held uh in our star k uh offices in baltimore maryland i'm your host rabbi swee goldberg and on your screen in a different room it's trapped by barack baier our guest today um so rabbi barry we've been doing this for many years these virtually and the whole world seemed to have caught on uh i don't know if we ever did it that's true we didn't do it with cameras yeah sitting next to each other but that's uh that's that's very 2019. um usually these classes held the last wednesday of the month feels like the way i last wednesday of the month it was uh yeah right it's the first wednesday of the month right it's the first wednesday but uh sometimes we have to uh to adjust um uh usually when we have these uh discussions we talk about flying airplanes how we go people going there to stroll people going across the country across the world but i think we can just dispense of that uh yeah part i don't think anybody is really or i mean i'm sure there are people but most people are not thinking of flying for vacation they're going to be driving uh there are a lot of people going to hotels or airbnb or renting cabins and things like that and we want to discuss those those uh questions we can take we can take your chats if you look on the bottom right of your screen you will see a chat pod there you can chat your uh your questions there and we'll try to get to it we like to take questions let me just uh start with the sound check uh can anybody hear me if even i have one person answering i know that you can hear so if you can just type that you can hear and see us muslim on the upcoming marriage of my son uh one rabbit dover we want to wish uh ourselves and the cats is hardy mazeltov and we hope that everybody will be able to have synchros and enjoying healthy and safely uh hashem in the future um so let me make this a little bigger so we can uh is that wants to know if it's an indoor large wedding okay well indoor yes wedding yes large no but uh there is a place that's allowing to do uh indoor weddings and that's what i think most people at least around here are doing uh there's a limited amount of people can come but uh hashem whatever it is we're just we're happy to be able to do that um so we can take your your chats as you see we can also take live questions so if you'd like to to be seen by uh everybody else uh if you if you either chat that you really to do with travel so much but referring to the uh vls calendar dipping your your utensils in the in the mikvah which was a problem uh before pesach and after pastor because the the mikvahs were closed for by the uh mostly so what did what were they uh advising they were advising roblon were advising to uh either not acquire your utensil buy it but have in mind not to acquire it if you already acquired it uh be masculine give up your ownership in front of three people or give it to a non-jew and so on all these would be the evidence second best it's not it wasn't the best way to do it but under the circumstances the best we could do but now that um now that most of the mixvis i think would probably be open or you know or the lakes are open in the oceans and you can find a place to be towel uh you should remember what what utensils you had that you didn't uh that you didn't dip and i'm what i'm afraid of is people you know they did that for for a whole bunch of things especially people who didn't make pesos before and they bought a whole bunch of things before pesach and now next year they then they put it away and next year they come they don't remember what they told what did they told well didn't they toggle so you know a person should make sure to go and take care of that before it gets real the lack of kenyan does it not carry over once they start using it then they can unit then it's automatically you know oh no they no but it does yes if you leave it like that in that state then forever you don't need to toggle it but it's only the second best it's a bitty heaven so you should you should have in mind to acquire it go down to your basement pick up your your uh pots and pans that you set aside have in mind to acquire and then take it to the mig family covalent with a broker yeah zeb says be careful with the lake i'm not saying every lake you could do it there's a lot of laws uh details that go into that uh that's for another discussion but you need to take it to a proper kosher mikvah uh in order to be told it and now is the time to do it so you don't want to forget and since our job is to make sure people don't forget things that have to do with cultures that's why we're mentioning that right um all right um so let's start with hotels um so you go to a hotel and there's a breakfast right there's a breakfast there comes complimentary or you know something that's there i see it i see though on a lot of hotel websites i've been looking at they're saying that the the breakfast is modified it's not what you would have expected pre-code probably because they only probably have packaged products i imagine right so then maybe they're not cooking things right maybe they're not right they're not handing it out in the same way it's it's something is different um so that really you know would take care of some of the issues which is if they cook the food like the eggs let's say you wouldn't be allowed to eat that because of bishop so that's that's a um you know that's a that's an issue that you may not have helped they're not offering you um we got we did get a question about one thing that they that they used to have at least in waffles and you you make the waffle yourself you take the mix and uh you mix it up and you put it into a waffle maker that's there and and and sometimes it comes with a the waffle comes it's like a set okay you have the waffle mix right and then you have come together the same company gives them the waffle maker so the waffle mix has a certification on it let's say a crc or o.u whatever it is so people sort of assume that that goes together with the waffle maker and they can make it in the waffle maker but that's not necessarily so right rubber bar uh yes that's correct oh my god why is that cool because we're just making sure i'm listening would you say waffles um well because because uh obviously the waffle maker is uh could have could have been used for non-kosher waffles at one point um they could have been washed with non-kosher uh other non-kosher equipment in the back there um they could have used it for who knows what so yeah in any cooking situation like that you could not use a non-kosher you know non-certified uh waffle maker pancake maker grill whatever right exactly and the question that that that was actually asked the email that came in was the person realized that this is a problem but sometimes they go with groups and the group doesn't realize it's a problem the question was should they say something or not yes what yes well yeah yes and no it depends on whenever i get these questions should i say something to my neighbor that they're doing something that's not right it all depends on your relationship with them and what you know whether they're going to listen to you that's that's a different you can't give a yes or no answer to that should you say something depends what every case is individual you know it depends who the people are or whether there's suppression you wouldn't speak up that's really out of character for you and i wouldn't speak up yeah you know you'd flash your your you know starkey uh [Music] right eileen is asking what about hard-boiled eggs hard-boiled eggs are also what would be a problem bishop so you could not have the hard-boiled eggs uh that they served well that's actually an interesting question i was going to say you can only have the cereal but a lot of times they the cereal is not necessarily like in those little boxes sometimes they'll just dump it into like a dispenser right you don't really know what cereal is so we have said in the past and you can correct me if you don't like what i'm saying but right that it's a simple cereal like a plain rice krispies or a plain cornflakes or plain cheerios type cereal that it would be okay right we have said that i mean what i would say is that they should ask to see the box of cereal that it comes and they can see what cereal it is but all this is probably probably not applicable nowadays i mean you go to hotel you think that they're serving and you know individual you know from from a big container of cereal probably not you're probably not going to get that you're probably what because usually those are like you know you twist it and the cereal falls out so that could be i don't know i can't believe they're doing that anymore so they pro if anything they would be giving your little boxes little boxes which would be better for cartridges right gary is asking can the waffle make it be cautious by turning it on and pouring hot water on the food contact surface uh no it would need what we call uh libon libon and it won't withstand that and so therefore you can't capture it because the hotel would go for it either [Laughter] that's that's true yeah i guess you yeah that's that's an issue um okay so what about um are we still uh we're still at breakfast or do we move on to lunch are you with every whatever i'm gonna say it's going around my mind i'm just going through the through the line there of what's available usually we're at these uh hotel breakfasts so there's usually juice of some sort like there might be like a machine that will dispense juices and then there's a of course there's going to be coffee and there's going to be sometimes there'll be packets of oatmeal with hot water at that level okay these things these things would be okay if you know if you know if you can see the extra or it's you know the oatmeal probably comes a little packet probably hard to have on it right hot water should be okay to use um it should be fine coffee we generally say should be okay right right plain coffee non-flavored you should be fine right um david is saying there are hard-boiled eggs that motels get with an oil certification look in the kitchen right that's true and they're also available for purchase at some supermarkets yes on the on the uh those are generally peeled those are peeled right right do they put out peeled eggs plastic package that's something else but i don't think they generally put out peeled heart i mean i don't know maybe they do like in a bucket they put a bucket full of hard hard-boiled peeled eggs never seen that before well he's saying that they come like that they come yeah certification they're really hard well i've seen it on the on the turnpike or on the conv i bought it once actually right i've seen it at the rest stops that they have them uh you know they come with with a certification that's that's that's the convenient thing to get uh by the way just uh since you know we don't necessarily have to stick to a topic that's not a sheer right people for our new listeners this is not a it's not a a share it's a free-wheeling uh blocking discussion open mics open mic right more like a talk show than a share um just talking about about the uh about the convenience stores i'll tell you something a little tidbit that's interesting uh i had a masjid who went into a visit in a candy company that we certify and um and you know because we're still doing visits we have to visit right we need to visit to the the the uh the companies to make sure it's kosher and then we go in with the masks the gloves with the everything you know take the temperature everything all the precautions anyway so uh so when he came back i was asking him about it and i said you know i wonder how they're doing their business is doing because i would think that people eating a lot of candy right probably they're home you know munching away the kids at home everybody's eating candy i would think that they're doing very well and he said actually they're not doing so well i said why not is that because a lot of their business for this these candy companies is in gas stations and convenience stores that they sell they they sell the products and they're sold there people are trying and people aren't going and if they are driving and stopping for gas but not going in to the convenience store and that's affecting this company's business a lot and it's amazing how you don't realize how how you know things are topsy-turvy okay um let's see uh what what other questions here uh bagels you can check if bagels have mushroom that's correct right under normal circumstances you could ask them to see the the uh the bagel bag what about using their real bows and real bowls and spoons for cold kosher cereal that is okay tamar is asking using the real bowls and spoons it's all cold it's okay on a temporary basis you would be allowed to do that can you use the hotel's toast uh alan is asking no answer is no um okay so eli is asking can i use a stove top burner on a tray foam top burner okay so when you're looking you're upstairs you're in the hotel you're in the your rented house and you want to use the the uh the burner that's not kosher so there's an easy way to make it kosher you just basically let's say it's a gas and a burner you turn it on for you know just to uh for a little bit to make it hot you can make it i mean they're great assuming it's clean assuming it's clean right you turn it on right so it turns around and that will casher it uh but yeah so yeah it's like a few minutes on high few minutes right we have it's it's in in a hotel room or in uh in a in a rented house um we have an article in our peso guide about how the cashier of the helicopter the stove top stovetop and so on the microwave all these things would be the same all year round so if you want to go to our website and you can look at that article and it's basically the same the refrigerator does not need koshering because just need to be clean and at least when i've been in hotels the refrigerator have been clean i mean i don't know what they do if i hope now it's even better right you know but i don't know but uh that that wouldn't be a a problem um okay um in the room the car is asking about the in-room coffee maker okay so the in-room coffee maker in the usual in the olden days they used to have a carafe right that you would uh you would make that's the glass pitcher the glass teacher right in english in english right yeah right the glass picture that the coffee goes into and behind them was afraid that sometimes people might come in and put whatever they want in their soup who knows what non-kosher thinks so he's advised not to use it uh but nowadays they don't really i have i don't think they have that too much anymore they have basically one cup uh single cup dispenser you put in water you put in the coffee and you get one cup and it's not really usable for a soup or anything else and those those are those are okay as long as the coffee is not a problem do you agree with that robbie buyer absolutely okay uh eli is asking the burners in his house are traif every time something spills okay [Laughter] why in the hotel are we saying that you need to uh to kosherize the burners and in your home uh you do not need to to do that you use the same burner for milk milk and meat most people use the same burner for milk and meat that's true that's true because that's true we assume that it gets faster every time it's on it gets burnt up and you're going to see it you're going to clean it it gets burnt up also non-kosher it could be a little worse than the meat of milk so i would i would still recommend if you're in a hotel to uh to kosher it if you really if it's really difficult you can just make sure it's clean and the bottom of the pot is clean and that would be uh that would be sufficient okay so let's go back to let's say you want to stay in a hotel for shabbos a lot of people going away for a week or so they want to stay in hotel shops there are a lot of issues that come up there for everybody you know um something you gotta check out you have to check it out before um how are you gonna get into your room there's no keys anymore they use electronic keys right so so you can't use those on chubbies but uh and many some posts can hold therefore you you're kind of stuck um some people leave the doors open on choppers that's obviously not something that we could recommend to wedge something that the door doesn't open we can't recommend that uh behind them and holds that you can ask the non-jew to open the door with that key right so before shabbos you go to the front desk and you say you know i'm religious jew and i need help getting into my room from time to time and uh you know here's my key or they have their own key i guess uh will you be able to assist me in getting into my room when i need to and hopefully they say yes so that kid is looking though right the key is it right you have to do this before you have to set it up before shopping and and probably even before you get there because you want to make sure that they'll be amenable to doing that you know you don't want to get there and they'll say no sorry and then you got to stay in your room while shopping it's not very convenient um there are other issues with with rooms for shabbos i mention this we i have a hotel article on our website um so if you google star k kosher hotel goldberg then you you'll bring it up but uh the problem with the air conditioning or you know that that sometimes the door is open when you open the door the air conditioning goes on well and that's the time in your own house also isn't it no i i don't mean that it just recognizes the change in temperature i mean that it's actually you're actually turning on the air conditioner by opening the door you know they don't want to do the air question to be out for 10 hours a day when you're out of the room i had a friend in the in when i was in yeshiva in the dorm in the high school dorm so they used to turn the lights off the curfew so i had or you had to turn your lights off at curfew that it was so i had a friend who was able to hook up his uh the lights in his room so that whenever the dorm council would come in he'd open the door the lights would go off okay that's great so uh so he so the light the also the lights go on sometimes when you open the door if that's good if that's going to be a real issue for chavez and yonte obviously so it's something you want to know in advance well how can you know that in advance so yeah you have to call hotel and uh give them uh you know try to find someone who will tell you how their uh their rooms work or go there on forehand or talk to somebody who went or i i don't recommend just going to hotel blindly and then finding out that you have all these issues this is not a good idea okay um let's take some of our let's take some of the questions that we have here okay uh let's take some of the questions here um okay i'm sorry we can't get to all the questions nah hashi says that how can one carry a motel with the a-roof okay well okay you're talking about inside inside the hotel according to many post game it does not require an a-roof so you can carry in the in the hotel uh there are many lenient about that and uh you know it's it's if you want to you can set up your own area of what's called an aircraft service but uh many are lenient about it without needing any any air of katsers which is it doesn't require the area of like a string inside hotel because it's inside but some of the things called the area of katsera which is what you're asking about many whole you do not need that either they're probably real anyway what's that i think it's probably mostly non-jews but that wasn't helpful that wouldn't help that wouldn't help okay can you carry the hotel in the hallways that's the same question we're saying most mostly yes it's okay according to him simcoe says i was in the timeshare that had a motion detector on the kitchen faucet a motion detector on the kitchen forces that means when you put your if you put your hands underneath it didn't work and make it go on and make it go on okay very fancy but the problem for shabbos yeah okay as far as the air conditioning most thermostats have a code to bypass the motion sensors correct so you need to know the code you need to find out what the code is so you can bypass the air conditioner can you use the bathrooms there if they're electronic um that's you can't flush them and something that you would want to know in advance is your in in the in your room many of them are still mechanical uh but if it's electronic you have you have an issue it's not you know if you're stuck it's another story but it's not ideal to put yourself in that situation in the uh in the common areas most likely it's going to be electronic and that is definitely an issue okay um anything else about uh hotels that we want to talk about rubber bayer um there are ice makers in the hotels there are ice makers in the in the hotels you can use the ice from there it's not a problem it's just water and that's not uh not an issue well letting shadow scandals what's that lighting candles lighting shabbos candles on on friday night in the hotel uh so you have to find out if it's if the hotel permits it right if they allow you to light choppers candles and you're lighting shabbos candles against their wishes and set off the alarm you could might set off the alarm it's not right it's not right to use i mean they have a real reason to be afraid so can you get those little uh you know little electrical uh memorial-like thingies that uh so use those yeah you can do two things you can ask the hotel if it's okay um you know maybe those let you light a couple candles or one candle even uh if not then you can get an incandescent night light or an incandescent flat a flashlight or two but incandescent is that's also from 2019 and before right it has a little filament in it it's not led like the common light bulbs that they have anymore it's it's an old style so they're going out of uh you know you know it's like a rock on that what and you can make a breath on that you can make it rock on that right that [Music] yes you can make you can make it right um okay um jakob is saying many hospitals have electronic bathrooms right that's that's a definitely an issue something that you need to be uh aware what to do when you get there okay well anything else about hotels everybody let's take let's see if we have anybody who's um anybody who wants to like zoom in and we can we can bring you into this discussion tamar is raising our hand let's see if we can allow tamar to to ask a question here uh let's see does it work she turns on her i unlocked it but let's see if she turns on her uh our camera she doesn't she can talk without the camera can't you oh she said it's a mistake okay checking it out [Laughter] okay you gotta give like a you gotta give like a prize the fourth fourth is a caller or something get people to call in okay so we'll continue all right um something people a lot of people are asking about are using uh grills yeah kosher grills when they're going out to a park or wherever they're going they want to use it on a non-kosher grill what do they do okay so the easiest way of course is not to use it and to bring your own grill like a portable grill you buy and the gas station right the little disposable grills um and uh we have said that those the greats on those uh did not require do not require tavila because they throw away and they can't it's not really made to tovo falls apart it doesn't it doesn't work so you don't need to feel it so you can buy those little grills that come with with coals on the bottom and a great and you know right i don't know how great they work ah great excuse the pun no pun intended right that's my job you're right okay sometimes i have to fill in everybody yeah i know i'm tired today right okay jakob says the prize uh if you zoom in will be a free subscription to cash's currents oh that's nice they're already freaked so uh don't don't tell anyone who's still subscribing though they come in in in the attain in hamodia they come i think in the jewish press they come uh you know there's quite a lot of quite a lot of you can't give the things away okay all right so how do you let's say you go to a park or something and you have a grill there that you want to to use how are you going to use it um so well we have to assume that people previous prior to you use it for non-kosher meat or whatever they they put on top of it it's just uh you know who knows what's there so obviously the gr the grate on top of it you can't just put your food on on top of it even if you clean it that's not sufficient so one thing you can do for the grate is replace it so right sometimes it's great you pull off the grate you hang hanging aside and you put your own grate over there right somebody took care of of the great right um if you if you if you can't do that then you need the way to capture it is with lieben gummer which is making it red hot which would be sand would you be sandwiching it between coals until it gets red hot i i don't see how this is really practical on one of those state park or you know national park kind of grills right it's i don't see how you could do that you'd have to fill up there's a big space on the bottom right you know it's got to be like a foot at least on the bottom see that's like a like a foot and i don't know and change of of coals just for the bottom right to put them on the top i don't know it's not really sound right right all right um so i mean the best thing is to bring your own grill your own grate or or a portable grill you're right the inside okay you can blow torch it by you can blowtorch it right that's dangerous a little bit but but if you want to you need to caster the inside of it also but by filling it up with coals that itself would would would kosher itself would be like a self-consciousness inside uh-huh but look there's grease there and all these things so you need to what kind of grill are we talking about the one in the park right i mean one of these metal ones that's kind of cemented right so if you fill it up with with coals that would that would that that would cash you in um let me bring my own grill if i bring my own grate and i put it on top i'm not capturing the inside yeah what do you do what you you're going to because you're going to fill it up with with coals you're not capturing the grate but you can't yeah you need to cashew the inside of it somehow because you're filling it up with coals how about if i don't want to fill up with coals well how are you going to get the food hot oh you're saying michael's my my when i put my clothes in you fill it with clothes right yeah does that thing i mean the fill mean filled there doesn't mean you know it's not it's not filled filled okay enough that they'll get the red hot um simcha is asking why can't you put two layers of aluminum foil on on the uh on the uh grate you could do that you could put two layers in the other eta right that's another possibility uh if that's some people don't consider that to be you know healthy or safe to use aluminum foil over there but that would be a possibility because you have two layers it's like the wrapping basically you're double wrapping your food in that way and that would be that would be fine um okay so that's as far as as the grill goes um and okay are there any other questions about the grill grilling meat and fish let me see what was the question about i see one second there was a question here uh yaakov was asking do you need to kosher the grill after grilling meat for grilling fish and vice versa so the answer is i i have a way that you can do that without cashewing the grill so um so you cut you the grill is kosher and you put your meat on but obviously you can't put your fish on on top of the way you put your meat on the same grates so what you can do is like this you can you can clean the top of the grate okay that would do that's number one and then put a cedar plank which is a piece of wood that people sometimes cook fish on on top of that right what's that it's treated so it won't burn or something it's made for that you put that on top of the on top of the grill and then uh on top of that you put your fish and and if it has a cover leave the cover open so that otherwise you know you're gonna get in trouble by having the uh the meat drip down onto your fish that would be a way or again you can use the the two layers of silver foil if you want to do that right and i think you want to mention also if you if you're especially if you're renting a house sometimes they come with those gas grills so that's different there's a couple of different things about that right i mean it's different than like in a state park or something because a lot of times they come with a cover so you have that issue with the cover correct right that's a little bit different bj says you have to soak to see the plank first for two hours okay i was not aware i guess that's in order to get it wet so it doesn't burn right okay um i'm not 100 goldberg is one of the grillers here in the star cake right exactly right right well we live in maryland so in maryland everybody grows goldberg is very good at grilling people because the food he's not so experienced okay so he's saying uh jonathan is asking does the plank need kosher certification if it's flavored that's a good question that's a good question we have i think we looked into that once we said it did not i think it would it was flavored with if you said definitely check that out for you people have same similar question with uh flavored um uh briquettes charcoal broquettes right if that's an issue people ask it for pesach sometimes okay but the charcoal we have said it doesn't get burnt up it gets burnt up the flavor gets burnt up that's not a problem so the flavored charcoal would not make a problem we did have a problem for pesach we found that that that they put um wood chips of whiskey bar with wood chips of whiskey barrels into some of the charcoal buckets together with them to give a certain flavor and we said that is also for pesos you can't have that on pesos because you're getting not because you're getting getting love from the summit you're getting pleasure from the from the whiskey uh arrow pieces of wood okay um let's move on rabbit byer let's talk about slurpees a little bit um that's your your expertise yeah we have a lot of do you also drink slipperies or you're just talking about them um i don't i can't really remember the last time i've had a slurpee to be honest all right okay so what would you want to talk about my kids talk about the alert we send out we sent out about the slurpees yes so i mean in baltimore we're actually blessed with a um with a couple of 7-eleven stores that are owned by charmer chavez yid and um he heard through the slurpee grapevine and he noticed on his own that the the standard deliveries of flavor concentrate that they use for slurpee were not coming in during covet or they weren't coming in like they used to so there were times where he was running short of even some basic like something like blue raspberry he said is like a standard slurpee flavor that all of the 7-elevens generally carry but the main 7-eleven delivery of blue raspberry syrups weren't coming he said even something as simple as coca-cola he would get it but it just wouldn't come in the same volume that he was having it before so he heard from other owners in the area that they were turning to outside suppliers which were not necessarily kosher certified so as a result we we we put out an alert here in the baltimore area basically saying that you should really either purchase your slurpees from this particular owner's um 7-eleven because his uh slurpees are actually certified by the starkey um we also looked into a another um convenience store that's local here in our neighborhood in the community and we found that they were also uh making sure to only buy the the uh the certified um certified serifs but out outside of that we told people that the best thing to do would probably be to check the you know the either to check the back of the of the machines to see that what you had was actually what you were what would they say it was on that note here's the question from hani that we got through our email uh thank you very much and tiscala mitzvahs in the past reaching out to starkey and other cautious organizations they say to ask the store employees to allow you in the back and verify if there is really a hecture to verify the product is from coca-cola and so on however this is not nogaiah it doesn't doesn't work as i've tried this several times and at best they will say let me ask my manager which takes 20 minutes or they'll just say no so what is the more relevant and practical way to go about this or they don't want you to they're not interested in taking the time to let you go to the back so what can you do will you have to go slurpulous uh i mean yes he's the friar's asking are you really that desperate for a slurpee you may not be but your kids might be like especially if you promised them already and now you're going to tell them but that could be a good finick lesson um you know even in the best of times when when people are are we when we when we recommend or when we say that these particular slurpee flavors are approved or recommended whatever the case may be um we do say that in the first case scenario it's best to check yourself or only get it from a certified place but we say that if if if that's not possible then there are a number of reasons why we while we're makel and we feel that you could still drink the slurpies um the only reason why we're being extra careful here in baltimore is because we had inside information that this was going on it doesn't mean that this is going on all over the country all over the world that you ask your local uh agency if that's a problem in in that area that's that's a good one for that you know or or you know you can lobby the agency to give to give or the uh or the 7-eleven if it's frequented by a lot of from people to capture it's not that expensive it's not an expense it's not a big expense i mean let's say if someone's on the road and they're traveling and they okay in that way right so archer is asking do you have to check the packaging or is it enough to check the front of the machine and sometimes there's a hexa printed where it says the name of the flavor but that's what rabbit buyer is saying is that we've heard that sometimes they will especially now they will use a different not off off-brand flavor in the box if it's connected to the machine that says i don't know if they actually have a hashtag on the front label unless the store themselves put it there you know when they sell if a coca-cola sells or when they sell they sell like signage that says coca-cola or phantom i don't believe there's like a little oh you there or something i doubt it very much that that's the case um yeah i'm sorry go ahead i was going to say that even in the back if you go back and you see like it's a box of fanta there won't necessarily be an ou on there um many times the phantom stuff does not have an ou but if you know that it's fanta and you have our handy dandy slurpee lists and you can see okay this particular fanta flavor is fine and the overwhelming majority of them are fine so even if they don't have as long as it says it's fanta or coca-cola or whatever then then it should be fine what about zakaria's asking what about the fact that they can clean the machine spout with the same rag they wipe down their hot dog machine so they might use the same uh the same first of all okay okay i don't know if that ever happens number one um number two i mean if you really want to talk to logically it's it's called a slurpee machine never gets hot um when it's in use it's always cold it's like i forgot already was it 27 degrees or something like that um constantly so there wouldn't be any issues as far as that's concerned as far as mambashus i mean it would certainly be bottle whatever whatever would be would be on the rag without sure be possible i would also say that but uh you know even if something got at the bottom of the spout right then um what are the odds that you're the first person to take a sloppy they cleaned it probably somebody else took a slurpee and then it gets well it gets washed and cleaned and bottled you know nowadays especially now with covet i think it's a brothel for fascists in that regard that i think they're probably extra special careful not to just use you know this is a rag we're wiping around the whole counters and they're just using it for everything i that doesn't sound very uh very sanitary okay jakob says someone told me anything with a fanta logos kosher is that correct anything with the santa logo that's one of the flavors that we've looked into i mean i thought i said the overwhelming majority of them are fine as far as i know all the fences are fine and they're mostly i think there may be one that smells like um but you know they always come out with new stuff so you have to check a list to make sure yeah so i'm just putting up a link to our list there's our list um okay rhonda's asking why why they have ics are the ics kosher so i see's it's the catch with the icees is that they're not all produced the the the the concentrates are not all produced at the same factory so in other words so you might have some icees being made in detroit which is under the local hashgraph of detroit which is reliable and then you might have an ic being made somewhere else and and who knows i'm not sure so that's why it's important with isis in particular you need to see the back that you really do need to see the back that there's some sort of a reliable hester on it um but again i tell people in a pinch and like you're traveling or whatever if you would stick with uh with this similar very simply basically a coca-cola flavor or something like that it's you know it's hard to make that not crusher um or maybe like a sprite or something but once you get into the funny flavors you know blue raspberries and cherry vanillas and all that kind of stuff so then i i really should look on the back and make sure that it's uh that it's certified uh similar is asking if the slurpee list is on the starkey app so let's make a uh a push to get the starkey app uh if you have a smartphone already uh which i assume is probably most of our uh listening audience uh there's a starkey app for for the iphone and for android and yes the slippery list is on the starkey app a lot of have on the one hand the people who paid the money and didn't get anything out of it right on the other hand you have the hotel that did probably do they didn't serve food but they may have bought most of their food and they did a lot of work for months proceeding so did they have a right to be paid for that or some portion of it or whatever these are questions that um you gotta you gotta read the the small print nowadays they have to go to a based in and the basement has to decide what uh there's a lot of money involved in this and uh you know they have to i mean talking about asanas i mean that that was uh that could be an issue even that was i think also an issue a similar issue right people paid the caterer right and then like you know down payments of the taxes and then that can't have a tax enough then they had to make a uh they had to make a backyard wedding right all this is uh all this was you know has to coming safe or the covet safer that'll come out eventually rotate them and cycle them in and out um a lot of times they just rename it you know because 7-eleven doesn't call it you know just they don't just call it plain watermelon whatever they'll have some tie into some movie or something going on in the world whatever so um we usually leave them up they only add um i want to make another offer if anybody wants to uh willing to uh come on to the uh come on and ask your question live we're more than happy to uh to have you you just wanna ask about pepsi slurpees and they're fine also um i also wanted to mention the freestyle machine some people might see that out while you're traveling that's the coca-cola i think pesticide might have a similar machine but i don't know what it's called but there's a there's an interesting machine called freestyle that coca-cola puts out and um you can you can kind of pick and choose how you want to combine your soda or you can kind of like make your own sodas you can have like coke flavored with cucumber or whatever the flavors are on the uh that they offer and the the ou certifies all of those flavor capsules that are in the machines and they're they are proprietary to that machine so you can always assume that it's fine so those freestyle machines you could use if you see them i think they're generally like in targets or some gas stations or rest stops or whatever right i want to make a make a comment on that ruby buyer that um uh someone sent me a link that coca-cola just invented a way to save the soda machine from kovid 19 in other words because normally you have to go and you have to press the button which kind of yeah i saw about that i saw that yeah so now they have it you can download an app yeah uh and you can you you you decide what flavor exactly you want and then you scan your phone to the machine and it it prints you like stick your face there out of your mouth wide and it just still kind of yeah that's how it gives you this without having to touch anything it gives you the soda that you uh that that you that you want so there's uh okay zev is asking what about coca-cola and parts of the country where the bottling coming has no hamstring usually we said it's not a problem because as long as the syrup is okay right the syrup has to have all over the united states and that's not the bobbin company is not really going to be a problem because everything is cold catalog you'll see that not every microwave needs to be cautious some only need to be clean and you can see the steps there that will well you can you can go through to see if your microphone needs to be captured and has it it tells you how to do that if you need right and then self clean oven it's pretty easy just clean the inside of it um and then turn it on for 45 minutes on the highest setting and that will cause your the non-stop clean by the way uh self cleans are going out of style really yeah it's not that popular anymore like it used to be but why because the uh the the most of the market uh at least until recently was not eating at home so much and the pre pre-covered they're eating a lot in restaurants people were not using their oven so much and didn't need to self-clean them and it's an expense in the oven and it's sometimes breaks and so they really started um moving away from the self-clean now that people are eating it whatever that might not have been such a good move
