At Amudim we see all types of addiction including gambling, porn, sex, substance abuse, and alcoholism. These are more common than we would like, and the reality is that addiction affects people across all ages and communities. Prevention and early intervention are key. Addiction usually does not happen overnight. With education, awareness, and early detection, we can help people before it goes too far. Everyone deserves a chance to get the help they need.

We at Amudim see all types of addictions
from gambling addiction, porn addiction,
sex addiction, substance abuse,
alcoholism. These are things that we
sadly see a lot more than we would like
to, but it's the unfortunate reality of
the times that we're in and therefore we
need to be able to provide whatever help
those that are suffering need.
>> You know, first it was prescription
opiates that he would buy from people
and then the summer of 2013 he started
using heroin. Addiction is something
that affects many people all across the
board. In our high schools for example,
we know that there is alcoholism and
drugs both experimentation and addiction
going on all across the board. We need
to do more prevention programs within
our high schools. Everything from ultra
Yeshivish to modern Orthodox and
everything in between. We need to be
real and understand that addiction is
real.
>> Last year, just before Purim, he OD'd in
our house in the bathroom. My wife found
him laying on the floor.
>> We also need to understand that nobody
wakes up one day and decides to be an
addict. And usually this is a process
and if we can catch it early enough both
by prevention through education and
awareness programs or by learning early
detection when people start, we can
actually curb this issue before it gets
too far.
