Hello everyone. We've reached the
Haftorah [music] of Parshat Behaalotcha.
This prophecy was given over by the
prophet Zechariah during the time
[music] when the Jewish people returned
from the Babylonian exile to the land of
Israel.
It was a challenging [music] time.
On one hand, a new beginning, and on the
other, many difficulties in building the
temple and [music] re-establishing life.
Within this reality, the prophecy comes
to strengthen, encourage, and remind us
that everything [music] is managed by
precise divine providence. The prophecy
opens with a joyful call to Zion, to
Jerusalem, and to the Jewish nation.
There is reason to rejoice [music]
because God announced that he is coming
to dwell within his people.
It's not just a distant [music] promise,
but a tangible reality where the divine
presence returns to be present.
At the same time, many nations will
[music] also join and draw near to God
and be part of the people in terms of
[music] recognizing and serving God.
Amidst all this, there's a clear
emphasis that God chooses Jerusalem
again, and it remains the spiritual
center [music] of the world. In the face
of this revelation, every person is
required to stand in awe, understanding
that something great is happening. The
Lord is awakening, [music] as it were,
to act in the world. Later, the prophet
describes a very special vision.
Yehoshua the high priest stands before
the angel of God. [music]
This is a central role, as he was the
spiritual leader of the people [music]
at that time.
But alongside Yehoshua stands Satan, who
tries to accuse him.
Immediately, a clear response [music] is
heard. God rebukes the Satan and rejects
the accusation. It is said of him that
he is like a burning [music] piece of
wood plucked from a fire, meaning
someone who was saved from a very
difficult situation, a hint at what the
Jewish people went through [music] in
exile.
At that time, Yehoshua appears dressed
in clothes that are not clean. This
sight expresses a situation requiring
correction. [music]
And then an order is given to remove
those clothes from him. After they are
removed, he is explicitly told that his
iniquity has passed from him, and he
receives new, clean clothes. Not only
that, but a pure turban is placed
[music] on his head, and everything is
done in an orderly fashion before the
angel. Now, Yehoshua stands anew,
restored, ready to continue his role.
Afterward, the angel of God addresses
him with clear words. If he walks in the
ways of God [music] and keeps his
commandments, then he will merit leading
the house of the Lord.
There is great encouragement here. Along
with responsibility, [music]
the path is open, but it depends on
walking in the ways of God.
Later, a call is directed to Yehoshua
[music] and his companions who sit
before him. They are described as men of
distinction, meaning people who hold
special significance for the
generations. [music]
They are told that God is about to bring
his servant, Zemah, an individual who
will be part of the redemption [music]
process. Along with this, another symbol
is mentioned, a stone placed before
Yehoshua, and upon it [music] are seven
eyes. God says he will reveal its
meaning and remove the iniquity of the
land in [music] a single day.
There is a description here of a
comprehensive process of repair and
purification. [music]
Afterward, comes a description of a
state of tranquility. A day will come
when people will [music] call to one
another and sit together under the vine
and the fig tree. This is an expression
[music] of a life of calm, security, and
peace among people.

>> The prophecy continues to another
vision. The prophet describes how the
angel wakes him like a [music] person
waking from sleep. He asks him what he
sees. The prophet [music] answers that
he sees a menorah made of gold with a
vessel on its top and seven lamps.
Each lamp has tubes [music] that flow
oil to it so that they may burn
continuously.
Beside the menorah stand two olive
trees, [music] one on the right and one
on the left.
The prophet asks what's [music] the
meaning of these things.
The angel responds with a question
asking [music] if he doesn't know and
the prophet admits he doesn't. And then
a clear answer is given.
This is the word of God to Zerubbabel.
The central message [music] is that
success comes not by might nor by power
but by the spirit of God.
Meaning the building of the holy temple
and the progress [music] of the Jewish
people do not depend only on human
strength but on divine guidance.
Finally, it is said that even if there
[music] are great obstacles like a high
mountain, they will become a plain
before Zerubbabel.
Meaning the difficulties will be
resolved and the way will be cleared.
He will merit to take out [music] the
main stone of the building and it will
be a moment of joy where everyone will
cry out and rejoice.
The haftorah presents a complete
picture.
A beginning [music] of rejuvenation and
joy, then a phase of improvement and
purification ending with a declaration
[music]
of progress and success.
Everything occurs through the precise
guidance of God who accompanies the
Jewish people at every stage.
