A Gift from Heaven | Hershy Weinberger

I want to share a story that's very personal to me, and to be honest, I wasn't ready for a long time to share the story. Back in 2017, 2018, I was freshly new in the music business, and I struggled in the beginning. It's not easy in the beginning. You try your best. It was right off after Davenen, the song, ‘Holy Creator, ‘You asked that we should pray...’ came out, and I was young, I was very young, and I was like, shocked. Dirshu made a dinner and everybody’s singing it, all kids in school and... I remember at that point I was struggling. Anyone that has a business and accomplished something big in business knows that the biggest competition he has now is himself. He has to beat himself. It’s not the point that you sit down and you write the song and that's it. It has to be in a true moment, and you have to stay true to yourself, what you feel, and at that moment, Hashem gives you the gift of expressing your emotion in a song. That summer, I have a few close friends, Baruch Hashem, we learn together, we have a Chabura. We went to a trip to Poland, before Rosh HaShanah, before Yomim Nora’im, to ask for a good year, to פועל ישועות. When you travel, it's not easy. And בפרט if you're a performer, entertainer, and you meet a lot of people and you go out in the world. It takes a lot of Kochos, a lot of גבורה, to stay true to oneself, to know that you're a Yid. We arrive to Poland and it was a really elevating trip. We went to Lizensk, to Ropshitz, to Dinov, the heiliger Bnei Yissachar, to the רמ”א, Tosfos Yom Tov. After two days going around, farbrengen, singing, davening, we arrive at the hotel, Thursday night. And I remember sitting in the lobby with a friend and schmoozing, when all of a sudden, there was a huge Nisayon of Shmiras Einayim. And I was thinking: Hashem, I really want to bring a good message to the world, a good song to the world. That was one of the בקשות that I actually had in mind when it was in Lizensk, in Ropshitz, by the Tosfos Yom Tov, in Krakow, by the רמ”א. And at that very moment, I was, like, I have here this Korban, I have this moment, this is my moment. Hashem, give me the Ko’ach to close my eyes, to walk away from this. הודו להשם, I had the Ko’ach, I had the power to say no, and when I went up to my hotel room, Hashem gave me a very special מתנה that night, and a song came to me. And the song goes something like this. לעולם יהא אדם a person should be a ירא שמיים. Asks a person: Tatte, Tatte, Tatte, I want to be we all want to be יראי שמיים.
