A 500 Year Day

We saying Krias Shema, you will you make me may Shema my Lord. The same story from the drasha and this was in one of his Zach Elul drashas. So the same story used to give a drasha every year on Chov Zayin Elul. This was in the year kuf kuf ayin gimmel. So the same story was already rubbing shoulders at the time. So he said that what's this Indian of the Mayan you will you make him may Shema my Lord. So he quoted the Gemara in Maseches Chagiga daf hey. The Gemara says you make the shana. If somebody sins one day in a year nechsho play with shana. It's as if he sinned the entire year. So that's a cryptic chazal but this is what the Gemara says. A choshech beshana nechsho play with shana. We learned it from the miraglim. The miraglim were away for 40 days and they were punished beshana. 40 years they ended up being in the midbar. So there's an idea when it comes to chet a choshech beshana nechsho play with shana. We know mida tova is meruba mi midas puranis. How many times is mida tova meruba mi midas puranis? What's the multiple? It's 500 times. When it comes to someone that does an avera Hashem says I'm going to remember it achshilashana I'll repay him. But when it comes to a dover tov it's for 2000 years. So you say meres it's 5 hundred times mida tova over midas puranis. The Gemara says in Maseches Pesachim daf tzadik daled. It's also Gemara in the second perek of Maseches Chagiga that what's the distance if somebody tried traveling from aretz to shamayim. So if you remember the Gemara talks about the flager Nimrod who said that I'm going to go I'm going to build a tower I'm going to go up to shamayim. And the Gemara says a bas kol rasha ben rasha ben beno shel rasha. Right a whole in the Gemara there that just to get from aretz to shamayim would take 500 years. And then to get from one shamayim to the next shamayim there's seven heavens would be 500 years. And the next heaven would be another 500 years. But what's the distance between shamayim and aretz? The distance is 500 years. So the same story that's the pshat. If a person is going to keep Torah mitzvos kapalah mitzvos is it's the second parsha of Kriah Shma. L'man Yirbu Yamechem, you're going to be Zocheh to Arichas Yomim. What's the Arichas Yomim? Kimei Hashamayim Al Ha'aretz. The amount of time that it takes to go from Shamayim to Aretz or from Aretz to Shamayim. What's that distance? Chazal say in a few places, it's 500 years. And what's the Cheshbon? Because Mida Keneged Mida. And if Achoyescha Yamecha Beshanah Achas K'Shnei Olam U'Shanah, well then if someone does a mitzvah Yamecha Beshanah, he's going to be Necheshav as if he did 500 years of mitzvahs. So there's some Indian where he gets this balloon payment of 500 years all of a sudden because he did a mitzvah. That's the Kimei Hashamayim Al Ha'aretz. Chasam Sofer says that's what the pasuk means when it says Kibei Yirbu Yamecha. Because we know that one day of Hakadosh Baruch Hu's life is like a thousand years. If you do a mitzvah, you become a Shutf with Hakadosh Baruch Hu because the Tachlis of Brias Olam was Bishvil Ha'Torah She'Nigresha. So that there should be Torah. So if somebody keeps Torah, technically he's helping the world survive. If you help the world survive, says Hakadosh Baruch Hu, you're going to now be my Shutf. If you're my Shutf by me, a day is a thousand years. We're partners. We're going to split the thousand years. I'm going to get 500 and you're going to get 500. Kibei, by you being my Shutf, Yirbu Yamecha. What's the Yirbu Yamecha? L'man Yirbu Yamechem Kimei Hashamayim Al Ha'aretz. It's going to end up being 500 years. Again, this is a little Joshie. It's a classic Joshie from Chasam Sofer. Sounds familiar. We got to mention this once before. But the point is that somehow this symbolism of Kimei Hashamayim Al Ha'aretz actually plays itself out in K'Sivas Ha'omer B'Sukkah.
