[Music] welcome back Rabbi Dr elzar brat we have a very special episode something a little bit different we are in the midst of learning and we are about to begin the a Garis that are famously known they called the RAB Garis and when you get there you learn them begins with and goes for around three daim and in this episode brother is gonna be discussing how explain and also explore that were written specifically on these aaras and we thank our sponsor Eli and Eva gen of buaron Florida who dedicate this episode in honor of their M as Rabbi Yakov gibber who's the r of the PO Jewish Center in honor of all the tah he has taught them so very appropriate and now they are dedicating this episode and we hope that the tah that's taught in this episode and all the other episodes should be as for the GS and for the SCH for Rabbi gibber to continue spreading and teaching T in boaron Florida so thank you RAB BR how are you today okay so as you mentioned in the when we talking about in general and specifically a deep dive into the and what the what various through the generation said to explain these garas so now when learning gar every once in a while we get what's coined sometimes they're short sometimes they're longer some have a nice amount to such material others less the is to skip them either you try to break your teeth on them a little bit you skipped them reasons simply was it's hard Aramaic and and even after you understand the Aramaic it's hard to understand over time in recent years the tools such as the artso garas both in Hebrew and English the M garas learning these garas on some level has been made a bit easier of course there's still a long way to go these garas when one looks around it's much harder to find per on them many of the standard which we rely on when we're learning regular garas they simply never comment on such pieces of gumar the question is why is that were these garas learned throughout the generations and how were they over understood over the centuries a more important question is how to understand them after learning the literal meaning at times they're very for lack of a better words strange hard to believe there's things that seem to be on our shallow understanding Beyond tea they're Amazing Stories and they um have amazing n which technically could happen but did they happen and these are all these types of questions one such series of gar that St has become famous for highlighting these questions is the RAB barar founded byra which is about to begin besides for this series of 15 stories which is RAB RAB is the main person involved in the story The gar continues a few more blot of a so we basically have close to three blot of solid a okay so now as an introduction a little bit about a it's a load of topic like all areas of T relates to so much including how it works out withf all these types of things it's well worth to find time to learn this area of tyan some level interesting is the masses in Europe for hundreds of years used to attend and didn't go to it was before even but they went to which was it was they focused on that because they were not really able to understand regulares he's talking a little later before World War II okay fine there's something known as a balag we find already inal something called a balag and the question which is discussed by various people is were there experts in a and that they only were experts in aada or they were experts in a and these are discussions which we briefly touched on in an episode about the the Kus we mentioned I think about between but we're not going to go into that right now first to briefly um as this is what um is very important just to mention some tools that are out there on the subject of a first there's a safer called which was put out by professor yov and this is an excellent work where he collects primary sources from until the on this topic and what he does is he has excellent overview of each piece and he annotates each piece with tons of notes giving you the background of everything and it's a very well worthy piece of work if one wants to see the story of a throughout the generations through the from and onwards other work froma Philip who's famous for putting out the Mish other work many works on Rashi so he's put out a work called he has from his re and which will mention in one second but basically what he does is he starts from kazal and goes to current day KES R and others dealing with everything in between from G and onwards quotes of the throughout the generations how they deal with a says is very into and gave many many on it and wrote a lot about this subject another um article very important it's a really a safer but it's a massive article from Professor liit which was published in he also sets up the Su very well in more recent years there's an English book people always like English so we have from Rabbi weer blank published by korin and Yu um volume two of his series Illuminating Jewish thought it might be it's volume one but this volume is Illuminating Jewish thought Faith philosophy and knowledge of God impressive ASAS from lansi rig and others and he brings down primary texts of throughout the generation and he deals with it he discusses it he brings translates many of the primary texts into English also very useful tool a classic work on this that many people have looked at over the um in from all all walks of life is the he there's an article from Professor tashma where he deals with the that wrote on a which is very few which we'll see as we discuss this and just to quote one last thing is an article from Raben which was published in the early issues of kakir which I'll be more than happy to send a PDF where he deals with a throughout the ages he's starting with the maral um and but he but he goes backwards and forwards dealing with and again it's in English so a lot of people appreciate that where he deals with all different aspects of the of theim um that's out there okay so now what's my goal to highlight different approaches and the how the throughout the generations dealt with and specifically withas also to discuss I said the question is who is RA so this already you turn to different collections one is and his he he collects the various things about and we find that he was by um he's mentioned in various garas in bras with mus and one of the things that he really becomes very famous for is these outstanding garas as we're going to discuss throughout this episode there is mention of a RAB bar and sometimes this is this caused Great confusion the shus bubble from rovic has a discussion of various garus which he says that it got mixed up sometimes which always happens through um beyond the scope of today that such a thing happens that the names get mixed up similar names now throughout the generations a was attacked it was attacked by Kar it was a um it was attacked by Christians it was attacked by mishad and St people also made fun of the story that they read musum for example as we'll see um now it became a question always how to learn these garas for example there was a yid Wexler who wrote a whole long letter to which we have um was published in a um and basically he asked them how do you teach a goddess to children in schools and it's famous sh wrote a whole long essay which is even published in English in the collected writings of his recently but in this volume that I quoted they published this Mo this letter this massive answer of which is well worth going through to discuss how one learns a and all all these types of garas throughout CH now interestingly enough it was censored in certain places for example the Shar which was a collection of TR it wasn't published it seems they consulted said not to publish it okay at some points in time like everything else was claimed to be a forgery okay this also gets to more currently how hot this topic of a especially this the some of these garas that are very um against science so to speak and how literally to take it was became known as the slifkin controversy which was which was um early days of the internet was going on for a while and a lot was written about it it's already an academic topic with his academic articles about the slian affair um which also plays out in how to approach these type of AAS and and especially even some where we're dealing with these certain types of animals that as far as we know they don't exist so how they approach it and this gets into which will mention shortly now specifically rabar were called out for the it's quoted quotes the that a Christian um it seems at one time a king wrote to said to the Jews and he was referring to these garas do they believe it how could you believe it very power a very powerful us the um one of the early per which we'll discuss on RAB says that many people make fun of us and they say not only are these garas of rabum baloney but it means rest of the tal it's like that and so you have to be okay so the question is is when you come across these type of garas in general and specifically these garas that is about to learn how does one approach it so there is different approaches one approach seems to be that it literally did happen this is found over here in on specifically one of the stories brings down what seems to be which we now have as a or possibly that they held at least one of the stories literally happened with okay but that's only one of the many stories there's a bunch of these stories that as one's going to be learning them and is gonna be explaining it's it's hard to say that they're that they're literal so the already over here says so what's assumed is rash seems to take some type of literal approach to these garas and because of that later on in there was a very Kazi known as the Tana even um beyond the scope of our discussion the story about him but in a pulus that he had that he also based on this rash it it it's possible that these stories could be understood the mar who in general when one learns a we know the mara breaks grounds because he is the most systemat one basically the most systematic work on a that they had through the generations because as we're going to see the moral was not around the mar over here where he goes through these and it seems based on what we discussed a little bit about his his was based on stuff that he said to specifically he was m so he learned so it seems that he learned these and he must have said these ideas to them he says as follows so that this this deeper stuff going on and then he also elaborates to explain the sidas that are going on in these garas through his Mah but what he seems to be saying that there's also a pous understanding of this which is based on the understanding of the rasham and so too the inan thean from he understand he brings down the mar he brings down this and he says even though you might think that these he says it's and are you gonna say you gonna read these stories and there such far out lands that they're visiting and these wild creatures and these gigantic fish and how could he understand it so he said he STS to and others also do a similar type of thing from is in where he talk where he shows that if you travel you'll see that there are and at least in his time there were many wonders out there that they didn't know about you didn't know about they weren't today you hit um you go on the internet you if you want to let's say someone tells you something you can find out about in a second you can see a video possibly about it but in those days it was before that so he's saying is it's definitely possible all these stories they might sound like um strange and weird and not possible to you but they as building off this building even even the mar such a possibility the who was considered a very very educated but also tremendous educated person in his work published in 1714 he also shows on a few of these stories that they could be true based on different materials that were known in his time similar to the and he also goes with and over here it's worth mentioning there was a attack on the sh and on the gar from a um mascul known as l in the 1860s and he wrote a series of attacks in the newspapers at the time and the question was amongst the should we respond to him or not because reading the newspapers and the and the was attacked one area that was attacked obviously was going to be these and you believe these stories and he was quoting all the earlier literature so here in in in an article he chose to respond that was what the some of at the time decided that we can't let this attack we unanswer we have to answer it so he went ahead and he wrote in the newspapers a response to him and he and he showed that some of the garas we know um and he was he quoted actually masic literature to show that we believe some of these stories that could be true based on information and then in his later on in his work incredible incredible work on to understand a and and a wealth of information and his own materials on so BAS brings a whole bunch of M that how one could technically understand these okay so this so this is one in these type of garas this but this Mahal obviously a lot of people don't like this Mahal but we see through list and you can make a long list this is how they understood these type of gar another another is throughout the generations it's just a some sort which will lead possibly into another Mahal that's mentioned such a Mahal is found okay the which we when we spoke about um that came out from manuscript in recent years in 1950s finally so these pieces on the he has a whole not but at least he talks about I mentioned most of don't say anything about these garas he does talk about these garas and the pieces onar was quoted from manuscript by the Yan and his Parish on Yan but what he says is he begins [Applause] out so he's saying this to see what happens is when they travel on the water it Trier dreams trigger them all of a sudden to have great incredible thoughts so basically is that it triggers when they travel such as when he traveled great ideas um and that's how he um understands the the gamar um okay this was already in the they put they published these these pieces in the back of after the and as they mentioned the he brings this there's another by prominent people and he says that many are not they're not true but it's a middle of learning the so they would throw in every once in a while something nice light to um to wake up the crowd so to speak as we'll see araja says something similar to this also that he wrote which was had explained also and and what I'm saying is these two are saying it for the that it's you don't have to come on to or that that it's it's not true it was just like to say story to get awake okay another found by which the goes with this Mah in many of is that it's a it's not it's not again it's not literal so the problem becomes controversial work which we're not going to go into the but he who also deals a great length with so he uses this approach of the reality that we don't accept these garas because they they seem to be not so simple that they're true from one of the early works on a goddess published in 1581 so he and another safer of his also he does bring this Approach at least for the garas of R whereas many other garas he does not go with GMA mean to say the problem becomes like this let's say I just mentioned a CL that some these these the understand it's a it's a it's just to get it's to wake you up so to speak or it's a GMA does that mean every single gamar how does one know when to use the claw of the ri and say it's a GMA is is it a is it that every gamar is a GMA and that's the problem part of when one learns that even when we do find that there is that give these statements but are there statements for Universal across the board for every deals with this and it's very hard there is no real place book so to speak of Cl just like we have and gar and in it's much less we're not going to find so much what theum are for when these say such a thing this relates to another thing the K the K writes a very fascinating L when he's talking about some of these again it's not clear how which garus exactly is it all gar something but he says that it sounds like sometimes it could be that into the gar things that the re they misunder the rebi when he's speaking specifically of weird they St St in something now the question becomes the K did not think that that means with allar especially similar we find the ran in the famous with in the that he had that ended up getting him thrown out of Spain so so it's very they're very fond to quote he was basically they said to him oh so he said he says about says it's not a big deal if you not if you don't believe it then and the ran even goes on um talking about so right away the question becomes the ramban could be was saying this in the debate he's you don't buy ice from the ran saying when he's talking to the to when he's talking in the middle of debates with about this that that's what his universally with anyone who learns ran knows that there's much more to the story so that that so that's why it's very problematic when even when someone comes and this is why this topic is very sensitive throughout the generation someone come and say oh that they're talking about GMA okay but that was maybe those three garas or the 10 garas that he's talking about but to say it you have to have the U shoulders to be able to say it all the time so this obviously plays out it's a very very complex topic so now here we have the schah he specifically goes after the riy and says's um um and he has a whole bunch he has a not going to quote all the different aspects of it but just he one thing we know and this is its own long story just like this that which is how to understand that so what what what is why is there even such a if it's really half the time it's GMO or maybe even all the time it's GMO other people so obviously there's much more going on says the and he disagrees very strongly with the r and he mentions a bunch of different theudas over here besides this L the L mid he also throws out there a work he quotes this work that was 50 rules how to understand medish so you see that there was a written before his time he do for some reason he doesn't quote the name um it's a it's a discussion who the person really was but his ra already tells us who it is but the point is that we have 50 rules to understand a m IND rules that the brings down all 50 of these rules has the over here has a whole besides for having of and how The Works he has a whole pages of which makes sense the besides for being one of the also he has to deal with this type of topic so the point in short is says the is it's talking this that there each gar there's much much more happening in these garas he already alludes to it says specifically that wrote showing the going on one is he he talks about he mentioned such a thing specifically says the and there are others we now have from the fromel re of the ran also came out of manuscript and there are others so we see that so the SCH says that there's much more this cus going on in the Gara it's alluding to cabala and he brings specifically for the RAB he brings one um ABAB based on a showing that in these garas there's much more happening which is what really is going on according to let's say the marsh and others yeah also once we get to theal which we'll see with the various far that also is what's happening now the B one of the one of theim who wrote one of the earliest works we have systematically on aaras he says that a similar again not he's before the SCH and but it's a similar type of concept that what that these garas allude to something kazal were trying to hide something from the masses so and we find in general not only in Jewish culture but they would keep information from the masses so the way he was he brings this down from with astronomy that they would keep the garas they spoke in these sounds like very strange Mater strange language these strange stories but it was known those the they were able to interpret and understand this and that's what was going on in these garas this is the his whole approach which is a work which was which why was written as its own story where he deals with and then in the 1960s where we finally got the the maral's pish systematically on all of he has all to explain his his approach whatever it's called and whatever it's based on the Mah of how to understand the and we see over the tremendous sophistication of what's going on in these garas that there's much more to the story as they say now interestingly enough the rambam was planning on writing a work he he discusses this in a few places in and other places on a to explain the various a and seems he began such a work whatever happened with it did any part survive it seems not it seems by the time he by he talks about it and basically sounds like he changed his mind he's not going to put out that work however in he deals with many many AAS how to explain them with his own unique fascinating approach which many adapted throughout the generations we know as not so well known but gave anyway his son is M his he published not published but he wrote um a work called it's published by was published in many of thean in the 1800s and more recently published an Edition called um and all these are a systematic way how to understand various a and what's interesting is over here I was complaining is that there's something called and there's and everything and when do you say it so one of the things that he does in this fascinating introduction is he says that he tries to put puts different kamaras he says this Kamar fits into this category it's a this he doesn't go througha because he's he talks about that his father was planning on writing such a work and he changed his mind not to do it it sounds like part of the was even though they felt it's K to let the masses know something so we'll let out some of the secrets but definitely not to allow out all the secrets okay but the point is that the r ra also they were um working on these now one of the was known as the Raj so the Raj is one of the first works that we have on where he deals with many of the sadly not on all thear now already when you look in his work in the beginning of when he talks about it he says people think there there's nothing behind them [Music] and and throughout his work basically the Raj sometimes shows his philosophical ideas and he sometimes it's a cabalistic thing he was a big M and he shears with theor whoever the audience of the parus was sometimes through some of in his incredible work one time he writes um it's sometimes it's and sometimes it's trying to keep something from the fools and um all types of fasing lus throughout his work he quotes the ram sometimes um sometimes he says this anyway one goes through the Raj it's unbelievable what's happening you get to see you're you get you're treated to some of thear as they said it's not only the after the the will be continuing with also another few BL of so here we have 20 pages of the Raja how he understands some of these garas so sadly we don't have how the Raj understands but we have in B something like 20 something pages of the Raj to see not that one may really will understand it I'm sure some people will but it's unbelievable just to see what's going on over here okay now just to mention uh two other PR and then we'll get into the actual works on this topic similar to this what the what what the and all these are saying whether it's the ra whether it's philosophy whether it's follow that there's much more happening this this going on in this so I will quote what did he do he used to when he got up to so he wouldn't skip it he would read it this is a recording of someone says what happens when they got up to they're learning he says and he gave without skipping he read the garas word for word and once in a while he would explain something at one point he says like this we don't understand but it's gar and you don't skip it and he goes on and then he says even though okay he goes on and he kept on saying this type of thing it's now at one point um he said even though we don't understand these stories fine then he said um he stopped and he said like this shti that one of the he was asked what's these garas so um the godle gave him an answer that in he was referring to at that point in time there was a war between Germany and France and it seems that there was different emblems each group had one had was a eagle one had was a lion and so in the newspapers it said that the lion won the over the eagle now if someone today is reading that newspaper article and and reads this sentence the lion won over the eagle he has no idea what's going on how does a lion went over an eagle however in that period of time everyone who was reading the newspaper they knew what it was didn't even explain it wasn't a remes it was it was the lingo because everyone knew that so he says like this in the times of kazal everyone understood the rasm behind this over time it was forgotten so these M it's not St random based on baloney stories or anything they were specifically says based on the story that he heard from who is this God doesn't say who was but it turns out in the fascinating work originally published in um from Yakov Mark so who knew salant well he heard this from Sal he once asked him this question and seen some Professor a German Professor asked him this question and not only that he specifically asked about the gar How Could You Jew he says the Talman is so sophisticated but when I get to these type of garas this not this person said to how do you understand it and gave this mus which is quoting and I think there are other sources for it also but the point is the lingo the if someone was living at the time and we have numerous one could give numerous numerous examples of such a thing that if you're if you understand the the history of the time A lot of times things that to us make no sense but in those days as basic comes then everything starts to make sense and that's a simple way had to understand a lot of times um and one other point is it's similar to so the from the he has where he deals with two he has two dealing with and he quotes without saying the name a whole piece from the also where they talk about that there was different in that period of time the time of kazal there was there was there was basically two levels of people one group of people were tremendous and the masses were there was very few people in the middle ground this is what this person claims and the point is so therefore they had to hide Theus in these different and that's why it was written in these M andus and all these fancy sophisticated ways over time and then we have let's say the rambam was possibly going to do it and he did in the mar attempt to explain how to understand the Raj said if you go through the Raj various garas he does tell us how to understand some of these garas anyway um one last point is that we find a lot of times the numbers inaras in general Som could sound like it could be 300 and it's like impossible to understand such a thing so the points out that with numbers um there is an exaggeration and in his work which we'll speak about shortly and many others they say when it comes to numbers that is an exaggeration okay so now the question is we that's the overview this is how they look throughout the generations and these are some of the works written on a throwing out there we mentioned okay what about our are there there specific on this Kamar so interestingly enough some people write there 30 there's 55 there's even a claim there 55 such garas the exact number is um has not yet been confirmed but there are many suchas and I will mention briefly some of them and highlight some asp about first but one last point to say in general about these as I learned through various that were written specifically on thear of overall comment I would say is like this when learning through various works so when you learn regular gamar you learn it and you learn the text then you have they raise issues and everything goes from there here after you know what the exact words let's say you sat down with article or m whatever it is and you know the exact story you still in the dark because as each GLE shows in these works I'm going to mention and many others each word alludes to something else and each G his memory triggers and says this word means this gamar or this piece of Yuda and it represents this and what happens is you're you're being exposed and when one learns this gar literally every person some it's interesting after going through a lot of per on the gamar you start seeing that some people say similar ideas in the gamar but how they get there is incredible the and the that different use to show the code likes of that's going on in these garas is remarkable so let's begin the kakar in renit in his work in 1590 he already has a whole discussion at the end of the work of how to understand these um one of the earliest works specifically setting out to devote to these garas he talks about them and he says in the interesting thing that um even though that basically there could be many M to understand and there could be many Mah to understand there's not one specific Mahal had to understand these garas he writes it out very nicely in as he sets out his work about this now an early work was from Raa Kitz published in 1634 this is based on cabala varizal and one of the earliest works of using cabala of theal in Poland it seems he might even based on a conversation and emails with the RAB aiv it sounds like he might even had some manuscripts of anyway this is a work a heavily cabalistic work to explain the garas of it's called Z another work is called it's published in 1712 the author died in 1705 his son publishes it he wrote a Chua safer called um evay which was recently published by m and they also published with and also another company called they also published this work it's he learned and we know it was from this TR that recently came out there's a lot of cabala going on in this work also um and a lot of interesting things one could learn when seeing how he goes through these garas another work was called fromom published this work is a massive work on these garas allala of and others M from Amsterdam I don't know why this is published in 1744 it was published many times including a few years ago you say I'm not sure what was so unique about this small work that this was published many times over the Cent over from 1744 as opposed to many other works another work that um is famous and I'll mention immediately why it's famous is published in 1764 called the dark dark is Alis so he has literally he goes through eachar and explains what he calls and and it's very back to see eachar he literally each story of he divides up into these four things and he has AR and we get to see all about his generation he was Toad and what's famous about this work is this is one of the only works that we know received as from the okay therefore it's famous what does that mean it means is a lot of times it comes up if you search on the internet in various antique auctions they sell the book why do people want to buy it specifically because not because of the content which is amazing but because it has in recent um La uh I think it was last year an addition a new edition came out of the work and I just got an email about a few a few days ago a new addition probably has to do with that is coming up to so the guy decided to finally get it out sounds like he was working on for a long time and he brings down that his father who supposed to be a tremendous and also is a rebi ofel that was n recently and basically R said if one wants to learn a god how to learn a so you don't have the he said you learn the dark and you get to see how to learn a and of course people are fond to say look the gr gave us commented and the gro didn't give us commented too many works okay the question is what's going on in this work what's so unique about this work this is a discussion various academics have spoken about in their writings it's not for now another work which also deals with of also is Hartz interesting person in his he has a few pieces in the back about various and in recent years they have republished his works the question is is he a masc is he not a Mas does he predate masim etc etc possibly even had a work of his had which we don't have but okay there's a work Evan from 1772 which also deals with many the garas has now here is a work called this is from basz the son of the this was a great great G alive in 1740 and he dies in 1818 he was a he was a tremendous Riva he's famous for being the son of the but we know that he was not only an expert in regular learning but he was an expert in Dr in a from his tremendous one could see the beautiful gives now his work on where he systematically goes through the sug very very carefully um was only published 1905 now just to mention two NAS with this person with this great great guy I happen to be extremely extremely fond of his but this work is heavily based on the which is fascinating to see this unbelievable God and you see that his we see which not always do people appreciate or know are aware of that there were many that were experts in the marim and here we have this person the whole is heavily based on philosophy and the mar of the r now and not that the r explains the but using materials from the he plugs this in and he's M into the now he was unbelievable mades we know this from his work he wrote a massive work on the rambam incredible incredible work it's still a manuscript today but Parts have been published M A each one is better than the next incredible incredible tyus there's nothing he's not on but he deals with everything etc etc and um as you could see I'm fond of him now next is AER this work was published in 1789 by up he publishes this when he's young it turns out he's a tal of who it seems right afterwards another Edition came out um this work is also into philosophy a lot in his work he deals with Copernicus and the question is why is there two additions one right after the other it seems that he got in trouble uh maybe even the was upset about the safer but he he actually did not publish it his tal published it there's a whole story going on about the safer not for now but this year was a tremendous year he had a massive he might have lived over a hundred he was a in a few different places and he was a prolific and a pis in all different areas of okay there's a from same time 1789 from a um rap called so what so far you can obviously see is I'm listing out already T far and there are more that are written from the 1700s and onwards on this gamar comes along 1800 just a few years after the G is n and the children of the G publish one of the first works of the gr is they publish this work okay of course is the fascinating introduction ofner and the children of the GR in where they talk about their father in the various F that they published so over here also it's incredible to see how both and the children of the gr talk about the gro and um RAV ketki talks about this work it seems there's a it could be we even have a it's possible we have a page of this work in the handwriting of the GR in Hebrew University he deals with that um there's other pieces of information over there what we might be able to learn from the gr General and Rabbi Feldman iron Feldman wrote a book in English called the jugler and the King where he explains this saer of the gr into English and he builds off this and you see that the later um some of the later people that were is in the suus of r from the 1800s onwards their starting point is the but the only talks about a few garas like everything else there's a bunch of additions so recently a nice addition came out with from Aim hold on I think um okay I can't find his name simman okay so this y he published a very nice Edition where he shows because the gr alludes to his other writings okay fine emak this is from the nus so nus wrote work on a and he deals with the um is also very important work in general for a the thing I'm trying to over here is mostly they're only written on the so you see it's basically came that this blot so to speak or maybe even less than a blot of sparked unbelievable amounts of on looks less interesting then there's a which is fasing work on on from published in 1869 if today it was recently republished a few years ago four massive volumes he has a beautiful amount of literature on the of just to mention a few more and then we'll conclude number one the great genius I don't even have words to describe him he wrote amongst his other his on this I tried to start learning it and read a bunch of pages and it's like your head spin he literally takes you on a tour OFA any word triggers by himar everywhere b m and somehow he gets back to the gar goes off on a tangent says a all over the place he deals with he rather uses the gr basically you're being ping ponged all over the call Mish with this great GLE who that's what everyone knows famous he's famous for there's a published in 1872 it gets beautiful as from the on him in V at the time and this work interestingly is based based on histo he uses historical events including to explain the various of skipping to another work in 1889 he bases his to understand the of and okay now then just to say a few words about this parish and then we'll conclude with three other per and that is like this there a that was Minal published in 1889 okay he also gets from various now in 1873 reell publishes a work called on the this is an incredible incredible work where he systematically goes through the garas and again if one wants to learn how to learn a this is a work because you see he plugs it back into the text into the words he go he's dealing with the rashbam for each piece and he shows where he's coming from how how he understands the gar it has a beautiful from the sh and the sh mentions we have the of okay he publishes this is one of the only works he publishes in his lifetime although he was a prolific writer after his son was nft okay in his he deal he has systematic different aspects over here how to write how to how to learn a okay very important now just to mention two things from this work which is as follows in the beginning he has a whole dealing with if one could curse an enemy or a Russia and he plugs us back into thear and he deals with the sugus and KEH is showing that there was such a thing that people would DAV to get to that their enemy should die and he deals with the parameters based on the Su and bras all over incredible materials about if someone has an enemy specifically or you know CL today it's very Nea what to do when one's allow DAV Etc to get rid of this enemy and he plugs this back into the first few more than one m in this okay at the time when I first learned I did not understand what's the background sounds strange okay now with that we go to another piece in the safer where he also deals with something to do with cabala that there's such a thing to learn cabala and there's a called cabal and he's very anti using cabal but then he says a whole story about himself which is cabales which basically was and this one could hear more byus about this I'm just saying this in in one in a one minute thing I gave a whole episode about re good more about this but basically turns out they discovered a bunch of thousands of of that survived and they found them and they started to analyze them and one of the things that comes out in these was that people would write into him my a landlord or someone stole stuff from me cow to kill them so to speak obviously they never knew it was going to be published they didn't have to worry about the censors they wrote him a letter and that was it um whatever maybe in razm so now this is it's interesting that could relate to the first thing when he's talking about the sug of when you have enemies um um daving for their death Etc which as I said today is very relevant now the cabala myus is why people writing Kamas in the first place it turns out and we know that he was getting thousands and thousands of Kamas I said 7,000 survive you have to understand there's no Kamas that survive for any rabba and he's not a rabba as I said even though in recent literature I've heard from people they they call him a rabba but he was not a rabba nothing to do with a reab he's a German tal Tal possibly possibly by who so what happened was the his um whatever you want to call it City I wouldn't call it a city but basically they were getting non-stop kitl the post office complained from the amount of flowing of backed up everything so he wrote to people why are you sending it to me there's no reason to send it to me I'm not about M nothing but people didn't listen they just kept on sending anyway this is not baloney stories you could read about this in the newspapers I have the I seen the newspapers of the time where it says this he he put in ads stop sending now he writes and again when he's talking about the cabal Isis what happened basically this is how he becomes famous someone brought a sick kid possibly this kid was with um infected with a I guess lack of a better word dbook of some sort and he didn't know what to do Etc eventually after staying in by a while the kids cured and the now this is not a rebish AA that possibly someone who might have been there says over AA this is rebellion G publishing in his life getting from from the it's in theer he's writing about himself of his okay and we'll conclude just to mention three other one is on fascinating he wrote this when he was pretty young but even then we see him beinga um and published a book called The Legends of RAB fascinating in English if one wants to be able to understand some aspects there are possible one could even without a proper background cabal could understand some of the um Professor UD mki in his book on The Rook deals with a little bit giving you some insight into the background of rook's work another work we just mention is pal from Hinson his own own fascinating interesting person and we'll conclude just now a few days ago the great M amongst many other things was in of Our Generation was Raa Shapiro so ra Shapiro gave she he was the world expert of the maral and he gave systematically on the basing it on the tyus of the mar the and and without anyone having to understand um say this the maral so it so it seems some of the were published in Vol and just now literally in time for the ofas a almost 600 page work comes out from hcal Hartman um available in stores in is I imagine it's also available in America um and the are transcribed with footnotes one could learn and see again I don't know how much one could necessarily at least me I'm speaking about myself I've had many of the listeners and RAM could understand these things but when one learns say you get to see what's going on the amus of kazal in these garas etc etc and obviously there's a lot more to say but we're just trying to keep it to this time so that these are some of the stories of the or the and general that are out there one should maybe learn a little bit while when they learn these garas Now Incredible so you mention re Hartman who just released theama he is a he's a son we have to mention he's a son ofua Hartman of maharal Fame and and he actually has a series on Old called on the da he's a prolific um it says many many but this specific share is something unique where he shares some interesting thoughts I think primarily from Shapiro so that's something interesting and you mentioned Rook um what was the name of the saer I don't think you mentioned it the title I'm not sure if it the how it originally is titled I I the way I have it is is published in the m one of the places was published then gets the manuscript he publishes in the back of this English book called The Legends of Raba barbar that's howar publishes it okay and it's around the week before the art side of R cook when we're when we are recording this and the actual series is going to be learned gar are going to be next week which is the and wants to share with me plans on having a a few episodes being released is he is it with RAB M yes with Professor Yehuda mki Professor Yuda mki discussing um rev Cook's swarm R Cook's life so you could check out check that out on the Swarm chatter podcast for
