Why Do We MOURN Rabbi Akiva's Students?

every single year we mourn the deaths of 24,000 students of rabi AKA this is the mourning of Sasa Omar so the obvious question is okay of course this is a tragedy one Jew dying is a tragedy but frankly we've had worse we don't have 3 weeks or six weeks of morning for the Holocaust why is it that we observe AA for the tum of RAB AA and the answer is very simple if the issue would simply be commemorating tragic events then you're right but the difference is most tragedies in Jewish history people come up with reasons but we don't know for sure here we know for sure and kazal tell us that the students of rabi AA died in a plague between pesak and because they did not show proper honor to each other and therefore we mourn not to grieve we mourn to be cognizant of this flaw and try to specifically Rectify it in our own lives
