experience which is an experience obviously I think it's uh whatever is a place to express and if you're writing songs and you're singing music you're expressing so they have a lot in common then what if you have any musical skills it was a disadvantage they throw you out very nice so now you guys are learning in Israel and do you want someone to give $100 to the shots Bushido camp you guys know yet any soon soon ok so you keep them in mind this doobies right all right so you wrote songs too no you just have an incredible voice and you're able to I just think they credit so that's it trust what I've been doing that for most of my life and it works great but you the you artists also a couple of them yeah song since I was young so I always I remember started in the shower you know just like in your head and then like slowly I picked up an instrument so I enjoy writing I would find that an instrument in the shower especially if it's electric is pray for her dangerous situations that you only have like a slightly over a million people watch you guys but you know my my audience is clearly much more discerning and intelligent and dedicated than anybody who listens to you guys it we just did you like songs one sided single is very into singing yeah singles you don't even know what that means when I was growing up we used to buy a 45 rpm record a song a one set in the song of the other side we used to put them on and I say listen to songs that come with the release her or this was way before beepers don't know papers you know if it was fancy had like a little stack that would let him drop down and you know and then the little arm would go over and did I'll play the play the record and that was as far as a cat you know today it's it's all everything's digital it's a whole different world well though I'm told that there were people who DAF could hold on to a an old record player because they say the sound of a record is better than the digital sound they make modern records now which are like a thing to have yeah I'm not enough of a Bucky of music to tell you this but people tell you that the music that comes off of a record is is a as a deeper sounder than that which is recorded which I find all you believe cuz you can create anything you want to come on grim we're dead that's the story yeah so so so what what did they tell you about music and water besides the fact that obviously they would use music yeah but what did they try to encourage you or they encouraged you to do the music right I only encouraged the sports they have they have sports legs or a carriage tell me they think the sports leagues very seriously you know and yeah the sports and the exercise but we should be healthy mind and body right so they obviously encouraged amusing so what's the what does he tell you about music what is music supposed to be well good question very much right that's why I have this job what is that achilles tell us about music well I guess I before expression imagine that though is that that's definitely that's definitely true I told this story with a bee right bird when I was out in LA so sometimes either invite me of my house from his house for dinner I was I was about he would come home and he'd sit down at the piano honey we just talked to play I didn't recognize any of the tunes and I said to his wife what's he playing and she said his day he could just sit down and turn his day into music the only other time I ever saw that is that I had a counselor when I was in camp who was a classical guitarist and he used to sit down and play these very you know nothing moderns very complicated pieces but you can see he was just losing himself for the music no so-so music obviously has the ability for self-expression but it's gotta be more than that right because so is poetry or art or you know that's definitely a gift also from a sham I don't really know how making songs work specific needs right yeah it's all you you play oh yeah it's interesting it just seems to come to you if at least when you're writing music it's not like you're trying so hard to specifically write a song it kinda is just there if I pick up October and or any of us it's not there's not a sit down and say I'm going to write a song ya know can't happen which by the way there are are people like I'm are you professional like a lot a lot of music that we're listening to now is like there's like a saying like a said said artists writing a happy song or a happy hour in like you cut all like songs that sell now it's like okay we need 10 songs let's write songs that's nice very force right Paul McCarthy once said that there was a group called the Beatles so McCartney one said he says I really thought that we were like this counterculture like you know it just you know not material I think he says me and John would sit down and say let's write a swimming pool let's try the right story that we know is going to be a hit and be commercial and you know so this is this is not the sort of techno music that seems to be so popular today I mean this is what more like the eighth time cats yeah so so song just comes to you how many songs have you written couple 15 20 just in the past week now it means - so you think II think - and you were saying 15 20 so there's right - do those do it so a couple of means like be - 10 and 20 that's yeah I guess so how many of those were produced one one excellent yeah how many hits did you get well I um no not that often it was basically whatever was in a couple more than a couple Wow so so you get something rigid on something that's that that says you know that would bury the essence of what you guys are trying to bring your cross you know in a song [Music] that's sense of what guys are trying to bring the crossers know what you guys are bigger than everybody you can all you can only talk to the people who are here that's always uh you know I I had somebody once who said to me you know goes oh so you're at operative relationship bureau I said I wouldn't say that and Ramesh's certainly wouldn't say that but I was one of the people who said this year for a very long time you know in fact at one time somebody was upset at Reformation they were trying to take it out of me you know and I said to him I said you're angry at the king and you want to kill the Jester you know even a guy you know I'm nobody and till the stir of my shine he said it's really very funny that wasn't exactly what I was looking for but we certainly agreed it reminds me when I was on a panel I remember I shouldn't mention the name although I used to say with his name I'm a more careful but a very famous well-known person in Kirov you know we'd be on a panel and I said you know we agree on one point we disagree on another we both agree that he is a lot of worthwhile things to say we just disagree whether or not I do and I'm okay with that you know because you certain people are just enthralled by the sound of their own voice when I was going to speak at the a good if I had that good of voice I'd be absorbed by my voice when I was going to speak of the a good convention so there's a concept be prepared to read late because people just can't believe that they're speaking if they could at convention and they just can't stop they just so taken with with the experience okay so that's that's this your is your intro where you can play which we do we're so maybe I'll maybe you should leave this long yeah I don't know her very songs well turn it into low degree obviously the whole idea is that there's a music to whatever right that's the idea I learned in a limb fishing you see but we also had we had we couldn't you know write her a coma to me the worst when sitting there playing a guitar and he says it's so beautiful to have an instrument you can just pull it out with a group of people and play and and everyone can be sing along I said yeah he says that's why I love to play the drums but it doesn't really have the same thing unless you're watching bad don't-don't-don't anyway it's like a triangle yeah I put myself a professional tambourine okay that's pretty yeah yeah because it's as long as you're gonna hold the beat it's not too hard to play the tambourine you know there must be a real science to what it is you know but I can play pin Berean and the kazoo but that's about it but to be able to my my son-in-law avi Liberman plays the keyboard you know just fit we sit at the keyboard where it would party time yeah such an unbelievable thing yeah we had a guy when I was in yeshiva 1975 who's learning how to play the trumpet we used to like him in the McLaren see until you learn yeah when I wanted to learn drums I don't remember I went to lessons for a couple months and then by the time I started practicing there was a very big rejection from her my family was very [Music] wise like that my kids end up in waterbury but anyway thank you very much love you anyway no it's a promise is a tough thing to have to practice violin in the 1950s there was a TV show called I Love Lucy Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz yeah anyway so they have a kid little Ricky and they find a drum set and you just see the whole day he's praising throw rum-rum-rum and they get up in the morning and they're walking to the beat amazing thing anyway all
