The Key to Redemption | Rabbi Yaakov Mizrahi

A very famous number that we see in our Torah is the number 70. When Yaakov and his children went down to Mitzrayim, the Torah tells us there were 70 people that went down. The 70 nations that are oppressing Bnei Yisrael. There were 70 years of Galut between the first Beit HaMikdash and the second Beit HaMikdash. The number 70 is a very common number when it comes to exile, when it comes to Galut, and when it comes to the Geula. And the question is, what is it about the number 70? The Sefer Ahavat Chaim says, the number 70 is the numerical value of the letter ע, which is also the word ‘eye’. The first sin that ever happened was because of the eye. The way we got into the Galut, the way we got into the mess of the Churban, is because of the eyes. People that look and think there's nothing wrong with looking. Looking? How much damage could looking do? We began the Galut only because of the eyes. The whole Churban is only because of the Einayim. And the way to get out of this Galut is by watching our eyes. The pasuk in Yeshaya says, The Sefer Taharat HaKodesh says, What does that mean? הוציא עם עיוור ועיניים יש. Hashem took out a nation that is blind, but they have eyes. They're blind, but they have eyes? Precisely! Bnei Yisrael have eyes, but they made themselves as if they're blind from looking at the wrong things. That's exactly who Hashem took out of the Galut. Bizchut the Shemirat Einayim, watching the eyes, that's exactly how we're going to be zoche to Metaken, to fix and to see the גאולה שלימה. This is hinted beautifully in the pasuk, עין בעין. I know we see with the eyes. What's the pasuk telling us? It's not only telling us how we see, the pasuk is perhaps hinting to us in what merit we will see the גאולה שלימה. כי עין בעין when we watch our eyes, that's precisely how we can be zoche to see the גאולה שלימה. And with that, we could explain what it says, The salvation of Hashem is in the blink of an eye. It’s not only telling us how fast Hashem could save us. That's telling us how Hashem will save us. ישועת ה’ you want to merit to see the Yeshua, the salvation of Hashem? כהרף עין, blink your eyes, close your eyes.
