often when a child feels like they have
to hide certain behaviors. Every day I
hear in my practice, you know, how long
was, you know, whether it was
pornography use or whether it was cell
phone or whether it was shabas breaking
or whether it was some sort of sneaking
thing that they felt they had to hide.
The reason why they're hiding is because
they really feel ashamed. There's a
tremendous amount of shame that happens
and they feel I'll be judged if I tell
my parents or my parents won't
understand or often they're struggling
with these things weeks, months, years
prior for it to being revealed. And
sometimes even this is not in every case
it's not uncommon that I'll hear almost
from uh someone who got caught and they
end almost like a feeling of relief like
like now I could speak about it with
someone you know the more person shame
grows in secrecy. So the more a person
has to go into hiding like you were
saying rababi the person they wind up
living a double life you know it's just
the child feels forced into hiding and
they're ashamed of what they're doing
and they themselves are struggling.
