Day #196–Rambam DAILY Sefer HaMitzvos

it is day number 196 of our daily study of and in the three chapters a day of M we are still inas Tas I'm saying we're still in hilas TAS we only began it the day before yesterday and we're going to be in it for a whole uh another week um 25 chapters total and today we're on chapters six seven and eight as I explained yesterday we're going to learn the same Mitzvah every day because these very elaborate laws of guarding from uh the impurity contracted by contact with a corpse um it takes 25 chapters to cover it but there's one Mitzvah that is represented in all those laws so we're going to have that that Mitzvah over and over again every day all right here we go uh let's do it officially positive commandment 107 the laws of ritual impurity contracted through contact with a corpse okay so I said I'm going to share a little bit different detail every day to try to keep things uh fresh so here here's what I'll share with you today I said contact with a corpse it's not exactly accurate contacting something impure it's called maga maga means touching that's the way that uh anything that's impure imparts impurity but um there's a special type of impurity or manner of transmission of impurity that is unique to a corpse and that is oel oel means tent tenting it means that one can contract impurity not just by touching the corpse but by standing under the same roof as the impurity meaning the non-living body okay that is unique to the ritual impurity imparted by a corpse um we're going to talk a little bit more about that God willing tomorrow
