I remember also, I mean, as a young rabbi, I maybe was equally as excited to get a question about like the dish of fleishig fork in the milky dishwasher. Like, again, to put into practice all the things that we had learned. Um but I the first time I was really jarred, somebody asked me to come over to their house. It was a man from the community, and he shared with me something relatively scandalous in his own marriage and his wife's discovery of it and its implications for their family and and really out of the ordinary. And I was a young rabbi, somewhat somewhat perhaps naive that the things that happen in the general world are are happening in our own community. And I I remember I as I was listening to him, I was trying so hard to make sure he doesn't see that I'm shaking. Like, I I remember feeling I'm shaking right now what I'm listening to. And especially thinking I didn't have the most insulated background. I was ex- I'd not, you know, I was a good boy. I was well-behaved. But, you know, I I I don't come from the most insulated background. And and I was I was shaking. And I was listening, and I was trying to listen in a supportive way, but working really hard that he not see I'm shaking right now. And every time over the last also two and a half decades that um sometimes I encounter new things and I say, "Well, this is a ticket to I think or at least make me feel better to believe that it's happening in all in all communities."
