Anytime, Anywhere | Rabbi Sholom Ber Sorotzkin

We say, We are servants of the Ribono shel Olam, before whom we bow, and before the honor of His Torah, anytime. What do the words mean: בכל עידן ועידן? We said we are עבדים already of Hashem. What does it mean, ‘anytime’? It means each of us changes situations every second, sometimes. We go on the street, we go on the plane, we go to meetings, we have this Nisayon, that Nisayon. We have to know one thing. We have all kinds of Nisyonos, but all of them are under one cap of עבד השם, a servant of Hashem. And I want to tell you a moiredike story. There was a story, everybody knows the Mashgiach, HaGaon HaTzaddik R’ Don Segal, flew with all Gedolei Yisroel to America, for the big נסיעה for Olam HaTorah. And when he was going on the way, everybody knows he went with a private plane. And a lot of people asked him, Why is the Mashgiach going with a private plane? He said: You know how much you have to pay, how much you have to be Moser Nefesh for one forbidden sight? When they went on the way, they walked in with the Gaba’im, the lady who was taking care of, she asked to see their passports, so somebody gave her the Mashgiach’s passport. And the Mashgiach, as usual, in his Hanhaggah, he has Gedarim he did to himself, Gedarim that usually we don't have to do, but the Mashgiach, in his greatness and righteousness, did his Gedarim, his head was down. She said he has to pick up his head, she has to see the face, to recognize him from the passport. And the Mashgiach said: Please not, please not. She said she can’t be מוותר on it. The Mashgiach said he needs 2.5 minutes. She said okay, she's willing to wait 2.5 minutes. The Mashgiach, after 2.5 minutes, he started to blast crying. Crying, ממש crying. And he picked up his face and put it down. Everybody understood that that lady did not mean what she did. She didn’t want the Mashgiach to cry. She asked from him forgiveness and everything. But we have to understand this story. We're not talking only on the level of the Mashgiach, that from his Geder to Geder to Geder he did for himself, he was blasting from crying, and this is what he meant, for how much you have to give up for any Nisayon. But I think over here it's another thing. The Mashgiach made a תחבולה. I think the Mashgiach, when he waited for 2.5 minutes, he wanted to cry, it's not only because of the איסור. He wanted his eyes to be full of tears, so then he cannot see the sight he didn't want to see. With strategies you shall wage war for yourself. You have to, every chance you see a sight, and this is anytime. We want to be successful, HaKadosh Baruch Hu puts in every situation, in every situation, you have to find in that second, in that situation, a trick. Once somebody chepped me a little, How do you walk into Manhattan? What about Shmiras HaEinayim? Manhattan is not a pure and holy place. And I told him: I can tell you the truth, when I walk into Manhattan, I see one thing. Only green. This is the only thing I see. But we have to find, this means Every second, every situation, we’re עבדים, but every situation changes. Each time, we have to find a different trick, and then you’ll be called איש מצליח, a successful person. בעזר השם יתברך שמו we’re zocheh to be I am a servant of Hashem, anytime. We're going to find the point and the trick to show we’re real עבדים of the Ribono shel Olam.
