Ep 22: IMPROPER EFFORT (Part 1)

[Music] welcome to the B alav series episode 22 the basy now tells us that based on all the understanding that we've given till now we see the tremendous mistake of people that think that the only way they can make their livelihood is through illegal measures he says it's totally illogical if we believe that H is only something we need to do to cover the miracle and H is something that God tells us to do but God sending it to us how could it be that God would say the only way you're going to make your money is through doing something illegal that's impossible if God's giving it to you he can't possibly need you to do something illegal and that's why the gamar says that the sin of weights and measures is such a severe sin which we going to see that a little bit later because a person is basically saying that I need to take my livelihood into my own hands and that the only way God can make me pay my bills is by lying and cheating and conniving which is limiting God's abilities doesn't make any sense it's similar says he's talking about Shabbat it doesn't make makes sense that the only way you're going to make money is by working on Shabbat it's been pred decided how much money you're going to make and working on Shabbat is not going to change that and it's impossible to say that's the only way you're going to make your money he gives the of a barrel in the old days they had barrels had spigots you put a spigot in it's like you have on the side of the hot word or on Shabbat a spigot and that would let the wine out now if you put six spigots in or seven spigots in it's not going to cause there to be any more wine than there was before the spigots don't create the wine the wine is pre-existing that's the same with our livelihood our livelihood has been predetermined the spigots are just the intermediaries to make it come out and an illegal spigot is not going to do anything more than a legal spigot I like to bring down a little story that I uh read when I was a boy in seventh grade I did a book report uh why I chose this personality I don't remember anymore maybe the teacher gave us options I don't know but his name was lucky luchano he was a mobster and his name was lucky because he was once in a motorcade and they tried to kill him and he got away he got the name lucky luchano and lucky was not a great man he killed many people but due to the help that he gave to the war effort his the mafia ran the docks during World War II the American government let him out of jail sent him to Sicily to spend the rest of his life and towards the end of his life life there was a uh a writer that went to write an autobiography on him and he asked him what's your life's takeaway and he says my life's takeaway is I ran organized crime I ran a Syndicate I ran a business and I put a lot of effort into it and I realized now at the end of my life I could have put the same amount of effort into making a legal dollar that I put into making an illegal dollar I could have I put so much effort I could have just opened a Fortune 500 company and that's the same true with our parasa you're going to make the same amount of money whether you do it with a legal or illegal way why do the illegal way and get punished as well have a wonderful day
