it doesn't miss Lisette alright we're not sure which is ever dated but I'm sure good friend of the starcade we're here every month the last wednesday of the month we thank you for joining us on this holiday this secular holiday weekend I'm rabbi jewy Goldberg and to my right is rabbi bonfire welcome back round buyer always good to be here no stranger to these programs okay vy2 we do remember very Alisa okay and there's others who are on as well so we are ready to start today we're going to talk about kosher miss leaving mislabeling rather by which does happen sometimes it's really we always look for something that's timely unfortunately mislabeled kosher products is always a timely topic it happens that's very good it always happens it's always something we try to prevent but is something that's out there and you need to know as a consumer what you what you can do to to avoid it let me also mention these classes are archived all our previous classes are at on vimeo so you go to vimeo type in stark a kosher and you come up with our webinar channel the webinar dress is also the vimeo address is also on the emails that go out to to advertise these classes so ever i want to start people sometimes criticized complain that there are too many too many miss labels that they see in the alerts which of course they should be getting those alerts right i always recommend people sign up for the star k alerts without you alerts and get them wherever you can you have to be aware of it you try to try to be the on top of them to some extent but people say that you know why are there so many seemingly though I and they do come up from time you know they did not that I'm coming no there by the same token if you looking at the half class folders relative to how many products are actually go out there right it's hardly any right so you're you're defending our absolute last our profession you're talking about hundreds of thousands of kosher products and the percentage of Miss labels is very very very much especially as mad as I take care of my any right of course I don't remember any in 15 years I'm a baby one right you were yours only left right so I just did some research of historically what was I mean what was and what is now so in 1934 in Germany the rabbi's they're worn than that they were beginning being given non kosher meat that have been made to look kosher it was packaged in the way they were kosher and they advised the community that they might need to forego meet for the time being because there was no way to really protect more 1934 stay here after the he's camped at our right what's a sudden Nazi no I don't think so just what was going on in Germany at that time and then in America you go back go back 100 years and this article I picked up says fraud and corruption plagued kosher meat production in the United States for the mid 1800s to the mid nineteen hundred the New York City Department of markets estimated in 1925 that forty percent of the meat sold as kosher in the city was actually non-kosher maybe forty percent yellow that's the famous you know the buzzer buzzer buzzer right right where was nothing industry was notorious for price-fixing schemes racketeering and even murder for hire and this is one last day done what oh well hundred years ago more god forbid the six full-time culture inspectors in New York City Department of markets and the 10 in the New York State coach enforcement Bureau by the late 1930s were insufficient to oversee the 18,000 kosher food establishments in New York City Wow reform finally came to the American kosher food industry with the rise of a new regulatory institution to private kosher certification agency the Acosta's agencies as we know them today so you know go back 100 years and you can have very very little confidence that you're walking in to a place that claims to be kosher that actually is that actually you know was kosher and and you think about the just the mechanics of it the technology is so much improved nowadays I read the story once about it's in that five volume series about you shall I'm you know that there was anyway this is a five-volume series about my story yes stories of you shall I'm that happened many years ago and there was there was a collector from your show line who came to know the moshulu came from Jerusalem to Europe to collect on behalf of his brethren and there was leather sent ahead of his arrival and so on but an imposter showed up a week or two before saying that he's the collector from Jerusalem and they treated him with great honor respect and that would never have to involve it could know why Brian couldn't have my balls no because we have the wii u need to get certified you have to come to the i'll go that you get a letter you take your picture taken with your hyna which you're up where we check your passport head of the star k we check your passport we check your out here your details and and and so then when the real collector showed up when we were later it'll little collectors anybody here right so when the real collector showed up it was a big total sum what happened who's the true collector so they figured out in the end but nowadays with all technology with all the interconnectivity if something is being advertised kosher somewhere in the world someone's going to find it i'm not going to find out we're going to find out about it you can look it up you have your cell phone the other connection and many times were notified by consumers may be another by consumers right and and you can give you if you see a new product you can check it out so the this system is is much improved than what it was is it a hundred percent i think that it will be a hundred percent when the ship comes i can i'm pretty sure that by then at the seuda love yas and be a special meal that's going to be served when the chef comes and that meal will be a hundred percent till then the understory same division well we'll definitely push for that rubber boy there is nothing one of my colleagues mentioned to me that we're talking about this topic before Hanukkah we should mention that the bigness of Hanukkah was the big miracle was that they found the little pot chemin the jug of oil with the seal of the coin goggle and the bigness was and everybody accepted it I lied on it and it was proper so you know with that said we should we should oh you know going with our eyes open that we know that there are the issues that we have to be aware but realize that it's much improved and the system is the system is not just the works for the mostest can work somos right exactly Oh now let's go to I see people chatting and let's take the chats in a second let me just open for you on your screen the first thing we want to start with which is the other oils that come from Israel this is put out by Chief Rabbinate of Israel hold on a second a hard to read that it is hard to read it why is it so hard to read hold on a second okay it's supposed to be like one on every page but i guess not let me do this let me move the chat close wait do some housekeeping over here if you'll bear with us for a second I'm gonna sing or something let me make this bigger the internet is okay let me make this a little bit bigger okay I mean this is what is ok you can see these these these are olive oils that are fraudulent that's in other words fortunately certified the symbols on them they were chief rabbinate says are all not not not not true and honest now these are not all from this year it's not like they found these all in one year what are the issues with olive oil that I problematic well in Israel if you buy olive oil from Israel you even for use in your Hanukkah menorah you'd need to know that it's not from shemitah right it's not from this pattukal year which you wouldn't be allowed to burn through the Hanukkah menorah if you're going to eat it you need to know that it's also shmita is an issue to be aware of the truman some ice is the tithing if you're going to eat it as always an issue every year so olive oil from from israel needs to be certified you're buying it in america and using it if you buy you to the madam out from a source outside of Israel then you can use it for your Hanukkah menorah you would still need a certification if you wanted to eat it but so this is it's pretty disconcerting we're going from page to page over here to collected over a number of years by the rabbinate in Israel which does a pretty good job I make them bigger and literally I could I could if your exact wit I could because is a there is a there we go okay why does your mind imagining it let me get it to one hundred percent oh there we talk it that's much much easier recognized okay so you see it here it says is Z of Robin Hood rifle or you can see it's as if means it's a fraud and is there something obvious about the label that you know it's very difficult to tell it's very difficult to tell from these that they're fortunate they look they look they look real they do look real the chief rabbinate raids warehouses in Israel to find really to find these kind of frauds yes they do and these are found over a number of years they made them they raid if they find if they suspect a conscious violation their grade ya like like a nice they come in there Gavin on the back there right all right okay Wow coming right I'm impressed yeah they can do that they have the right to do that if they suspect fraud they bring the police in I don't think it says as you know it's not like dramatic like that but they bring the police and they're going and they they confiscated Chuck's the stuff so how would a person no it's a good question with this olive oil situation it's hard because it's hard for us to read the labels at all because they're not every American is adapted reading the Israeli labels but in general there is I was something i want to bring out that is if you see something new or different you know a symbol on a product that you haven't seen before and it's a sensitive item you may want to question it but other crimes right you might want to you know it depends where are you buying it are you buying it in the store that's reputable that that that itself is is you know another level of rank of comfort because they wouldn't be buying from underhanded sources of so you know that's one level you what what what is the product is it water or is it in our cheese product which is very very sensitive so you know you have to try to get a good idea to get it at a habit of looking at ingredients or maybe mommy familiar will write which ingredients are could be a problem mm-hmm and which aren't okay let's take let's take a let's take some of these questions that we have how does the public expect any cash or organization to know when the company puts out a new product without being told by the company okay you who dis asking how how would we know that a company is putting you using our symbol fraudulently okay you can you can deal with every bar well the way we set up our certifications is with the intent to make sure that we stay on top as much as possible of new products that come out all of our much occasion all the rabbi's that visit our companies are trained to look for new products they they make sure to to look at any new labels that might have come out since the last time they've been there and okay but you're talking about I call me that's already certified what if a company that's not certified puts out a new product that I mean how would you know I mean you mentioned before that consumers consumers I find out my find out right I mean I mean the company there is a certain amount of called fear but it's there are repercussions for companies will discuss in two minutes a repercussion for a company that's putting out a fraudulently fraudulent label it could be very severe does it always stop every company fresh i know and i think it's also important to mention just like you're saying if we're talking about a company from a western country a company that's here in the United States or Canada something like that where there's a there's a general attitude of you know either the sphere or keeping the law or respect to the wall so then it's more likely you're not going to find a problematic product right they can really get in trouble if you really if you're talking about a product that's coming from overseas especially from the Far East so then that should give you pause if it's something new and you don't know what the story is and you've got surprised to see it Zeb says the problem you're up today is that there's no legal protection for kosher civil fraud okay that's in that is an issue and as we'll discuss in the United States there are some states that have stronger legal protection than others we'll talk about that in a little bit okay I don't know get an answer this question okay well throughout the discussion that's something we have to keep in mind this question about what we can do David mentions about mayor Stan either okay you can read that that's an important piece of information how do we know when the label genuine origin okay that's that's we're going to try to help you understand that okay the rubber look does a great job but they are understaffed did not have enough authority probably true as well okay so Paul says in your experience the most miss labels a mistake or deliberate most of them are mistake is things mostly their mistakes and not they're not they're not so deliberate because we're discussing that they can be fined heavily or shut down or first test a naive they just don't realize right so mostly mostly it is mostly mistakes okay let's go to our next slide here early buyer this is also from the chief rabbinate and this is an interesting one over here over here you can see this is one so it says here loca share with the habit of the orange box around it says local share because wine that's sold an Israel that is not kosher it's supposed to say it's not kosher okay but then what they did was they put on the left box they put the issue of the rubble natera they put a hex you're on it but even if it says MIKESCHAIR none of this was on purpose well this was my mistake it it really is not caution and therefore they shouldn't say a hechsher over here and then the the kicker over here is that you see the sticker that says that you have to pay a retainer fee you know you forget what they called a deposit for the bottle they put it right over the words that said Lord kosher then of course was a mistake that is what in the writing on top is what the Robin are they saying matching time dash so that is not that was definitely done on purpose and therefore now it looks like it is certified okay so a person you know you pick up this bottle and you see it has a shelter up the hood you know if that's something that you do you want to rely on let's say but why is this other sticker over here what is what's underneath the sticker so a little bit of FBI work you know would go a long way for you in that case okay let's take another example this is actually a this was a stark a issue now some of these we're not trying to defame many organizations this happens to to everybody every organization the large organizations are more commonly hit with issues because they have more products but so this is actually this is soy ana mommy okay it's sold in Israel and it sends over here culture the place of powerful according to the madad speaker safe okay that's all fine and good but then it has a stark a underneath so they're starting right the problem is that soy is kidney OHS and it could not be kosher for pesach on the starcade it could be coaching areas under our star s label okay and that would be perfectly fine this product was made in the start k company but the wrong symbol was punany should have been a star s so you know is there way to catch this it was inadvertent that's I think a smart consumer way if they would know that I mommy is soy and a person has to has to learn these things when we caught it it was immediately recalled and it was sent out alerts and so on and this is something that by reading the label and comparing it to the symbol prison should be able to figure out also if they can read Hebrew then it says coachella pacer and it's only above the bed you're safe symbol and it's not near the stock a symbol that's not a full answer we would not accept that because it does say kershel pacer but a person might question yossi is asking i see over here shouldn't all labels a company use be pre-approved once the release idea the answer is yes they should be but like anything else in life it is there's things that talking don't try it part of the hundreds of thousands of labels and things are going to slip through the cracks the oh you says it explicitly they have an oud symbol for their dairy right and they do tell consumers explicitly on their website that it has not been possible with a hundreds of thousands of products that are certified to always ensure that the D symbol appears by every proper oh you product and therefore consumers should be take care and look at look at the ingredients if it's something that you think might be dairy like you know yogurt or ice cream or chocolate covered pretzels you know if it doesn't have the D symbol reading greens look at the algae statements to make sure that really is part so you know we do our best but which we would try to encourage you to also be aware as well Paul is saying even the product of the extra I think it's good to point out that the consumer has to read the label of something they don't recognize to see if it makes sense exactly what we're trying to say over here right okay let's go to the next one of course you remember when I was a teenager at least yeah I'm not gonna remember mention the school and I was in but there was a product that everyone really involved and it was not normally kosher mm-hmm and one day it came in with a half shirt and it was a big celebration and then some guy was coming as no it's a mistake or like don't tell anyone if you know one say was we know what it was no I won't push your own joy ok this is this isn't ed it was in the public domain so I'm permitted to show this to you this is a company that advertising over there you can see within my resize go over like this I'll be able to show you down the starcade there is a stark a down here somewhere and those right there it is ok there you go ok it says on the strict cartridge supervision that may be so but it wasn't on the starcade well tell us your company other this is nobody's company see one of the reasons I'm involved with this rubber bars it when when there is an issue and in the office that let's say particular rabbi is dealing with that company so we give it to that Rabbi to handle that that recall or whatever needs to be done if there isn't anybody attached to it usually goes acrylic to the man right because you're the meanest guy here exactly so you can deal with these guys exactly your honor they give it to the toughest guy in the occasion so so this is just completely wrong now how would consumer know that that's the case how the consumer know that deep within them then the answer is don't go by the edge to rely on the air to make this ocean is it listen listen the ad in the paper this was an ad in the paper and if you go to any any tanker was this flawless this was in Washington DC if you go to if you go to any catered affair you can look for the star K not a sign they're signed by the mush gear that tells you it's dennery it's me it's it's Yasha whatever the details are of the other event you should not rely on on am for this kind of product and also this is true not only further for a restaurant but also on the website if you go to a website you see the advertiser certain certification no you start chaos okay whatever it is you don't want to necessarily you know take their word for it depending what the product is depending if you're familiar with it when you get it check check the check the label and see and see what it is I think it's especially important also to point out by restaurants them many times their certification might have expired and you didn't know about it right you were there six months ago in that you're okay coming again and then you know so it's good idea to look for the one mini certification agencies will have they have a to double check it right up and see if it I usually what i usually will look for it and but i can tell you that by the response of the workers there you know where the old people usually that will do that not the only but there are people that are many people did not many people but it is a good make sure that it's still currently certified okay before we go further let's take a look at some of these some of these comments my question was more to the public how can we blame the caches agencies for the company mislabeling okay fair enough okay we try to do our part and the consumers do their part by reporting things to us and we're very grateful to them for that some importance type stickers that they think consumers were one okay it was on all these are saying that they put stickers on according to what they think they the consumers would be looking for you know sometimes they they just put the symbol on according to what they think tin customers yeah absolutely did mck says that that soy product says well hope like kicking up correct so if you read Hebrew then you would be and you read the label you would be more aware of it is their system approval that definitely is a system now do people who do restaurants check the salt to see if no mono and diglycerides that's not an issue anymore salt is not where you'd find the diglycerides in you could have it in it certainly in restaurant products you can find it but not another the salt okay let's move on in our presentation here to moving right along we have here okay this again this can happen to any agency these are just ones it or something that that it keeps popping up at Starrcade okay no this one's not still waiting to see something else okay this one is no daddy it's spread the wealth around it okay so stupid right so you can see here in one case a bit of deal you you can see here that the spices ham soup base and has a kosher certification that right away it would start to you know right and if you if you dig down to the to the ingredient panel but could be a ham flavor it's like well we have come we did all right there are hilarious however if you would read the ingredient panel here there's no ham huh yeah it's a dehydrated hand right dehydrated him right there well that would probably lead you to think that there might be a problem right did then the person should say what's going on and that's how it was Claude I don't know what happened this company I don't know it because it's not our situation but that's something that should raise a red flag you know just pick it off the shelf and put it into your car then go ahead and use it let's close dad and i tell my wife whenever she gets the ham soup base so she should make sure there's no be dehydrated and well I've got to make sure that it's only invitation that's why we're very careful with the lady that we could say innovation hold on one second and here's another one this one is not as obvious because it says beef soup base okay but up but a consumer could also know that this rubber bar because it says it says leaves to write and but the hint over here would be the nexus symbol doesn't say Glatt Kosher does they need it doesn't say meat right typically oh you would say me hmm right so you get used to it and then okay then you read maybe it's just imitation okay but it would say imitation so I'm gonna get to some of those new to closure maybe just started to keep kosher it would be difficult right it does get over here that's the fat so hmm it is a bit hard to catch this isn't this is a company I'm not seen before on the shelves what's going on okay so um just just a rule of thumb be very wary when it comes to me problems in general okay here's one I know you want Starrcade items revered by so I have them ready for sharp here so shouldn't that one who had at USDA media approved it might have it on the back okay here's one okay cheese kebab through the star D which is our symbol for none of you saw okay so you did where this was you're in a hotel you're going to help them they're a high it somewhere and you're in some non-kosher affair you're in it you're gonna fair that doesn't live I am sorry you're walking in the hotel I don't know why you invited you your relative your boss is making I don't know why you're there and take this picture no I did not he was sent to us by an alert consumer and it says cheese kebabs which sounds very good in the house there I started these symbol share a non culture event this is not kosher event and it had cheese kabobs over under us it has cheese kebab that have a sign that uses star D dairy and so considerate of them to write I mean it so cheesy it is a little hard to imagine that the person could be at an event that is completely non kosher no it doesn't know what the caterer is he didn't look into it any and he comes across these Oh cheap the cheese kebab zarko shot him everything else the him and me and nuckie started look at this it's hard to believe a person camellia man buxton Idaho right have kosher cheese kebabs yeah right so what happened over here so we contacted the hotel this is our symbol and it's our registered symbol and we we said what's going on you have to remove this right away and they said what happened and it makes sense that their staff was looking for just a dairy symbol and they came across this symbol that says dairy and has a star and has a D and they thought I said generic symbol for dairy really I could believe because it's hard to believe that they would want it on purpose present the cheese kebab is kosher when nothing else is presented kosher what goes like tomorrow I mean what's why can't they just right the way it dary ok but what good would they get out of it by putting this it doesn't make any sense lately that one guy it'll come by and think that the cheese kebab the kosher right and why didn't they do it for all the other items I mean it's a strange story for sure but simply executive the judgmental but it does show kosher which cheese kebab so then they put it on it ok we're so it could be both the point is to be aware to be true your surroundings and you're not if you know this is not there's not a certified event why would the cheese kebabs be kosher right this this over here ok this is something called rainbow dust it's from England and they used are stark a symbol I have to admit rebar one is a stumper meaning the way drugs it would be very difficult it's for cakes and stuff it would be very difficult to to for a consumer to see that this is not legitimate because hey it's not a very sensitive product you look at the ingredients it's just some food colors and there is nothing that jumps out at you over here that is that it is not certif it has this thing can't figure it out um I don't remember it goes back a few years across my desk don't remember how we have we found out but we did and they you know they it actually there is no capita mean if you would have used it there wouldn't be a carousel a Cassius issue really because it's innocuous and a similar situation I don't be a picture for it but I can describe it similar to this rainbow dust business this is something else which is also at a powder that's reminded me of so we have a company that we certify that makes this this kind of candy powder the goods eat like sour power than anything and and they sell to various you know customers and there's another company that took that's above buys it from them and then they remarked it if they resell it with our symbol and then they take our symbol and put it on there right now let's close your product but the only problem is no one's there overlooking their packaging right you know of this item so it's all things so it's an unauthorized simple and they have to stop it right and they have to stop in and that's a really hard thing to to catch right okay so i think a let's take a break from this slide show for a second right let's go through one of the steps we take when we are presented with a with an unauthorized label someone lets us know what we find on their own filming that seems i'm also authorized so i put down the different steps now step number one is is it really unauthorized we are a very large canara cassius agency we certify many many many tens of thousands of products there is nobody in the office who knows all the one knows all the products there's only one in one in this whole agency that knows everything that is the computer only the computer knows everything that we certify because it's impossible for any one person to know so you have to look in the computer and the computer that they're different ways to search right user by brand you will search by company and so there's some leg work that goes into that okay we didn't find it at the first you know the first look but let's dig a little deeper maybe it really is a certified product and that happens a fair fair amount of the time is that someone says what is this we don't recognize it no but you know it is actually a legitimate symbol sometimes this product may not have had an agreement with us but it's made in the facility that it's dark a certified and that's called a private label so for instance if you have a shop right or a Walmart or Target they may produce a producing companies that sometimes are certified and that product might inadvertently get a symbol on it and and so the product is really kosher it is a technical issue they've have to be worked out of how that happened and we want to prevent them and so on but didn't know there's the food actually is kosher certified by the agency we look at what is the product again I mentioned before is the cheese is a water are they seeds all that goes into what the next level is things that that are unless you're so sensitive right and that's that's that's a very important factor in you know what what steps we need to take we need to know if the company is cooperative or uncooperative that's very important what did they say when we contact them you know are they cooperative and they will recall everything and they go out and they they remove everything from the shelves and they mark it over and they they take the proper steps which happens very often that they are cooperate because it was a mistake or are they uncooperative and they not interested in talking to us that's how many volumes they that's what you're right miss when you get right if they're not cooperative then we get the lawyers involved we have Lloyd as we will a team I think right we will we will take it will take it to court very often we can be effective if it's in New York by going to the New York State Department of kosher enforcement which is now subsumed under their regular consumer fraud department and the rabbi who runs that rob a massacre actually was here he came and spoke to our summer course a couple years ago and and he said you know he showed us his badge he has a neat huh he has a badge and when he shows up at the door you know with his bad jump from New York State Department of enforcement he has a right to find the companies if they do not do not comply and you know the new york state is the repository of most of the kosher products and therefore it can be very effective to have him get help from him or such other agencies in other department other states as well and then depending on with responses we see how to how to go go ahead let's take some more of our questions over here Zeb says if I have to double check every printed certification certification becomes almost worse offense that's true you do not have to we asked her behind me once and he said the person can rely on the fact that the vast majority of symbols are are legitimate okay personally as a logic right to rely on that it had the vast majority of symbol legitimate and he does not have to go through any of this process however there's there's hundreds or hundreds of some symbols rudd say you should so therefore you should familiarize yourself should we notice there so main ones and one thing you're not familiar with it yes then I'm saying but even if he's familiar with the symbol has he knows will jus de Mille on that product so that's a logically a person does not need to go through this this process but people have like to go sometimes beyond the letter of the law don't want to find out that they ate something that was not properly certified even if they will not be held accountable for it people would like to avoid that and therefore it behooves a person to become more more familiar with it fruit and vegetables in DC area do I need to look regarding results from a new product come out with us on the label but the LLC there's a lot of certification on their website this old this is not unique to starcade often the stark alc on the website does not have the product on the LLC because it obviously has not been updated in six months okay the LLC is a lot of certification every product one of our listeners the the LLC is a letter of certification which every product that is kosher certified in the world has a kosher letter behind it and that's how we track which items are our culture and he's saying that sometimes they are not up to date as they should be which guess could be but we we do try to get them get them up there for you you can look the way you would find those letters you go to our website if you want to see if your product is actually certified let's say you do have a question let's say consumer has a question this is unusual this symbol looks funny it's not the right size not the right color it's it's in some strange language how do i check it out you can call us or call the agency that that is supposedly certifying it or you can look on our website or their website their website our website star dash quedo RG you go to the click down to the the letters of certification page and then every company will have less almost every company and it has a lot of certification some of them don't want to put it up there for privacy reasons but no they're up there and you can see if the product is on that on that letter okay david says the ham is buckle position maybe it is nullified in 60 and therefore really is a kosher product yeah that's a good thing that turned up yeah right i mean after you've already was smiling indicates that he is joking okay right okay does that's our typical answer to people who call them really the stockade give much goes on a meat department a supermarket without certifying the whole store yes we do that so that we do that yes in seven mile market we certify the meat and dairy departments we did not certify the whole store and we do what people know that that is the case we only do that with them with full time munch keygen correct at the site right right they have bacon bits that this part yes we certified also bacon bits flavored it's a bacon flavor that is power of beykoz have the owe you forever the poll says if it's too good to be true it probably is correct ah they have non-dairy creamers in a Dairy how could they approve that okay non-dairy creamers anybody you can deal with that now they're creamers is a legal phrase right right by the corners of the government they don't have to say that it's dairy but it does contain dairy in VK have sodium caseinate a.m. and therefore has a dairy kosher symbol the reason that they right now non-dairy on it is i think is for the benefit of the dairy industry that that right because there is actually no milk in it the dairy industry want it doesn't want them to be able to claim that it's a real creamer right it's not real creamer but if you look on the label you will usually see a dairy symbol there are there are those that are all creepers right there are some that are part one of those was holding call me rich i believe this is actually mmm the regular coffee which i think is actually part okay let's keep keep going down the more chemicals in it them more likely it is that it's connor even it says the regal spot i think i missed a few from my clicking over here but ok the Regal spice issue was dealt with no you alert on 224 2015 correct it wasn't alert on it ok I think they're just too many really has nothing to do with kosher it's just that's their symbol it's the KFOR Killick khanoom that they put into a star and it's not a kosher symbol at all somebody could possibly be confused by it but again this is where knowing how kosher wine is sold would come in handy I believe that there was a resolution of this we could not get them to take it off legally because it's it's it's not exactly the same stars hours it's six points instead of five times and it's not claiming to be kosher and I think that what our legal department could not find a way to force them to stop using it but you would look at the back label it's not in the right place for a kosher symbol usually a kosher symbol would be near the ingredients and it would say either Michelle it is cooked wine or not an official it would be some hidden riding usually would say it's kosher for pesach and anybody who has been looking at kosher wines would see right away that this is not a something is strange about this this wine I don't think it's all the United States either and so becoming familiar will help you discern this type of issue go to the next one here are milk chocolate covered raisins again it has a kosher symbol but it doesn't have the dairy symbol on this was court had a this is a product for a company it's not something you will find on the Shelf in the supermarket and the Macheath caught this you know he's really milk chocolate covered raisins and he's not seeing a dairy symbol and it was it just is one of those things that constantly have to be vigilant and the agency tries to be vigilant and mesquite enough to be vigilant so you know it's pretty big giveaway we see milk chocolate and you read the ingredients and says Metis wanna bring up another point and if you look at this label this looks like the kind of a label that a company will print themselves right many many levels that they print out and they'll put the symbol on there as required either the dairy similar whatever the case may be but that's where you run into problems more than you do with pre-printed pre-printed retail label true once pre-printed that it's easier to check it once it is really a money actually because the company is not going to spend thousands of dollars which they do one on film right and mess up the symbol and then they have to recall it and then I throw all those ball and stuff right so they take a lot more care and which is also important that we tell all of our much usable visited companies that they should check the computer Roger to get through the rug to make sure that the labels are are being done correctly I was at a company reviewing last week and that's one of the first things I wanted to do was check double-check be the computer printed images to make sure that they are in the computer correctly okay let's go to some of these some of the chats rub my buyer because I'm just going to make them a little bigger so I can get to him okay see if we can deal with some of these what does LLC referred to LLC is a letter to certification it's the letter that every product that is kosher has is uh is has a letter behind it saying that it's kosher shoprite has a book that it lists all they're kosher products and las gafas even assess whether private ash gospel or an organization okay that's true shopper i does have such a book they have to be a little careful with that because some of their products have just decay on it and it's difficult to tell from that which agency really great details also has something offenders has it right trader joe's is actually and these companies are very smart they don't have they don't produce anything on the realm and and and they just many times they'll go to places they produced kosher in the very kosher savvy right and for a fraction of the cost of course them to produce it and get a kosher certification they sort of tag along on the other certification that's why i go to trader joe's there's all different different kinds different kinds of certifications because that's what they're doing it could also be very helpful to correct brothels printed on the product Zeb says well besides for the Jewish companies 100 companies are not that interested in having Hebrew words on their on their on their labels like cheerios does not want to put the word mazama sonnet there there you know it's sometimes it's enough that they have the coaches symbol on it that sometimes aren't agonizes if you go to Europe you won't find any coaches symbols right was because of that reason they're free to antagonize I'll plan intended by count your blessings right alright so the fact that most in that ocean companies would not be willing to put the correct brought on it uh usually answers that okay you that's what you the says thank you she companies do that but not huge companies don't do that another problem is when restaurants put on the window a letter certifying a product but give the impression to the quick observe the discourse around ok we know if you have an example that don't you well I had I usually tell example i was in once in israel and today in the area that i am I wanted we were looking for a place to eat and we came across a store that had a reliable sin one of these lenders with her a reliable simple I think it was the bad odds and I went over to read the letter and it looks you know like a legitimate letter but then I realized I wasn't really the leather is only on the cheese meaning that they are claiming that the cheese that they use is purchased from NIDA badass but actually there's another letter in the store that had the actual certification which was not as good as the one that they put out from so yes the person has to has to be aware of that as well and okay okay it's also an Australian company that you were just talking about that company with key with it with the K on top there was an Australian company ok could a webinar be found on your website
