Katarina Jonas Ben Sher
Haley and also
for for
David and
also of David Ben sha Ben farzan oshri
Ben Doris Gabi Ben Doris elad benis
uh Mara but Julie and Isa but Mara and
all of
Israel especially the ones that help us
do all the wonderful things that we're
doing lots of uh big projects in the
works oh and also
es and ysep
benle and schlomo yob
so the
uh Jewish ashfa series
continues in the last couple of days ISO
we had uh two very big
people uh leave the world we have
uh David Feinstein Moshe Feinstein
Shalom son of David Feinstein went
TOA and uh age 91 I
believe and also Rabbi Jonathan sex also
left the world and
um it seems that
uh
the rebuke and criticism that we've made
on Rabbi Jonathan Sax's
shim perhaps confused some
people um to think that it's something
personal like I don't like him
personally or I didn't like him
personally or wanted him wanted bad for
him personally and um that's actually
part of the topic
today uh because I've discussed it
before and I've even said it recently
that we'd love all of these people that
at this point perhaps are much much
worse than anything that Jonathan saak
said uh and causing much more damage but
uh needless decision say we want them
all to do chuva because we want all of
to do chuva but so long as they don't
obviously we uh we have nothing good to
say about them uh as far as their
teachings are concerned this doesn't
mean that we wish them to die this
doesn't mean we would beat them up if we
saw them this does not mean that uh you
know we uh uh we think of anything evil
quite the contrary but it seems like
people like to to use their own Horrible
character
traits to just you know they want to use
the tah in order to justify their
pre-existing Horrible character traits
they like to hate they like to show off
they like to insult they like to yell
and scream they like to do all types of
bad things so they figured oh so this is
the rabbi that screams oh that's my kind
of guy he's going against Rabbi so
therefore that's it's it's permanently
uh it's it's perfectly allowed to go and
personally insult these people and I've
told many times uh that it came to me
where I found out people would uh go to
these people personally and uh you know
then send me a screenshot of uh their
conversation with them of how they're
cursing them out I told them why what
are you doing what are you doing who
told you to do this what makes you think
that that's okay what but he's a rash
okay he's a rash but it still gives you
nothing no reason whatsoever and no
justification whatsoever to go and curse
him out what he's saying is wrong what
he's doing is wrong perhaps even still
doesn't mean that you're allowed to go s
to something like that no one did
that but that's the problem people have
a rotten
Foundation Horrible character traits and
they think it's good so when when it
happened on Shabbat of Feinstein passed
on Friday B was an enormous sadik one of
the real uh strong pillars behind art
scroll an extraordinary organization
that has brought the light of toraat to
the English speaking world as well as
some other languages as well Spanish
French and I believe some others
too uh but uh I think that if it wasn't
for artscow the english- speaking world
would simply uh you know almost cease to
exist as far as Torah observance is
concerned because the vast majority of
people that do not have a foundation of
to from the minute that they're born are
simply never going to be able to catch
up to your average
Yesa that has uh was brought up in a
religious house learning Hebrew and
understanding what he's reading in a
Kash when he's 15 16 17 years old uh so
if you're a somebody that's starting a
little later or even if you are starting
at that age uh it's a um very very
difficult for people to understand and
to be honest with you even people that
go to some weak yes
uh even when they're born they still
don't develop enough of a language skill
to understand what the gar is talking
about so many times they'll read the gar
and even though they've gone to Yeshiva
they've gone to everything they've read
the gar but they in a Aramaic and Hebrew
mix and they understand maybe three four
5% of it uh meaning it's much better off
for them to to read art scroll and I
always tell people read read the gamar
in your first language don't be a
superhero if you're developed your
Aramaic and Hebrew to the point where
it's become your first language go ahead
and go for it but if it's not you're
wasting your time why because you're
going to miss a lot and you're going to
get to the wrong Foundation but you know
many people were against Art scroll in
the beginning
butom
shalom shalom many were very very much a
uh pillars behind it because they for
saw the future but they also knew enough
Torah to know the
past where they knew that the rambam
himself translated the Torah to to
different languages they knew that at
the time of the bet mikdash they
translated the Torah to different
languages they actually even knew that
at the time of
mosu time of mhu we got the Torah Mount
sa we got Torah mount
along with the Torah we got something
called same
time somewhere around page
70 says that we got a
what's we got a interpretation of the
Torah along with the
Torah we call it
today Unos wasn't alive 3, 300 years ago
he just brought that back to light but
there are some communities in the world
still to this day that when the B reads
the seph
Shabbat he reads a verse and there's
somebody next to him and interprets what
the verse means not gives a whole
commentary rash this that ra no just
tell you what is actually being said
here meaning that mste
DAV all of the the they weren't
innovative in their approval of art
scroll but rather traditional it's only
the AR arrogant and the
ignorant that were against it because
they said no no no you should just know
Hebrew and Aramaic yeah but the vast
majority of the world
doesn't it doesn't and the reality is
that I could show you anybody anybody
you bring that's not a
serious you read one I read one or one
of my students reads one a million
dollars out put if I had it show that he
understands more than you why because
the reality is it's not your first
language you're going to miss some
things you're going to miss some things
now I personally I personally always
tell people I like to read in English
I'm my you know I was born in Israel I
lived there for my first 10 years of my
life I can read Hebrew I have no
problems with the with the Hebrew
language but when I read things I like
to read both in Hebrew and English why
just in case I miss something and many
times I'll miss something
sometimes I'll miss it on the Hebrew
side sometimes I'll miss it on the
English side because there are certain
words you can't
translate but the reality is that people
that don't know the tradition they think
no it was Innova nothing Innovative
about it this is what we've done
throughout all of our Traditions but
that's the key the key is when you don't
have the right ashfa the right mentality
behind why things are done for you can
get really confused and to think that
there are certain things that are great
are actually bad the things that is is
is and so on and so forth this leads us
to the next issue which is again the
misunderstanding of the rebuke perhaps
maybe even the constant rebuke it seems
like to some people that we bring out
when we see that there are leaders
especially rabbis that are misleading
people with their teachings you know
telling people things that are simply
wrong telling people sometimes things
that are actually not only wrong but are
damaging and we have had the Merit to go
out there and uh and and put our own uh
you know neck on the line with uh you
know not for free because we get a lot
of headaches to comes that comes with it
uh to expose this you know whether it
was a uh the the missionaries that are
coming into shools or the misbehavior of
rabbis or whatever else in between and
but but for some reason it seems like
people missed some people not everybody
some people missed the point and
have taken the rebuke for the sake of
Torah the rebuke for the sake of a and
turn it into hatred where they actually
think that we hate these people
personally and we wish them bad so
that's why after M Shabbat came out I
had a I don't know how many text
messages from people everybody sending
me some different journalist article
highlighting that you know Rabbi
Jonathan saaks died as if I'm going to
celebrate or something like that
shom as if this is like good news like a
few people told me oh good news
something El why is the good news I met
oh but I I thought he's and he's bad
he's
this first and foremost you have to
understand there's different levels of
of of of bad he definitely wasn't the
worst of them
as far as the things that he said he
said some things that are wrong which
I'll go over briefly but I'll also
highlight certain things that people
need to understand much more than that
which is that no matter who dies you
have to
say why
because is not a compliment or an insult
to the person but
rather a statement of fact that the the
Dan is AEM blessed is the
D of emit of Truth meaning that no
matter if somebody is the greatest sadik
or one of the greatest sadic of the
generation from the family of the
Feinstein of David Feinstein or his
father or or the other
descendants or it's someone that had
some issues some good that he did in his
life for sure and some things that
perhaps were uh not so
good you still say the same thing
and as far as all of the bad things that
you can say this is not the time
why everybody that leaves this world
they already have enough to deal
with your commentary is not adding any
value and
your distasteful
behavior is a weakness in your character
because you don't understand what's what
you don't understand what we're doing
what the whole goal is to get includ in
those people to do chuva and it's very
sad for me it's very sad for me that the
mistake perhaps that we highlighted that
uh Jonathan saak made with his uh
interpretation of the Exodus and his
debate with the atheist wasn't fixed by
him sad because I the reality is he has
to deal with it
now and may hasem have
mercy saying that he thinks that there
is a uh the the uh uh creation was a
Adam and Eve was a parable and there a
mitochondrial eve that there's artifacts
and things from 30 40,000 years ago and
that uh you know if something is not
proven by science it's a uh then a uh
the the sages said that it's you trust
science first you know these were all
incorrect things one thing I can tell
you as a side note is that as far as
this uh for people that like science
in
1997 there was a man a scientist by name
of Parsons who was definitely not a
religious person but uh this scientist
wanted to track back to
see uh an estimate of how many mutations
take place every so often and the
calculation
originally that they had is that every
12,000 years according to the
evolutionist
every 12,000 years there is a mutation
in human
beings and
therefore they believe that there is a
female species which they call a
mitochondrial eve there is a female
species that really somehow magically is
has the DNA that all of us have but she
lived 200,000 years
ago but what they found
is what they they found
is after doing some serious
research is that the mutation estimate
that they had of every 12,000 years is
wrong how wrong we obviously believe
it's zero there's no mutations we didn't
mutate we didn't go from being monkeys
to being human beings surely Some Humans
went to being monkeys but that's in the
Tower of Babel and some went to becoming
elephants and there is definitely some
change in human beings to some extent
there some people that used to be much
bigger than us and so on but for all
intents and purposes it's a uh the uh
it's not the same as what the scientists
are
saying but even their research actually
said that the mutations now they believe
are not every 12,000 years but rather
every 800 years now this may not seem
like such a big deal
until this scientists had a speech that
explained what this actually means in in
real terms is that now the
mitrochondrial
Eve that they estimated to live 200,000
years ago according to the 12,000 years
estimate is now only 6,000 years
old which is the date of when we the
Jewish people say that the Torah was
created 6,000 years ago started so even
according to their own flawed research
they they still arrived at a similar
conclusion same goes with many many
other
things a man by the name of Parsons a
scientist back in 1997 published a paper
where he looked at the control region
that regulatory region of mitochondria
DNA as a molecular clock so he was going
to use that to study some um
relationships and what he expected to
find was that there would be one
mutation every 12,000 years that's what
he expected to find why did he expect to
find that because based on the fossil
record based on radiometric dating all
of those things that humans diverge from
Chimp that's what they had already
assumed the rate would be but they found
something very different now what he was
looking at was Modern human DNA Mothers
Daughters grandmothers granddaughters
looked at
327 different generational events and
found that actually the mutation rate is
much much quicker it's only it's one
mutation every 800 years okay that's
orders of magnitude faster than what
they ever expected now that in of itself
isn't so much of a problem but it is a
huge problem for them when you apply it
to human evolution because the problem
is that mitochondria Eve becomes 6,000
years
old but the point being
is is that this by no
means is what we hold by as far is we
don't start thinking that there is a
major con leave and there 800 years all
that stuff but the point is you see that
Hashem is directing people at least to
the right path to at least give you a
chance give you a chance to do chuva and
and I think that if Rabbi saaks actually
would have done enough research even
before that debate he would have arrived
even in the wrong way he still would
have arrived at a better conclusion than
he did but needless to say this does not
mean that we wanted him to die or we
want anyone to die unless this person is
simply actively and intentionally trying
to murder Jewish n spiritually or
physically like the missionaries
missionaries on the other hand is a
completely different story somebody that
makes some a
mistake a mistake is not someone that we
uh we hate and want to die but for what
whatever reason or another Perhaps it is
my own shortcomings I don't explain
myself well well enough that people
think that they're all in the same
basket this guy that you call the Rasha
and that guy that you call the rash
they're all you know Evil Empire and
it's
wrong and it's wrong in a lot of
different ways because again there are
some people that actively and
intentionally try to mislead people
and there are some
people that simply make a mistake is not
like them in fact even at the times of
the
rambam the G before the rambam called
the rambam a
heretic that came after the ramban was
initially part of a team of big rabbis
that called the ramb a heretic later on
when found out that he was wrong he did
ch for the rest of his life going from
Community to community saying how he was
wrong and based on that he wrote the
very famous
musar point is that there's everything
has levels and degrees and it seems like
we have to explain ourselves even better
to tell people who what when and
how but one of the confusions that
people have is
that there's a one-size fit for
everything there's an easily explanation
for
everything there is a uh
uh some things that the Torah doesn't
have answers
for like some people like to say oh yeah
we don't know what the why the Holocaust
happened anyone that says that is simply
wrong and that's part of the shield
today as well all of
this we will discuss today and see how
the
Shalom helps us arrive at
the we're now
starting a new chapter in
the we're in chapter two which is a
section
called now I can tell
you that it's very
likely that you're no matter who you are
unless you have
are or unless you are aspire to become
one where you seriously study your
translation of what is is
wrong because most of us have been
taught that is to have faith in
AEM and therefore good things will
happen someone that has confidence in
hasem kindness will surround them and
they translate that verse interpret that
verse in a simple meaning and at face
value this is what it is if you have
confidence in hasem good things will
happen the philosophers of the world
like to interpret things that way of
course not based on a Tora but they say
think good and good things will happen
they have a whole uh
teachings uh called The Secret
uh that uh they teach off of this where
they say that if you think positive
positive things will happen in the
Jewish World
unfortunately this is uh the same and uh
much of it actually came from a a
sect of
theid sect of the I can't
say because doesn't teach this teaches
the real
real sect of are people that look
like act more or less like to some
extent but make some
mistakes with certain things this being
one of them that you should have if you
have faith in hasem good things will
happen and this is actually what the k
says
translation there is an old
misconception ction rooted in the hearts
of many when it comes to the concept of
trust
inem this term used by
theim to name a celebrated and sensual
character trait has undergone a change
and has mistakenly become a term to
describe the obligation to believe in
any situation a person finds himself
self in where he faces an undecided
future with two ways apparent one good
and the other not that surely the good
outcome will be the one to occur if one
is doubtful and fears the possibility of
the opposite of good occurring he is
lacking
in says there is a mistake that was
taught by that's what he call he says
it's not me picking on what he says
and to thing know the the the the
translator actually may called them
righteous but it's a mistake in a
translation which again is the is the
reason why he always said if you know
both languages always read in both
languages because later on he mentions
the word and he also translate that to
righteous now surely we all know that
and are two different people two
different
people now you can technically translate
them superficially the same but I don't
think that's what the author the meant I
think he meant
initially and later on
meaning so now he says there's a
misconception misconception
about this trust in
AEM that is used by the to that this is
in essence a
foundational trait to have but it has
under some
change and they have
mistakenly turned what it is what it is
which we'll explain in a
moment into what most of us have
believed or even currently believe what
it is which is that if you were to find
yourself in a difficult situation where
you have two possibilities one is a good
one one is a bad one surely you don't
want the bad one to happen you just got
a letter from the IRS the IRS says you
have problems you now have two options
one it disappears Into Thin Air and the
IRS forgets you even exist or two you
have a serious problem that you have to
deal with lawyers accountants nightmare
money this that two
options and the misconception is is that
if you think that the good will happen
mean meaning that the IRS will just
simply disappear or that perhaps Biden
would just die and they just give the
election to to to to no Obama who's it
the
Trump that that all of this would happen
the bad would just go away if you just
think about the good if you think no no
he's going to win he's going to win
they're going to go away he's going to
win and they're going to go away maybe
he's going to go away to the same place
they're going to go away and you have
this in your mind you you develop a
mantra like the Tony Robins of the world
and the the the all the the famous uh uh
teachers of the world today they tell
you have a mantra repeat the same thing
over and over again and if you repeat it
and it's good good things will happen K
says
wrong simply wrong that analysis is
not it has nothing to do with
actually the fact that you don't want
something to happen and therefore you
wish for something good to happen is not
going to make the good
happen
why this understanding of is not
correct for as long as the future has
not been revealed through prophecy the
future is not decided for who knows
hashem's judgments and
rewards no trusting in hasem is not
that says you think that you could write
the future with your mind that I no no
I'm going to win a million dollars I'm
going to win a million dollar I'm going
to make a million dollars I'm going to
get married also I'm going to have kids
you think that that just you doing that
much or 5 billion times a day you think
that's going to write the
future you actually think the world
works this way did you ever think about
this for a
moment if this really worked we'd all
meditate all day you wouldn't leave the
house you just sit there all day and say
million dollars oh hey how you doing how
are you yeah just a million okay that's
you know what that's what I said okay
million
dollar you're precise I just thought
you're going to be generous like where
do you like where do we get this from
where do we get this it's mistake but
it's not a mistake taught by Heretics
it's not a mistake taught
byom it's a mistake made by meaning
people that are trying to do
good how could this
be I think when we find out what
is in a
moment we will also at the same time
find out why there's a mistake because
you're not going to find modern day's
definition or common definition
of in the books from three four five 600
years ago you're not going to find it
you're not going to find
today's definition in the gar you're not
going to find you're going to find it
here during the lifetime of the K
slightly before slightly after that's
what you're gonna find this window
you're going to find it that's what he's
talking about there's an issue now where
people have changed the real definition
of to positive thinking and therefore
you will now write the future as a
result because you don't want bad things
to happen to you and therefore you wish
good things to happen to you but how
many of us think good and good and good
and bad happens
anyway I thought good Rabbi okay know
what happened bad
okay what do you mean Rabbi I thought if
I think good good things going to happen
who told you that I don't know some guy
that asked me to put on some to fill in
and he said think good think good think
good think good and and what happened
bad things happened did he tell you to
keep Shabbat no do you keep Shabbat
no so why do you think good things going
happen to you because he said think good
yeah but who said to think good I don't
know he said God said but do you know
did you check no I didn't check but one
thing I could tell you for sure and I
could show you God did say to keep
shabat
he did say to keep Shabbat in fact he
said if you don't keep Shabbat he going
to kill
you he said that no he didn't say that
you're you're you're you're crazy Rabbi
I like the other guy he just thinks
think think good yeah but it didn't
work
what's
what's what's if it's not think good and
good things will happen what
is now elaborates
trusting in hasem is not that but rather
the belief that nothing happens by
chance and that everything that occurs
Under the Sun is the result of a decree
of the
almighty that's
meaning rather than you have two options
and you wish that option A because it's
better for you
happens that's not
what's is a clear
understanding that everything that's
happening everything that happened and
everything that will happen is all from
the hand of the almighty it's all from a
and whatever it is that's happening
that's the
best that's
meaning what you perceive as bad and you
don't want it to
happen says no it's good you what do you
mean it's good they're telling me
they're going to find me a million
dollars
perfect
that's when that happens or something
else happens you have to look at either
equation A and B are the same they're
both good why because whichever choice
picks surely it's the best one that's
faith in Hashem that's confidence in
Hashem it's not that you just pick this
one surely we all want good things to
happen but who says you know what's good
for
you who says you know what's good for
you if if good was left to
us I wouldn't even be
here if the definition of good was left
to us to determine I wouldn't be here
why I'd still be on Wall Street or dead
whichever one came
first never in my wildest dreams would I
ever say you know what let me just leave
a 510 million a year job and just go
work for free and get cursed out a few
times a week yeah that sounds like
fun you know what instead of working 16
hours a day pick it up to 20 just to
make sure it's free for
all my definition of good was like
everybody else go make money go do this
go do that never my Wildest Dream did I
think that good is disaster collapse
turmoil Agony pain
to
today never the average person never
thinks that the bad that's happening to
them is good why because they perceive
things like all of mankind a wall that's
in front of them whereas a Kad who sees
all facets of the wall in front of it
behind it through it on the sides of it
top bottom of it and even if it didn't
exist at
all to have confidence in hem to have
inem means that it's not that we wish
something good will happen and therefore
we have the confidence that it will
therefore happen but rather whatever is
happening Hashem that I have confidence
that you the almighty you my Father in
Heaven you are the one that knows all
knowledge you are the one that provides
all good you are the one that wants me
to succeed more than I even want me to
succeed and therefore whatever it is
that you do regardless of what that is
and regardless of what anybody thinks
regardless of that keeps me alive or
that removes me from the worldom
regardless if that is perceived as
positive regardless if it's perceived as
negative you are the one that knows and
I have the utmost confidence in you that
whatever it is that's in front of me is
the best not just good the best means
there are an infinite amount of choices
available
to as far as to bring us from point A to
point B that he wants us to get
to we are at Point a aadh wants us to be
at point
B he could bring us there in any number
of infinite ways that he has we not
always want to go to the same be he
wants us to get to but need is to say we
do want to move forward
somewhere along the way we may have a
tragedy like getting sick we may have a
tragedy like an accident we may have a
loss like money loss or or all types of
losses we may have some pain and some
headaches and and some all types of
emotional issues and so on and so forth
along the way and somehow along the way
sometimes we change destination because
we don't feel like we want that anymore
want something else
and sometimes we change our destination
a few times along the way because when
we were 13 14 15 and 16 we wanted to
become psychiatrist but then we
remembered that when we were actually 12
we wanted to be football players so we
figured maybe we go for the football
psychiatrist or just be a psychiatrist
to the football players but then by the
time you got to 18 you fig let me just
go make some money and then by the time
you were 25 and you made some money you
said I can't stand this I want to do
something else and you keep changing
your whole path keeps changing every so
often because the things you wanted then
are not necessarily the things you want
now for different reasons either because
you already got them and you don't want
them or because you just realize there
just something better for you the point
being is your destination keeps
changing destination for you never
changes and the path that you're
taking based on your choices is still
always going to give you an opportunity
to arrive at that
destination now for a to bring you from
point A to point B is an infinite amount
of
ways and whatever way he chooses whether
that is through turmoil Agony pain and
suffering or pleasure Beauty uh
acknowledgement and honor whatever it
is that choice is by far the best choice
out of all of the choices that are
available in his infinite World meaning
in our mind we figure listen okay I
wanted to be in business but Hashem
wanted to be in me to be in Torah why
couldn't he got me there in a different
way why do I have to go through a
surgery and Agony and pain and
embarrassment and all types of things
why did I have to go through that why he
could why couldn't he just send me like
some r by to come to my office spark my
n wake me up and tell me hey wake up
learn some Torah while you trade some
stocks that's it well guess what that
wasn't available what do you mean it
wasn't available why couldn't he do it
it's not that he couldn't do it out of
all of the
choices that are in his infinite World
my
actions my actions and actions alone
decreed what of those choices are
available to
me he has all of the choices but my
actions make him choose certain things
that become available to
me when you
have an
aspiration to let's say buy a plane you
want to buy a plane and you're say I'm
going to work my whole life to to go one
day and buy a plane but along the way
you decide that okay I'm going to try to
be a Salesman or a doctor or a lawyer or
something professional expert or
engineer or software or something and go
make a bunch of money and you're on your
way and you're working at some company
or you start your own shop and you start
doing things and you're on your way to
making and you start making 100 500 you
go you're on your way to making but then
you figure out you know what I also like
drugs you know what so let me let me SN
a couple of lines while I'm on my way to
buying a plane well guess what the
second you start doing that the choices
Available to You
decrease why because now you have a
habit you have an act that you do in
your life that
hurts hurts your
path now along with the drugs come all
types of other immorality and filth so
that adds to the cost and on top of that
comes life risk in general and on top of
that comes the fact that no one's really
going to pass you uh in in a plane uh
school and flying school and so on and
so forth so even though you're working
and you're doing whatever you're doing
little by little you realize wait a
minute I was going I was going on a
trajectory up and all of a sudden I
crashed and now out of all of the planes
that are available to me after 25 30
years of working
the only available plane to me is the
one that I can buy in a toy store for
$5.99 because I've lost all of my money
I've lost my sanity I can't fly
anything so surely you had a plane on
your trajectory on your radar and it was
a possibility for
you but your
actions changed which plane it is
initially when you first started your
path it could have been anything could
have been a
777 you could have bought an Air Force
jet or something from the Army because
you was 18 years old with a great brain
and everything and within a certain
amount of time you could have probably
bought
one but because you made certain
choices that choice disappeared and it
was replaced by smaller plane continued
making those choices that choice gone
smaller that choice gone smaller smaller
smaller smaller
smaller which means that if you're still
getting that
$5.99 plane 25 years later you still
have to be happy why that's the best
choice you have available to
you the reality is that having in having
confidence in hem is understanding
clearly that everything you have in
front of you currently is the best
available to you can that change over
time sure but that's only going to
change based on actions not based on
mantras repeating the same thing over
and over again or smashing your head
against the wall or saying um it's not
going to do anything other than just
make hasem upset at you for just making
stupid sounds all day like a cow
the reality is is that we were brought
up to believe a
mistake that we are in charge of our
Destiny without doing anything about
it that we could just wish things to
happen because a couple of times we wish
things to happen and they happen so we
figured that's the way it
works
wrong the most important understanding
when it comes to
says is one of the principles of
Faith which is that there is reward and
there is punishment and he elaborates
here saying that the belief that nothing
happens by chance and that everything
occurs Under the Sun is a result of a
decree from Heaven
the says
in that there is not a a single
Finger pricked by a
needle without there being a decree from
the bedine of Heaven meaning some person
decides to saw decides to do uh maybe uh
screw something decides to hammer
something the B of Heaven organizes
themselves say hold on a second Ruben
over there is sewing something he is
knitting something he's hammering
something
let's see it as a count cuz right now
it's a moment of risk it's a moment of
danger may not necessarily be a life
danger but it is a danger he is in a is
in that moment let's evaluate his
account the bedin reviews the book real
time at a place with no time and says oh
ruen deserves to prick his finger with
the needle
he deserves to smash his finger with the
hammer why sh here's the account here's
the bill we have two options available
one option 30 years and G another option
smash his finger with the hammer hasem
says I love my son get him out of G
smash his finger instead why the finger
is going to hurt for a little bit maybe
his nail will have to come off
but more or less he's back to normal
came on 30 years he's traumatized
forever smash his finger I love my kid
bet de of Heaven says that's the dean on
his finger ohem why' you do this to me
and hem is crying and Sh says my son if
you only knew if you only knew what
option you had based on the actions you
made you had some actions you said this
and you said that and you did this and
you did that all of those things were on
a bad list and there was
payment and the bed said listen hasm you
got out of all of the options two are
available
now this one or that one in his Mercy
said no no no he's doing CH he's a good
kid just smash his finger a little
bit is thinking
a for the good and the bad the same way
why there is no bad
that's the brisk
rebi
Shalom he didn't go out to collect money
for
his learned all day learned all day but
you had to pay
salaries money you know especially in
those days it wasn't like today you
could have have some campaign on the
internet and people could just press
donate and give you their hard earned
money those days there wasn't such a
thing if you wanted to get money either
you had to go get it or the miracul had
to arrive to
you the brisk rebi refused to go out to
collect money sit there would learn but
then the end of the month would come and
he would ask his gabai no so how much
money we have in the Koopa how much
money we have in the
bank the gabai says
the whole thing
$170 what do you mean tomorrow we have
to pay salaries says okay Rabbi salary
no salary
$170 so we
have it's okay Mr re
takes starts crying to hasem starts
crying to hasm crying to hasm little
while passes an hour two hours
pass ask good come how much in the Koopa
now R nothing changed no no check check
check check how much is in the Koopa he
checks do7 okay goes back to start
cry another two hours goes back to the
how much do we have
now check check nothing do 70 oh okay
we're still the same not nothing it's
still s didn't go down okay so the
prayers are not being answered yet but
at least it's not getting back okay keep
praying praying after a few hours of
this literally 8 hours of
praying all of a sudden check hold on a
second let me check oh somebody's here
to see the r yeah hi Rabbi listen uh I
wanted to give my uh my my my hey I just
sold a building and here you go 20,000
oh okay yeah give it to the gabai how
much do we need for salaries tomorrow
20,000 okay here you go here check every
single month was like this every month
was like this one time a rich American a
rich American Jew came to his
Yesa he
says I want to
dovah I want to prepay the
K's salaries six months in
advance give you the rabbi what you need
20,000 a month I want to give
120,000 now in six months now you call
give you more
and he writes a check gives it to the r
the
brisbi takes the check folds it puts it
back in the businessman's pocket he says
thank you but I'm not willing to sell my
for any
price to have six months in advance
already paid is going to ruin my be why
I'm already going to have I'm not going
to pray to hasem it's not worth any
price who doesn't want to get set up we
try to have retirement plans and a
retirement of the retirement plan and a
second home and a cabin in the second
home and a fourth car and and a food
just in case there's like Dooms Day and
everything is for future that you may
never even
see the brisk is like no no no I want to
live with a real
time when I need it I want to ask for
it I don't want to have the future paid
for it why I want to pray to when I need
something how does somebody do such a
thing he says I need to do it why I need
to keep trying my own keep testing my
own keep going by you giving me my
expenses prepaid ahead of time by that
much it'll hurt
my CU I feel like I already have it
the K
continues and
says the degree of the action of amuna
faith on the course of life is one of
the character traits of human
beings the traits of humility and mercy
and such
like are not subject to the rules of the
material world for material forms are
connected to boundaries and measurements
when material
objects loses its boundaries it loses
its
form a broken clay pot is not a clay pot
at all but rather just a Shard human
traits are not like that but rather have
different levels on a
scale every honest person has some
humility and some mercy in his
personality but people defer in the
levels of these qualities they
possess so through the trait of has
different levels from low to the
high so here he now goes and he tries to
elaborate or actually try Trace back a
little
bit of what we talked about last week
when it came
TOA because the
prerequisite to have is to havea amuna
being defined is having faith that hasem
runs the
world understanding in a Clarity that
Hashem runs the world and as we learned
last week to have that Clarity that
Hashem runs the
world we need to refine our character
traits it is not something that if you
just repeat to yourself I believe in hem
therefore you believe in hasem it's not
that I just say listen I trust you know
I I love hem and therefore it all work
like a lot of people think no no I love
hhm do you keep Shabbat no but I love
hem how do you love hem while you
violate Shabbat what do you mean I can't
love hem while violating Shabbat
no the love is expressed through actions
you can't say you love your wife if you
keep cheating on
her you can't say you love your business
if you're looking forward to
retirement love is expressed through
action so in order to say that you love
AEM you have to have an actions that are
fitting which means you have to listen
to him yeah but you listen to him
differently than I do no no there is no
different there's either listening to
him or not listening to him is either
following the Torah or not following T
there is no your way of following and my
way of following there's no such thing
it's either you do what he says in the
Torah or you don't do what he says in
the
Torah and that's the misconception some
people have where they think that
everybody is entitled to their own
belief it's like no no you're strict
you're too strict I need somebody that's
more lenient there is no such
thing more lenient is
sinning that's what more lenient
means now surely there are certain
things that you can be more stringent on
and more lenient on but never violating
them there is no leniency that would
allow you to drive on Shabbat or use one
of those electronic
scooters there is no leniency like
that there is no leniency that will
allow you to eat pork or a a
cheeseburger there is no leniency like
that there is a leniency when it comes
to the level of meat if you want to go
by the high level of Kash versus let's
say the raban in Israel they have more
of that than they do in in the states
and other countries there is a leniency
as far as when it comes to
specific between different Traditions
asazi Safari there is leniency even in
regard or stringencies actually I should
say when it comes to let's say observing
Shabbat some people keep Shabbat based
on R which is longer than versus Rashi
which is shorter but there that's within
the framework of
allowed and obligated not the not
allowed there is no leniency that all to
keep half of Shabbat there's no such
thing there's no no you're strict and my
Rabbi is more lenient there's no such
thing it's either you keep or you don't
keep there is no Al that will ever allow
a woman to walk around immodestly there
is no such
thing no such thing there is no that
will allow a woman that's married to
walk around without covering her hair
there is no such
thing there are certain foundational
principles in Judaism if your Rabbi
allows something that's contrary to
those laws he is steering you the wrong
way and the reality is is that many
times people call me and they ask and
know they send me messages more like it
and tell me listen Rabbi am I allowed to
go to the sh I said yeah you're allowed
to go to Sho it's a good thing to go to
Sho no no no I have to go to this
specific Sho I said what's wrong with
this specific Sho he says well the SHO
it's not a very big Sho it's not a very
big community and uh the rabbi you know
he only usually gets during the week 10
people to come pray I said okay 10
people's man it's good he goes well
that's the problem one of those 10 is a
uh somebody that's M Shabbat I said okay
M's no good then he goes well I'm not
finished another one of those 10 is his
10-year-old son I said what what do you
mean he's 10-year-old son he can't be
part of a minion he has to be he has to
be of age to accept me
oh okay so and another guy we're not
even sure if he's Jewish okay so you're
going to a seven people prayer
individually it's like yeah but the
rabbi and his friend the rabbi they take
out the Torah and they tell us that
the say
am so I can't go there I said you didn't
understand the first
thing it's not a me
there is no leniency that will
allow that drives to on Shabbat be part
of
a there is no leniency like
that now there are leniencies that will
allow you to say Amen to the's blessing
if he doesn't know what Shabbat is if
he's uh you know he's new and so on but
if the guy is driving to sh 10 years no
there is no leniency to say Amen to His
blessings
even he's considered one of the haters
of
God he could say I love God as much as
he wants and the rabbi can say Amen to
His blessings all he wants but they're
both
wrong and that's the thing that people
need to know is that
sometimes you have to do the homework
yourself in order to clarify your life
because getting
clarification on these questions that
you have on these issues that you have
on these doubts you have will actually
bring you not only Clarity but also
bring you happiness because you'll know
that at least I'm going in the right
path and you also know that if good
things follow you know why and if bad
things follow you know
why now to have
thisa is one of your character traits he
says but but this trait
ofuna is something spiritual similar to
the trait of humility and
mercy These
Are Spiritual things having humility is
a spiritual
attribute not a materialistic or
physical
attribute having
a mercy is a spiritual trait of a
spiritual tribute that you'd have not a
physical one what's his
proof he says if it was
material if your humility was something
that would come to you
naturally is better said you were born
with it you were born with humility you
were born with Mercy you were born with
everybody just you're part of your DNA
some people think that you're born a
certain way and therefore you're that
way says not so not so some people have
more likely to be this than that but not
all of the traits all of the traits in
essence Are Spiritual attributes that in
essence you're supposed to acquire
they're not something that are physical
that are within your DNA to be that way
why because if it was something physical
if your faith your your mercy your your
uh your humility were all physical
attributes
then they would not be able to be
changed they would not be able
to be at degrees and levels why because
something that's physical something
that's
tangible generally speaking can't change
and what is he compare it to he says if
you take a pot of
clay pot of clay okay everybody has a
visual of a clay pot right now if you
break that pot
those
pieces what are they a pot of clay are
they uh pieces of a pot of
clay no they're neither they're just
clay the part of clay is only when
it's
complete calling it pieces of a pot of
clay is irrelevant why cuz you can't put
it back together there for what's left
of it it's just Pieces Just Shard just
just debris nothing it's
garbage he says that
if
your spiritual attributes
of humility mercy and the likes were
something that you could either be born
with or not born with meaning it's part
of your
physicality they would not be able to
change either you are have it or you
don't have it either you are have uh
you're you're born with humility or
you're not born with humility either you
have mercy or you don't have mercy and
he says this is not the reality why
because human traits are not like that
but rather they have different levels
and they are on a
scale every honest person has some
humility and some mercy in his
personality meaning even the guy that
doesn't really care about anybody but
himself still there's a line he won't
cross there's still a line that you won
he doesn't care about any anybody but
himself but if he's still like a
genuinely like a overall like an honest
person a decent human being he won't
just kill some cat for no
reason he won't do certain things if if
somebody comes to them listen either you
give me a cup of water I'm going to die
if he's a decent person even though he's
a selfish person an arrogant and
obnoxious person he's still going to
give that person a cou of water why
because there's a line he may not give
him a house even if he has 500 houses he
may not give him uh you know money even
though he has millions but he won't let
the guy die in front of him there's a
line he won't
cross people defer in the levels of
these qualities that they
possess so too the trait ofuna has
different levels from the low to the
high those of
littlea are still included among the
faithful for they're not included among
the atheists and the
Heretics but their faith is weak and is
not capable of controlling them except
when it comes to some of the better
known transgressions that are avoided by
the entire Society he
says the people that have weak Faith
weak amuna as long as they're not part
of the atheist that don't believe in God
at all or the Heretics to just simply
make up their own religion in their mind
they may not have a lot of faith in
hasem they may not have a lot of but
they have something and that something
is not enough it's not strong
enough to run their life they still
think they need to work overtime in
order to make a living they still think
they need to hustle and bustle in order
to buy that house they still think they
need to go out to a club to go find a
wife and it's not because the shid
system is not going to work for them
they still feel like they need to
contribute a little more than they
really should why cuz their Runa is fake
it's it's almost like not existent but
it does exist it's it's little it's
little but none but it still exists
though it's still there as long as
they're not Heretics they're not
atheists he says what is this amuna that
they have this little baby amuna that
they have this little baby amuna it
can't run their life because when it
comes to money they don't have any amuna
they feel like they need to work when it
comes to finding a wife or a husband
they feel like they need to do the extra
money to to to find one when it comes to
uh things that are difficult in life
they figure that they have to do what
they got to do to go find things and
make things happen so that amuna is not
really controlling their life but that
little baby amuna will keep them away
from the more
well-known sins among everybody meaning
they won't kill
anyone because they know God watching
and Hashem is going to punish them
eventually nothing good will happen as a
result of killing someone or stealing or
doing any of these things that everybody
knows is wrong that little bit of baby
it'll keep them out of that it may
not get them to do a lot of other things
but at least it keeps them at
Bay some people have greater a faith
greater
auna and it's effect is more
noticeable the deferring level and
grades exist also among
theim though they all live by their
faith they too defer individually some
more elevated than others and some even
more highly elevated than
that
now
the amount ofuna that a person
has is not something that's supposed to
stay the same their whole
life rather what he's trying to tell us
here is that the amuna of a
person first starts with their
understanding that God runs the world
then them understanding that they they
need to
improve this faith that God runs the
world by improving their character
traits and that's build this amuna to
arrive at the ultimate level which is
having a high level of which is
confidence inem that both the good and
bad are both
good which means that your imuna my
imuna our imuna is supposed to be
something Dynamic if you will it's
supposed to actually grow over time or
at the very least not be the same under
all circumstances some things you have a
high level of amuna some things perhaps
a little baby amuna when it comes to
money high level ofuna Rabbi I'm giving
everything for Torah when it comes toid
no he's still going out to nightclubs
because he doesn't think that is going
to come to his house he doesn't
think not so good but nonetheless at
least he has something that he can rely
on that's
good the point is it's supposed to
you're supposed to grow all of it over
time how do you grow it you have to test
it you have to put it up to the test and
that's what necess if you don't put it
up to the test hasem puts it up to the
test
now don't think for a second that so
long as you're not in the stage of
that weak person with NOA that you know
refuses to burn a so therefore at least
I'm not like you know I'm not bad like
that no no the guy that won't burn the
doesn't necessarily mean that he's in
good
shape doesn't mean he in good shape he
won't burn because he has a little bit
of a but it's not doesn't mean he's in
good shape he's struggling he's struggl
ling a lot why because first of all is
amuna is very vulnerable and second of
all it's not enough to carry him through
life's troubles in the right path
because isuna is not actually dictating
where he's going and how he's
going
now
the this
week's says that s men who
died and
that in verse in chapter
23 verse
number
two says that AB came to ulize
sah and bewail her meaning cry over her
but the
word that he to cry over her as I told
you guys a few days ago last
week is spelled in such a way
that the word is normal spelled normal
but the size of one of the letters the
is small and it's not a printing error
like when I first saw this I thought it
was an
error and but then I saw the commentary
that no no it's not in error it's
actually even written like this not just
in it's also written like this in
the intentionally like this why to teach
us a lesson that when cried over his
dear wife sah he only cried a little
bit a little bit now surely you could
say what I said last
week which the T said that AB knew that
Sarah caused this damage to herself by
our own actions by in essence calling
judgment to him and her because she
believed that when he prayed since
didn't have any kids for almost a
hundred years and then she gave him haal
and as soon as he married a girl they
you know they had a kid is he got her
pregnant right away some say that she
had initially a miscarriage and then had
is but the point is that he had a kid
right
away and S said look you had a kid right
away meaning that the problem is not
with you the problem is with me which
means that when you pray to have kids
while we you know we're together you
only pray for yourself you didn't pray
for us to have kids so see the problem
was left with me I'm not going to have a
kid and you have a kid now your problem
is solved but I'm still stuck here
because you didn't pray for me so let
God be the judge between you and
me that because of you I didn't have a
kid she blamed him for not having a
kid and punished her for this and took
many years out of our life she died
before him 50 years before him but the
point is that AB
understood that Sarah menu lost many
years of our life because of the mistake
she made and therefore the says he
didn't mourn her too much because you
don't mourn people that commit
suicide now if he didn't write this we
wouldn't be allowed to say such things
was but the point being is that to
arrive at such a conclusion obviously
has to have the ultimate ultimate
ultimate level of
of that even at the time of the highest
vulnerability he just almost sacrificed
his
son he comes back from
he sees that his wife is dead I mean it
just can't get any worse but yet he
still understands that it's a that's
running the world to have such a high
level of amuna he wasn't born this way
he was born into a house of idol
worshippers his father was the Walmart
of of
Idols you had to go be put up to the
test where uh n threw him into the
fire the highest level of test that any
human being ever had
had so it wasn't that he was just born
naturally with the highest level of AA
it had to grow each test got worse than
the other each test got more difficult
than the other so by the time he got to
Sarah's
test he was already at the highest level
you ever was and he understood that even
the death of Sarah is from a it's the
best possible option there's no need to
cry too much over
it same thing happened with David aik
his
descendant
when
DAV had a
son that
died a baby that died that he had with B
cha before the baby died the baby was
very sick and David was crying
hysterical to hem praying to
him but then they announced the baby
died as soon as the baby died stopped
crying immediately and asked for some
food to
eat ask for some food to
eat that were there were puzzled like
what's going on here just a few moments
ago you were crying hysterical over the
kid cuz you were sick now he died you're
not even crying you atat what is this
thing that you
did teaches us an extraordinary lesson
he says while the boy was still
alive I cried to maybe will have
mercy maybe will have mercy and let the
kid live but now that the boy already
died what's there to cry over I'm not
looking to die and the boy is not coming
back to
life whatever happened that's the will
of
hasem now surely this is not even
something that you could even fathom
ever doing or hopefully never having to
do but the point is that these a that we
have the the the the
DAV this is we are supposed to think
when am I when am I when am I going to
get to such a level meaning we need to
Aspire to get to get to such a level but
you can't aspire to get to such a level
without even being able to handle your
morning test waking up on
time you can't aspire to get to such a
level without even uh you know being
able to give M on a regular basis and
not thinking no maybe I won't have money
to
eat you can't Aspire without actually
going to the
test
now he says that even theim have
different
levels there a story that was uh
publicized in the last 24 hours in
is that
I heard from Rim really puts things in
perspective there was
a
in that was a
genius in Tor in
in very well respected
10 years
ago he noticed that he has a
bump on the
side and he ignored it for a little
while but then he noticed that it's
growing
rapidly so his body started
hurting and he went to the doctor doctor
said you have to go to the emergency
room right away
they took him to the emergency room
immediately the doctors were extremely
nervous they gave him a CT
scan and
then the doctor came with the
news I'm sorry to tell
you that you have a tumor the size of a
ball in your body and no more than three
months to
live but since you're
gonna die
anyway if you want we can at least try
to use some
experimental therapy on
you it's probably not going to work but
at least we could learn something out of
it
the said no got up and
left got up and left he went
to who uh the outmost expert in uh
medical treatment where he
knows more about the human body than
probably any doctor in the world where
you come to
him and you tell him you have a certain
uh medical condition he tells you which
doctor is the best doctor in the world
to deal with your unique
condition he's been doing it for many
many years as a service to the public
for free and has helped countless people
people he's developed relationships with
all of the best experts in the world but
of course you can't just say this guy is
good cuz he makes a lot of money you
have to understand of
yourself anyway he went to him and ra
says listen they're saying that you have
a short amount of
time at least try the
medicine he didn't want to he went to
another expert he said listen you're
right it's it's it's it's terrible it's
probably not going to work but let's try
it didn't like it
so he went to
rki R
kvki said to him listen you have to do
your at least try the
treatment he said yeah but but they
saying it's not going to work and I have
maybe's it's going to help
meki says listen if you're at such a
high level ofuna that you believe that
AEM is going to help
you then perhaps the way you deal with
it is different
but you should still do
something long story
short the answers he got from everybody
were
insufficient
cuz most of them told him to do
something about
it and to just not do anything about it
didn't seem necessarily the right
fit so you ended up going to Rabbi David
one of the descendants of the
babaali he comes to him he
says tears shows him his entire medical
file says the doctor says I have three
months to live what do I
do says to him he's
right you should do the
treatment or there's another option huh
what's the other option it's the first
time you he another option I mean the
other option of not doing anything is
not really another
option so it's either do the treatment
or another option surely what's the
other
option he says
accept embarrassment that's going to
come to
you bring embarrassment to
yourself
what what do you mean embarrassment
people embarrassing you fun of
you accept
it people know me I give lectures this
that okay it's
either you go get burned by this
treatment or you let the suffering
that's going to come from being
embarrassed change the decree from
Heaven because that's burning this
cancer for
you he was confused all the way
the right
from there to back
to as confused as can be suffering
suffering what could I do to bring
suffering comes by itself what do I have
to do he's saying specific unique
suffering like getting
embarrassed in the morning he wakes up
tells his wife that's it I'm not going
to the col
anymore sure I'm going to study on my
own but from now on I'm going to go to
the local supermarket I'm going to work
in
their vegetable Department giving people
vegetables says what the doctor said you
have three months to live this is what
you want to do with the last three
months of your life says this is what
I'm going to
do people thought he was crazy he goes
to the supermarket yeah can you give me
a job what Rabbi what a job can I can I
get vegetables to people whatever the
minimum wage is I work for that I'll
give the vegetables you know Tomatoes
potatoes the blue pepper the green
pepper this pepper that pepper all the
the whatever all the peppers I want to
do
that uniform everything Rabbi
respectable hat this everything all of a
sudden he looks like he works at the
local
supermarket with a long beard and
everything and he's given he what do you
need huh what do you need oh the blue
Peppers the orange ones are on sale
Orange ones on sale they're really tasty
right okay I'll put three I'll put put
in your bag put in your bag the red
one's actually not so bad it's good for
soup people are looking what everybody
knows who he
is what happened to him is he crazy
start talking to him what are you doing
here you need Peppers you need potatoes
you need vegetable what do you need
what's the matter with you this what you
do can R by you and start making fun of
him what you're doing here what's the
matter with you go back to the call what
are you giving up the Tora what are you
becoming you're becoming secular you're
leaving God oh tearing him
apart tearing him
apart he didn't tell
anybody and he dealt with this day after
day day after day day after
day the article that was just published
or the the uh the conversation that my
was just a part of he says I am now
alive for 10
years not 3
months 10
years Doctor can say whatever he wants
to
say
says listen there's a decree in sh it's
the best you want to sweeten it you want
something a little different you have to
do something different you have to do
something different
now a
person has to that that wants
to get to be get
to has to understand these basic
principles that is the one that is
decreeing everything and
anything that is happening in the
world
because if you see so far the journey
that the K has taken us is that after we
learned so many things about and all of
the good things about it he sums up that
section by telling us you're never going
to get to amuna without fixing your
character
traits and you're never going to get to
without
having now we learn that it is the
character
traits that connect the two
therefore when a person
has Horrible character traits such as
arrogance rather than having
humility they themselves are
self-destructing their own meaning it is
impossible for an arrogant person to
ever have even a remote an ounce of in
their
body because that tra
itself is destroying it on the other
hand a person that is acquiring the
trait of humility by default that
humility will lead him to be how so by
humbling yourself to the point of
understanding that you are nothing hasem
is everything
and you'll eventually arrive at the
page
15b that says the snake doesn't
bite for its own sake he doesn't get any
pleasure out of it rather he bites
because this is a mission from
God the bad that is happening or at
least what we perceive as bad that's
happening is not an Essence in itself
bad but rather this is a decree from God
which leads us to how this is all
connected to some of the things we
talked about in the
beginning of how people
misunderstand the treatment of some of
the people that have perhaps made a
mistake in some of their speeches some
even more so than
others we have a
Mitzvah we have 613
mitzvot and
written a little over 700 years
ago mitvah
says you shall not take revenge and you
shall not bear a grudge against the
members of your people Leviticus
1918 this Mitzvah is the prohibition to
take
revenge we the Jewish people are
forbidden from taking
Revenge now this specific verse talks
about two one is the revenge and one is
bearing a
grudge now the the says
in he says the
following we're commanded not to take
revenge that is to say we're
prohibited from exacting Revenge from
another
Jew the description of this matter is as
follows in a situation where one Jew has
wronged or caused pain to his fellow Jew
with regards to any
matter where the usual practice of most
people in the world in such a situation
is that they will not cease to pursue
the person that wronged them until they
have repaid him his wrong or they' have
made him suffer as he made them
suffer it's from this type of conduct
that hasem blessed is he has restrained
us with his statement you shall not take
revenge meaning somebody just hurts
you he just hurt
you you were
looking to get
married you were on a
shid
right the girl likes you the boy likes
you suddenly after a few dates they stop
answering the phone what happened I
don't know what happened I don't know
what
happened not
sure word gives
around ended for unknown
reasons
then you find out she or he stopped
talking to you because this other person
told them N I don't think it's for
you not for you why you
know you're better than that you're
better than
that you are about to start a family you
are about to start your
life but this men just ruined it for you
why you had a few few words to
say this stuff happens all the
time it's so bad I had one time student
of
mine a month before his wedding less
than a
month says to me RAB I need to talk to
you I said what
happened say I don't know if I want to
get married said why not I don't know my
best friend told me maybe I shouldn't
get married said who what wa your best
friend Satan who's what do you mean your
best friend me goes I don't know he said
to me I don't know may you sure you like
her I said yeah of course I like her I
don't know maybe you don't like her and
you don't know
it what I don't know maybe today you
like this and tomorrow you're going to
like something
else you never know you
know so I don't know since he told me
all this stuff I it make sense to you he
goes no it doesn't make sense to you say
so what's the problem say I'm confused
now I said he he's not married is he he
said no I said that's why he's a rash
and he's jealous and you should do
whatever you can to disconnect from this
person he's an evil
person the guy mamash was almost on the
verge of breaking his wedding why some
idiot got in the
way now guess what
in both
cases says you're not allowed to take
revenge you're not allowed to hold the
grudge both
cases that's hard to
swallow why revenge is
sweet you got a revenge for him oh what
to Revenge you got him hey hey Steve hey
how are you listen I got a sh for you I
got a sh for you yeah you have for me
yeah yeah I have a for you yeah yeah
here's the number okay okay third date
you call the girl so what do you think
of him oh I think he's great listen I
don't think he's for you what but you're
the one that set me up yeah I made a
mistake made a mistake sorry it's not
for you I I have somebody else for you
though really thanks oh thanks okay what
should I tell don't tell him nothing
I'll tell him I'll tell don't worry hey
Steve yeah sorry to tell you man she
can't stand you sorry buddy yeah yeah
said you I don't know something about I
don't know what she said she said
something I she said something about
smelling or something I don't know where
did you take what did you guys do I
don't know something was wrong she said
she doesn't want to talk to you she so
offended by something that you said she
can't even talk to you just let it go
man just let it go oh man I can't
believe it I thought I was going to get
I thought I was going to get married and
you are like celebrating in your
heart what a
Revenge
s sin delicious funny Sin from what does
it
mean means that's what means going to
burn for that
sin but it's sweet but he did it to me
exactly he did it to you now do
back every Wednesday we
say who is the god of Vengeance God of
Vengeance has
arrived he's the only one allowed to
deal with it not
you but how can you swallow this pill
it's hard because sometimes you have
that the the revenge is in your hand she
did something so bad to you I got to get
her back she did this to me she made fun
of me in front of everybody and she did
this to me and she called me this and
she did that and you got it and says
you're not allowed and you'll get
punished if you do how can you but you
haven't how can you swallow that I mean
you got to become
overnight brings one of the mid one of
the called
the and he says the
following
now how
far does the force of the prohibition of
taking Revenge
extend it applies even to a case where
one does not actively harm his fellow in
Revenge as follows meaning not only
you're not allowed to take revenge but
even if the Revenge doesn't really hurt
the other person it's still
forbidden that's how extraordinary this
is meaning it's not just revenge like I
just described to you guys and made half
of you smile the other one half
cry stop like that even if the Revenge
doesn't hurt the person it's not
allowed even if the grudge is in your
mind it's not
allowed how
so one person says to
another lend me your tool your
sickle but he didn't lend it to him for
no reason just didn't feel like giving
it them not because he was concerned
you're not going to give it back or
something like that no he just doesn't
feel like I don't want to feel like it
no why why not I don't feel I don't feel
like doing it yeah but I need to build
something okay build it I use your hand
I don't want to give with
you that's it that's the reason he gave
you one person asked for for a tool he
didn't want to live to him on the
following day the second person who was
refused who had refused to perform the
favor the previous day goes back to the
same to the first person and says lend
me your Hatchet the guy that said no I
don't want to lend you something he came
back to the guy that he didn't want to
lend him said can you blend me
something the first one replied I'm not
going to lend it to you just like you
didn't lend me the tool I'm not going to
lend to
you this
response is a sin from the you shall not
take
revenge yeah but he's not even it's not
even like a tool that's going to save
his life
it's not like uh he needs this water to
so he Al he's going to die no he just
needs a hammer I don't feel like giving
him my hammer cuz he didn't give me a
hammer Sin from the Torah not from the
rabbis from the Tor that sin is from the
tor
based on this
illustration this illustration serves as
a model from which we can deduce that
the prohibition encompasses any form of
retaliation for a
wrong now what's the purpose of this
Mitzvah the gives us a taste why do we
even have this mitzvah okay we can
understand it's better for society
there's going to be less say fighting
because you're not allowed to do this
but still how can we swallow this
pill especially when you're the one that
was
wronged among the underlying purposes of
this says is that a person must know
intellectually and must internalize in
his Consciousness the idea that
everything that be Falls him be it good
or bad is an orchestrated event brought
upon Him
by and from the hand of
man from the hand of one man to his
brother no matter shall occur except by
the will of
hem therefore when another person causes
him pain and
suffering a person must realize that his
own sins were the cause and Hashem
Blessed Be he decreed this injury or
suffering upon
Him accordingly he must not focus his
thoughts upon exacting Vengeance from
the one who has harmed him since that
person is not truly the cause of his
distress for rather it's his own sin
that's the true cause of the
distress therefore one should direct his
thoughts and feelings in this matter
as David did when
shim heaped curses and stones at
him in the book of Samuel 2ter
16:1 and he says a verse leave him and
be it leave him be and let him curse for
hasem blessed the see has told him
to that theid blamed the mattera on his
own sin rather than on his antagonist
shim
so
now here we just got an atomic
bomb because in
essence everything that the K told us is
the reason for this
mitvah
meaning something bad has happened to
you
somebody did that something bad to
you you are not allowed to take revenge
against him why T says
forbidden but you're also not allowed to
have a grudge against
them because T says it's forbidden now
that's hard for you to swallow because
wait a minute I'm angry at her because
she did something bad to me I'm angry at
him because he did something bad to me
how could I not be
angry by understanding that the
something bad that happened to you was
not them the something bad that happened
to you was a result of your actions you
did something bad therefore Hashem sent
you something bad as a
response so rather than being angry at
her rather than having a grudge and
holding and want to have revenge against
him you are
trajcevski where should it be at
yourself the only person you should be
angry at that bad things happened is
yourself why because it happened because
of your actions not them they were
simply used as a
vessel as the
says that doesn't mean says that you
bring the bed of Heaven brings the uh
the Merit to those that are meritorious
and the obligation to those that have an
obligation meaning that the guy that was
used or the girl that was used to insult
you by a k it doesn't mean that they're
good they're still bad but it's not for
you to be angry at them it's not for you
to have revenge against
them they wanted to do something bad and
therefore hasem gave them the ability to
do something bad but you are still
forbidden from taking revenge against
them why because he only allowed them to
do the bad that they wanted to do
because you did something bad make
sense they wanted to do something bad
Hashem allows them to do something bad
it's free will but they're only allowed
to do something bad to someone that
deserves the bad if you happen to be the
person that deserves that
bad he's going allow them to do
something bad to you but not because
they are bad and you are bad but rather
because you're bad deserved them to to
to uh to to hurt you so instead of
spending all of your energy trying to
take revenge against them you have to
use that energy and understand that it's
your fault because no human being
possesses the power to bestow goodness
upon another or harm among another
unless is decreed by
a and a person has to realize that
whatever experiences they have even if
brought through another human being all
of it is from God and all of it is part
of his
plan he was only used as the right hand
that slapped you in front of 20 people
because he wanted to slap people but not
only because of that because you deserve
the slap because you did something to
deserve the slap so rather than try to
find a way to embarrass him back you
have to have some introspection self-
introspection and say why did
a
decide and decree for me to get
embarrassed
publicly now
this is in essence the foundation
of because bet is believing that both
the good and the bad are not good or
it's all Hashem it's all
good it's all from
hasem and that's what made
DAV the fourth carrier of
the although had a very very difficult
life his own son tried to kill him his
other son raped his daughter uh he had a
son die he had all types of problems the
first king sha was a sadik tried to kill
him for many years he had a very
difficult life his own father thought
that he was a child out of adultery and
all types of
things very difficult
life but yet did not decide to make DAV
the carrier of the until this event
that's mentioned here
by where after AB Shalom son
chases David out of the Kingdom David is
running away so he doesn't have to kill
his own
son meaning this is a moment of
suffering for David his own son is
trying to kill him there's nothing more
embarrassing than that that could ever
exist in the world his own son is trying
to kill him D flees so he doesn't have
to kill his own
son so at the worst moment in the world
shim which was the head of the saned
it's not some some
gangster the top Rabbi in the
world sees
the takes some rocks and throws it at
him DAV is not by himself he's got
soldiers warriors with him
the biggest Rabbi old man starts taking
rocks throws it at him and if that's not
enough he curses him a curse
called
what's he calls him every bad name under
the
sun no is an
adulterer a m is a a child of a uh
adultery
Wicked uh all type murderer
everything all the worst things in the
world and not oneon-one front of
everybody now David's General next to
him is a
warrior he says to him why should we let
this dog
say such things about my master let me
just go and flick his head off one
little with the sword and a head becomes
a memorabilia he becomes a distant
memory at the moment of weakness the the
greatest weakness in a person's life
could possibly
be he's completely in full full
confidence in
hasem he says don't touch
him he is only a tool that hasem is
using to curse me because of some sin
that I made he's only a
tool he's only a tool hashem's using the
problem is me I did something because if
it wasn't decreed by
a that this would happen no person in
the world could hurt me the fact that
he's embarrassing me in public means I
deserve the
embarrassment and if I deserve the
embarrassment then I have to do CH
because Who Wants To Be A person that a
decides that he deserves
embarrassment the Fulfillment of this
Mitzvah serves to put a stop to the
feuding and wipes away any enemy from
people's hearts ultimately there is
peace among people hasem will make peace
for
them you see is that one of the
beautiful purposes of
this is that not only do it help a
person's bet but also it's good for
society because if we now start
operating our life as if no matter what
happens in your life you're no longer
allowed to carry a grudge you no longer
allowed to take revenge against
people half your anxiety with people
your relationship with people if not 90%
of it is gone not because you don't feel
the pain but you know you're not allowed
to express it that
way when that pain happened to you when
somebody hurts you you can't express it
as I'm going to get her back I'm going
to get him back no if it happens and
when it
happens it's a sign from a my dear
daughter my dear son it's time to do
chuva why I just sent you a personal
first class message of public
embarrassment Agony and pain because I'm
telling you you did something wrong and
I want you to do
Chua and a person that understands this
knows that he's to do it what's going to
cause him to do it
the the confidence that this is indeed
it it's not like just in my mind no no
it is if somebody publicly embarrasses
me but it's not if it's money it's not
if it's this no no it's everything
anything that's bad that happens in a
person's life it's always from hasem
anything that's good for me person's
life it's always from everything is from
hasem when a person has that confidence
in hm that in they understand that
everything is from hasem now on the
other
hand the completes the point with
something beautiful he says the mitvah
applies in every location and in all
times to both men and women meaning it
doesn't matter if you're in Israel or in
the Exile it doesn't matter if you lived
at the time of the 700 years ago or you
live today in 2020
5781 this mitvah applies in every
location and in all times to both men
and women doesn't matter if you're
doesn't matter if you have a long beard
doesn't matter if you're religious not
religious doesn't make a difference this
mitvah not take revenge not allowed to
have
Grudge applies to everybody at all
times
further one who transgress es this
mitvah by fixing in his
heart to hate his fellow for having
wronged him and then harboring this
hatred until he actually succeeds in
repaying him in kind for his evil has
violated this
prohibition his manol is indeed great
for by doing so he is the cause of
extensive
pitfalls look at this beautiful
commentary he gave us he says to us you
have I gave you the mitvah of what to do
what not to do I then gave you why you
should listen to what to do what not to
do because there's a reason for it it
benefits Society it's also a high level
of right and top of it I told you it's
applicable at all times and all places
kind of closing in all the corners
closing in all the corners of excuses of
why you're going to continue having
revenge and Vengeance and anger at
people and oh Raba you really made me
angry cuz you said this and I don't like
it and I got a cousin like that like
closing in all the corners but then
always has to be always has to be a nice
D you know D is like a little cherry on
top to finish it all sweet one what does
he says he says to us this action a
person you continue this you become the
cause of extensive pitfalls meaning what
meaning
what the fact that something bad
happened to you in the first place and
the guy embarrassed you in public and
the girl embarrassed you in public and
you lost money and you lost a job and
you lost a shid and all the disasters
happened in the person's place we just
learn that's because of you they that
cause you this embarrassment this loss
and so on we're simply used as a tool
from
a but in essence you're not all to take
revenge against them because they're
just a tool for hasem don't worry
hashem's going to deal with them but if
you do take revenge or better yet you
don't take revenge but you still hate
them in your heart you still I can't
wait till I have a juicy one to get him
back you still carry that the says you
now become the reason for even further
pitfalls why cuz now you're now making a
new sin you already made a sin
originally to deserve the public
embarrassment and the car and the
monetary laws and the stomach aches and
the bathroom visits and the breakup in
the relationship and the job you already
caused enough damage to yourself with
your original sin and now instead of
doing listening to the listening to what
do you do no no no it's his fault he did
it she did it ah now you're making a new
s then now you're bringing even more
suffering on
yourself because you're not doing
chuva in essence you're just making the
situation worse than it needed to be
this explains people's trajectory of
problems when they go in life usually
problems they don't happen like oh once
in a blue sometimes you see certain
people and really most of us it's like
something starts and then it's just like
a road of problem
s it's like something happened somewhere
in the star somewhere and it was decided
this guy is going to hell but on earth
like everything was going great
wonderful and all of a sudden everything
goes
to what happened one thing after another
one thing after another one thing after
another this is the
explanation this is the explanation this
is the secret to life this is the secret
to life
the first issue that happened in our
life that was because of a sin that was
because of something that we
did the messenger that Hashem used was
only supposed to be a messenger you made
him into
God he was just a messenger but you made
him into God by spending all of that
energy taking revenge and having a
grudge and I hate you and I'm going to
get you back H you made Adit to God what
happened as a result got another problem
why that's another
sin now you got another problem but from
a different messenger first one was an
employee second one is a
supervisor now you hate him too guess
what another
sin what's another sin another problem
all of a sudden the wife can't stand you
what does it have to do with you all of
a sudden what you're in you're on their
side no I don't know sometimes you're
wrong honey what I'm wrong now your
Grudge I hate her oh guess what another
sin all of a sudden the kids don't want
to talk to
you why everybody hates me I don't know
I don't you're acting strange I don't
know what's going on with you I'm acting
you guys are acting strange he thinks
he's the enemy against the
state he takes he's has a grudge against
his kids now guess what another problem
more problems all of a sudden the IRS
shows up all of a sudden The Regulators
all of a sudden the guy at the store
doesn't want to give him f $5 credit
nothing is
working why you're not getting the
point they are all little little little
little little little little little
pieces all tiny little pieces of A's
grandmas plan you turned them into God
that's your
problem if instead you were following
the Tor and you were actually listening
that all of the these people are just
Messengers and that all of the things
that are happening to you are the best
possible action as a result of your
circumstance as a result of Your Action
because you had then instead of it being
a whole journey of G it would have
simply been one mess up and then you
would have done Chua we're back on the
road we're back on the
road
this I believe is one of the most most
valuable lessons that a human being
could ever have because it's critical
it's critical for a
person to have but until now we always
thought have for good things to happen
if you have good things will happen here
we're learning it's actually because of
a lack of that bad things
happen which is a magnitude of
difference difference
here page
75 says
that the
man came down
to
am but in three different
places one was in the camp one was right
outside of the camp and one was far from
the
camp says why what's the three places we
always thought that the the uh
man
came right next door only to
theim only to
theik it went to the people that right
outside of the camp they were a little
less and the one that was really
far now it's important to
know by T
says it doesn't mean drives to sh on
Shabbat why because he drives to sh on
Shabbat they kill
him that kind of R didn't have a long
life maximum Life Plan one day why on
Sunday they'd kill
him you violate Shabbat on purpose
there's no chuva they kill you on the
spot after they warn you and so on death
penalty only time there's CH is if it's
accidental so when the says got their
man outside of the camp they have to go
find it food to
eat it's not talking
about it's also not talking about Idol
worshiper because he too would be dead
penalty who's this rash that had to go
chase the Mana
outside someone who didn't
have why I don't know if we're going to
get food tomorrow I don't you sure mhe M
I don't know maybe we should go back to
Egypt I don't know this SM it's not even
that good I don't know yesterday was
this today it's that I the complainers
they didn't like the pie that they got
instead of doing CH what they do they
complain to
M that's what the says some people they
got a cake beautiful cake other people
got even better they got bread it's even
better was already ready to eat the cake
you still had to make it and some people
got little tiny
seeds little tiny seeds why you
you had questions you had everything go
ahead do everything yourself you don't
have any you want to do everything
yourself here you go do everything
yourself cook yourself
too good yourself too meaning he had to
go walk three miles to go get his M and
what did he get even get the bread he
got some seeds he has to make something
out of it why because you don't have any
confidence
in and after yesterday that you did it
you should have done CH and today you
wouldn't have to do it but guess what
you still didn't do CH because you're
blaming mosu cuz you're blaming your
wife wife cuz you're blaming your kids
cuz you're blaming everybody except
yourself to do
chuva
this is one of the most critical
things that a person needs to know in
their life when there are people that do
you
harm don't waste your time having any
Grudge and taking any Revenge because
they're simply all Messengers don't all
Messengers from
Hashem when there are people that get
hurt and it happens to be somebody that
you had a problem with never
celebrate lest theem turned his wrath on
you from
them most
importantly never judge everybody
harsher than you judge
yourself they make mistakes so do you
how would you like to be
judged if you judge everybody harshly
Hashem is going to judge you
harshly so that means that when somebody
says something
wrong about the tah and we speak against
it we're not speaking against them
personally so Hashem kills them
personally or anything like that but
rather we're trying to cry to we're
trying to warn the public and also get
to that person
hopefully because they're still alive
and there's still a chance for them to
do Chua and contain the damage at the
least that's the goal that's the
purpose never Shalom is it because it's
a personal attack or it's because of
some personal Vendetta or it's a revenge
or it's some type of jealousy or any of
that nonsense that's doesn't PL to this
I I lived that life already that was
Wall Street we're trying to change now
that's the whole point of working
here you see if you're going to take the
Torah and
manipulate in such a way that you're
just going to make the bad character
traits that you have fit in the Torah
it's better off you don't learn anything
at
all it's better off you don't learn to
because at the very least the truth will
stay the truth and lies will stay the
lies but if you're going to go learn to
and if you're going to go learn with me
you have to make sure to always remember
the first person to rebuke is
yourself the first person to change is
yourself the first frustration that
should be expressed is at
yourself the warnings that we give are
not messages of
hatred and animosity at individuals but
rather at desecrations of the tah rather
at messages that potentially put
people's lives at risk and the
such with hopes that again the damage is
contained
and the right people do chuva cuz that's
the whole point sometimes the right
person is
myself sometimes it's the person that's
listening sometimes it's somebody that
we don't even know exist yet but the
point being is that that's what the
Torah is for it's constant introspection
and if a person has a little bit of he
knows that even if embarrassment came to
me
embarrassment came to me on some YouTube
video or some stupid comment on the
Internet or some email or whatever it
was guess what that was just AEM talking
to you through this
person that's it why you taking it so
personally why you crying over it why
you making all big deal out of it you
could either take that message and do
cha as a
result or you could ignore it and be the
cause of your own own suffering
whichever one you feel like same price
actually the second one's a little more
expensive this will give us a little bit
of a better Clarity of not only how
much we should aspire to
have but really how much we
need how much we need it in order to at
least contain the damage that we put
ourselves in and on Tuesday we'll
continue our next series
