10 years ago when we built this garage
in our wildest dreams, we never thought
we would fill both with the four
ambulances needed. As the neighborhood
is expanding and our call volume keeps
increasing on a constant basis, we need
more ambulances, more training areas,
more storage area. We've outgrown our
training center. We have to train and
have continued medical education
elsewhere. We have ambulances sometimes
parked outside of our garages which
takes a beating on our ambulances.
You're going on a call and the summer
could be 120° in the back and the winter
could be freezing cold. We only have a
few small closets for storage. One tiny
little restroom, a little janitor's
closet and sometimes unfortunately you
could find all the ambulances being
utilized and used on call
simultaneously. Rashm we identified a
property right adjacent to our car
facility which will allow us to
seamlessly expand to serve our needs for
now and for the future. The amount of
ambulances will increase, the better
condition of the ambulance will
increase. Response time will go down.
It's a win-win situation. From this
garage, we're essentially located in
Woodmir. We're able to respond to
Cedarhurst, Woodmir, Ullet, Woodsburg,
Ullet State Park, all the way out to
East Rockway and North Woodmir. This new
garage and headquarters will feature a
state-of-the-art training center. We'll
have a classroom for continuing
education. The larger facility will
house more equipment, more ambulances.
We're going to increase our fleet from
11 to 13 ambulances. We are going to
have our own mechanic space that will
enable us to maintain and service all of
our ambulances on site and ultimately
all of our members will be able to
respond at a moment's time. We're going
to have a full gener running the whole
building just in case the power goes
off, which in the 500s the power goes
off all the time. The simulation labs
will feature advanced technology,
realistic patient scenarios, and
highfidelity equipment that will mirror
conditions our members face in the
field. This will ultimately sharpen
their skills, decisions, and teamwork.
Barashem, we've broken ground on this
exciting project. Foundation has been
laid. Steel has started to go up, and we
will be looking to you, our community,
our friends, our partners to make this
dream a reality. This new headquarters
is not just about more room. It's about
raising the bar, delivering the best
emergency medical care that every
individual of this community deserves.
