Where do souls reside prior to
embodiment? I get a lot of grief for
this assertion that we existed before
our physical bodies were born.
Obviously, the materialists,
materialists mean people who believe
that the only reality is the physical
reality. So, they don't believe in the
soul at all. So, that to them is absurd.
Life begins when you're born. But, even
religious people get upset about this.
Many of them don't like this idea that
your soul would have a whole existence
that is not tied to embodiment.
Embodiment is an experience that that
soul is having. Embodiment is an
experience that that soul has at one
point, but it doesn't define the entire
existence from beginning to end of the
soul. So, consciousness does not arise
from embodiment, but to the contrary,
consciousness enters the embodied state.
So, it's not that I have a brain and
therefore I'm thinking, it's that there
is this entity which thinks and feels
and right now it's doing it in this
container, this meat suit called my
body, which has a physical brain. So,
it's very important to understand that
our embodiment does not define us. And
therefore, the practical difference that
this makes is to cherish the opportunity
that we have for this fleeting moment
where we can use our bodies to do acts
of goodness and kindness here in this
physical world. The soul waits for an
eternity to have this chance to come to
the world and to do simple acts of
goodness and kindness. To the extent
that the souls in heaven who are
awaiting their embodiment, or the souls
who have left their embodiment, are
looking at us with jealousy. They wish
they had bodies. They wish that they
could do a physical act in the physical
world. The kindest thing you can do for
your soul is to make sure that every day
that it's in a body, it was worth being
in a body. That means do a practical
action. Get up, move your body, go
somewhere to do something for someone
else. Some act of service, some act of
kindness that can only be done while
you're physically here.
