From a very young [music] age, I knew
that people did not like me and it was
because we were Jewish. I think I was
like 11 and my grandfather was visiting
over Halloween [music] and um someone
painted a swastika on his car. Parents
had to sit me down [music] and say there
are people who don't like us and it's
not for any reasonable reason. I knew I
was an other before I knew what an other
was. I just got back [music] from
Israel. Oh yes. Um, it was stunning to
me just the joy that I encountered
everywhere I went. When I walked into
the the shook in Tel Aviv [music] and
there was dancing and singing and, you
know, it wasn't even Shabbat. They just
it just was [music]
it just made me realize how vitally
important
that Jewish joy is to our survival and
our resilience.
