the most relevant part of of the Torah
on a day-to-day basis is what is what we
eat the work we do at the OU gives the
final consumer that knowledge that okay
this product is 100%
kosher my name is Shan Guri I'm based
out of Latin America Chile Peru Ecuador
Colombia my name is Richard LaVine and
my territory is south central
Pennsylvania my name is sh Friedman I
live in ANB I got sign to 60 or 70
factories in Italy my name is Rafi zero
I cover Cincinnati Northern Kentucky
Indiana we're doing as the actual hash
gaka work on the ground at the companies
in some of the most remote areas in the
world into the jungle we're going up the
mountains across Rivers you go on the
fishing boats you're disconnected from
the world no computers not phone do you
come to these companies that are making
chemicals ingredients and flavors it's
not like you get a product you buy it
and it's koser and it's okay there's a
lot of work behind it and this is what
the OU is about my job is to make sure
that each one of my companies is
following their kosher program as was
set up by the OU the ingredients the
finished products um the koshering of
equipment as needed we're really there
at every single company if it says Made
in Chile made in Peru we're there we're
visiting companies that do frozen mango
we're visiting companies that do wine
we're visiting companies that do cookies
we go in unannounced we have a listing
of every ingredient in the plant it
tells us what the ingredient is any
specific information that needs to be
applied we have to go in and verify that
these are the same ingredients that they
said coming from the same suppliers
schedule B is the list of final product
so every item that they sell at has an
OU has to be on schedule B we're looking
to see what they're doing when we're not
there what things are they doing for
other companies that might not be their
own products we're making sure that what
we say is kosher is 100% kosher
the reason we work in cash it's not only
about the money it's also thees that you
do for people around the world
everywhere the most satisfying part of
me working with the OU is working with
the communities in Latin America
providing KS to them being able to go
out every day and visit different cities
and different places and having the
relationships that I've had over the
years with a lot of wonderful wonderful
people and I've really enjoyed that and
I love my work especially when I go in a
place where there's nothing and I walk
into the store and I see you owe you on
a product I say you see this is what we
do so it makes me
