hello and welcome to stargaze annual pace of products webinar we're here at the Starkey offices in Baltimore Maryland we're glad you could join with us today I remember to go over again as you can see on your screen how about Sean Taylor is joining us with the proper social distancing from a different room hello everybody how are you everybody goal works yeah we are hanging in there like everybody else how's the weather on your end okay if a few people could just chat with us to make sure that we are able to hear us will it be great make sure the sound is coming across you can see on the bottom you're able to download that that particular that's the book really really well most of the book right I mean yeah except the medicine list is an entire book except Amendment's right then you have the pick Quick Pick medicine list so this is like a cheat sheet for you know you don't have a particular pain reliever that you that you need you just want something so you're here you can see the advil and and the tylenol is listed here and the fibers which could be very important for pay stuff after evening the matzo and and so you know that's that's a list that you can that's available in the book and and and for download and we recommend that you that you do that and there's also one more list that's very important which is a big quick personal care these are items that do not have any climates in them again if you're just looking for something like Listerine Listerine we have cool mint antiseptic total care zero and so on and scope all of the scopes are acceptable for for for Pesach and you know armed with these two lists you can really cover most of your cosmetic and medicine needs less you have a pretty nose presence on some prescribed medication can Molly's asking if we do that what we usually do rabbi can learn for this show on the yearly basis we I go to to seven mile market the local local kosher store and I bring in a whole bunch of products and we set them up it on the table in front in front of us here and we go through what's what you know what's new what's interesting because of the the the issues this year I didn't want to bring into the products to borrow any of the products and you know they wouldn't bail take him back and so the whole so I just I had an idea to take pictures of them so that we can have this slideshow sort of these pictures and and we can go through and discuss different issues and people have questions they can certainly welcome to to chat with us there'll be ten there's some background noise there if you if you hear somebody oh all right one sec I'll fix ya okay thank you okay so here we have typical acceptable monsters here hadar 18 minute masses which are I used to be star K sometimes we we mentioned this in the past I used to be stark a certified there's no problem with them they are acceptable oh sure 100% behind them in had an issue with this 18 minute months and every almost every box of 18 minute monsters because actually it takes 22 minutes they don't count the time that they're needing this because when you're kneading the matzo it doesn't become common so it's really like 22-minute Mazdas so he didn't that you didn't have a lot of problem with that it's just that you felt that people think it's 18 minutes from beginning to end it's not exactly that way so I mean Nomad so really is 18 minutes from ignite and it's like 4 to 5 minutes but they bake they stop and clean every 22 minutes so this is no different than the other 18 minutes except we don't have the hob or Matz's right the kabura 18 minute is true 18 minute and that's a that's a strictness that that a that a person you know many people are interested in Rob by telling I see the screen is switching back between me and you how does the computer this we never done it like this before a separate I think if it picks up sound on my end it focuses on me okay it's an older smart screen okay then we have of course egg masses which are not acceptable for regular healthy people on on on Pesach only if a person is elderly sick and can't eat regular matzah but of course you cannot be fulfill your mitzvot on Seder night with this kind of matzah this would not be acceptable also another thing is that chocolate-covered matzo chocolate-covered matzo are generally made with egg matzah so and it's not African Azam it's not acceptable for regular healthy people with the starcade does have an egg matzah I don't have the brand name right here I think it's maybe you can look that up on our list of vitamin there is there is a there is an egg matzah another I'm sorry chocolate-covered matzo that's made with regular matzo if you're interested in that on the starcade and that is fine for everybody 21st century it's called 20% tree okay very good okay we're though it's not more okay okay we are getting a lot of questions is here but people asked about being lenient on certain homers and strategies so maybe we should discuss that for a minute yeah so yeah rabbie Hyneman has been getting that question you know for the past couple weeks whether this year we should be more lenient on on whatever issue maybe kid Gnaeus we should be Ashkenazim should be able to kidneys legumes and I think basically he has you know his his rule is no unless the person is is unfortunately ill or has some really unusual need we are we would you know if you have such a need you could ask your rabbi and maybe he would be lenient for you but we are just presenting the regular information as as in previous years there are eagerly camera he said also which helped a lot in putting things in perspective when people are talking about food shortages and things like that so he said he said that you know the food shortage first of all is a perception because there's plenty of food he said you know he lived through World War Two in England and there he said the rationed aeration in food so each child was allowed one egg per month and one pair of shoes a year he said trust me there's plenty of food he says yeah you might not be able to get your American great USDA prime ribeye roast this year that's possible that might not be available but he said there's certainly gonna be plenty of food and he doesn't see a reason why people should be looking to be more maickel and in fact adorama you know in times like this when we have so many where we've minimized so many of our sources of kedusha manana and things like that we should try to look to Mazyck ourselves and you know and do as much as we can to keep things as as as much as possible right on as possible you know right so we tell you from our perspective in Baltimore particularly let's say they're asking is there an egg shortage this year you you you have you have information about that right there's not yes in Baltimore they have plenty of eggs they will have plenty of eggs you don't have to worry about that countrywide it seems the two things that there seems to be a major shortage on our eggs and toilet paper which is very interesting I don't know what the denominator is between them if there is any but there seems to be a run on eggs you know mines you eggs only last a couple of weeks so you know that joke going around where people are gonna you know it's 2050 and someone's finally using up the last roll of toilet paper honey you know that kind of a situation I don't know how it's gonna play it by eggs because people are hoarding eggs and you know it's not gonna last them that long because they have a shelf life but at the same time in Baltimore they certainly have plenty of eggs on that note though you know there was a question which is a very valid question about people have a minute to buy eggs before Pesach because of a concern maybe the chickens ate you know ate something that was common stick which an American general is a less of a concern most chickens eat corny kidneys based items that's just you know cuz corn is such a big crop over here so on that are behind him and did say that that you know if you if you don't if there is a shortage of eggs and you don't have eggs available you need eggs if you were more previous years to have that minute not to buy eggs before pay so he said you can buy eggs and pays off because that is really only a minute it's not really a comets concern you know even though the source of the minute is not really a real Hammad's concern and that is something that he really you know he's telling people he has no problem with people do they you can definitely still buy on column I though there was a department yeah rabbi rabbi Haber was was working out on the date codes on the egg cartons that he should that you should be able to figure out from the date code when when the egg was was late and he had some information about that I don't have the details but if a person you know like you said Rob Mohammed said you could be lenient but person who wants to you know go to the ends degree he could study the date code and figure out on column oi when it was when it was when the egg was laid okay it's saying here the probably one of the problems is ever saying problem is price gouging okay how much we can really do about that one leniency that we did have rubber tender was with the hand sanitizer so it was we we usually say that hand sanitizer is acceptable and he's acceptable as without alcohol because the alcohol possibly is from climate and that's what we've said in past years right before the book went to print it was about two or three weeks ago I was I was I was looking at that I'm saying this year is going to be different because you can't get any hand sanitizer that you want it's not like you can go choose it wasn't available even then it was very difficult to get and to get one without alkyl i'm not even sure that those work against the virus and so i discussed with her behind them and you right away agreed that this year we should be lenient because it's it's it is a stringency it's not edible that's not edible to a dog we have most of the hand sanitizer actually using corn based alcohol ethanol right so right put that together and it's not really edible so raha Neiman said you know certainly reason nickel especially since the secona involved in this current situation is significant the Purell brand I found out is actually kosher it has a hectare on it it that it doesn't have a symbol on it but it's certified by the Atlantic oestrus Commission and for whatever reason and they certified the glycerin and it was though it was often a problem of could be trave the glycerin there is kosher I mean I'm not recommending eating this but if you wanted to drink it I would say that you take some single malt whiskey because it's actually cheaper right now but yeah it's a high proof whiskey it is cheaper than than then Purell right now and it will solve a lot of problems if you rub it on your hands face and then actually drink some of it no more issues but I mean the old your pain is to you didn't it rings xa9 cigar you know which is 96% alcohol you know they those guys take a look items of that not that that's recommended Everclear is something like that but you know it's if you can't find hand sanitizer that will work however that is comments that I'm pretty sure we I think where I go over my correct we know that every clear and these grain alcohols generally are from probably probably is coming so so the Purell is is is it actually kosher and it's great its corn alcohol so it's not a problem is every asking if you put the hand sanitizer on your hand Yan Tavor on Shabbos can you use it it turns into a thin liquid we we don't have a problem with regular hand sanitizer it's liquidy enough as far as I know her behind him and has looked at it and said that it's liquidy you know the general one less it's very very thick the problem would be something called me Marea but the ones we've looked at do not seem to be an issue I haven't seen any we looked at a bunch there behind me even though foam ones that turned the phone behind them it also holds those remotes or to use in showers and Yantis right okay let's go back to this slide show and let's get the questions back in a minute question yeah in small rural towns where usually you have to travel to metropolitan cities to get food but no longer have the ability so getting crush less and food is not so easy right but you know you're still gonna get this basic staple items potatoes onions fruits and vegetables you're still gonna be able to get you know macaroni is not going to be allowed this year you know I'm not sure whatever other item is you're gonna be able to find out a fascicle raw fish things like that you know you'd like certainly be able to find which you know in in many non-kosher stores the problem also is that in in out of town cities a lot of the run on food that happened you know the the non-jewish customers emptied the shelves of everything including the Pesach items you know so that caused big problems I've been hearing about that from some communities but you know whatever you're gonna be able to find you gonna be able to find it doesn't mean you know as her behind me was saying no one's gonna star fruit and vegetables will still be available and you know meat and chicken you're still gonna need to get kosher meat and chicken and eggs and whatever else you're gonna be able to get you know those you know it doesn't see any reason to be more lenient and allowing other items okay good I just have here in my notes here overtones I don't want I don't want to forget to mention that latex gloves a lot of people putting on gloves you know for health issues so some of them could be coated on the inside with cornstarch so that's not comets but when you want you if it has cornstarch you don't want to use it around food so you know there are many that don't have any coding and have coding then don't use it with a with their food the way you can tell you know if it has coding is either it says on the box or if you're not sure you can turn a little inside out and rub it on the dark cloth and then you'll see right away whether it has anything on okay these gluten-free matzah style squares which are you know fine for pay stuff but a person can't use them at the Seder because they're just matzah style which is like kosher style it's not really matzah it's like it's like you know tapioca English tapioca starch your potatoes or something you can't use it at to say they're I mean you can use it for you know at the meal but you can't use it to be your daily Mitzvah it's like that was so many Pesach items are a gilgul to call the gilgul of a potato yeah right today there's in so many different ways this is lemon juice from concentrate it's it's not a you know it's a shop right brand it's neither one of the kosher brands but it has is the same pace of texture and this is a little this is a way we always recommend to save some money on your pace of shopping you don't need to buy necessarily the more expensive if you want you can buy what they call the Hamish of brands that's fine we we don't have any problem with buying this this this kind of brand off-brand with the pace of texture and those as a matter of fact for a lemon juice that even the real lemon which is just has the regular certification that year-round certification is also acceptable according to the oh you so you know yeah we look for ways to try to to save money okay this is uh we got this question a lot safflower oil this has a tough KP on it you know safflower sounds like sunflower like soybean it sounds like those but it's totally different it's it's fine this is okay as long as it's certified for pay so it's acceptable but people get confused quinoa favourites discussion rubbery Tendler oh yes okay this is this is the product that do people realize how much work went into this product just start Gabey quinoa or natural earth products you know brought from Bolivia where we have a musky of going there and checking and making sure that there's no comments around there then packed in bulk and plant in the United States with a mash gear to this again check that there's no hummus and also I checked nobody nobody that you took care of rabbi Tenley right and then packed into the small bags again with mush Kiev check there's no hummus and there's no bugs but that was a few months ago right so every time to explain what what do they need to do to make sure this has no bug problem so the main issue with Ken why is a storage issue we have exactly all the information and video tutorials and how to check in on our website check for insects calm or through the starcade that org website and click on the insect checking link but it's a mainly a storage problem that the quinoa we've realized we found out has been sitting around in South America for very long periods of time that's why over the last number of months we've all been hearing about quinoa coming out of our ears you know like that's our day and it's trying literally all over plays quinoa quinoa bob is in quinoa everywhere and it's just us in the conscious world everybody here I wonder if we could take a poll this is a way of making a poll on this how many people here have heard of the quinoa problem you're go ahead keep going quinoa sounds like corona by the way so just be careful what we say but anyway so the bug issue in quinoa sniffing issue a nationwide doesn't affect them pretty much all the brands that we looked at this particular brand we ensured was a fresh batch my my mics not working let's see if some people can respond must be a problem there end ok so we were able to verify that the quinoa we got to this place after adoption was a fresh batch that did not sit around for a long time and therefore had no insect problem with it and then we had a mess here overseeing the actual production of it to make sure there was no mixing so any we said the mosquito who made sure was it was a fresh so there's no insect problems and then we made sure the packing was done properly so there was no problems of mixing with oats or other even types of gluten free grains that would cause a Pesach problem and then that was a project done over many months and it was packed in November and December I'm into retail bags so our the issue really is when it was packed we had a third mass Kia checking it to make sure that it was still 100% insect free at the time and it was however since December till now you know we had no control over the storage where it got distributed where with Souls therefore our official position is is that we still recommend the consumers do some checking of it it's not really that hard to check quinoa we could see a video tutorial how to do it online on our website but that's why we're officially saying that but it likely is very clean your and I don't think you're gonna have any problems with it and for sure if it was already used it's certainly not a problem at all not with not with this specific batch of quinoa anyway right so we you know we really did it really was it really as a public service more than than anything you know and a team effort it's a team effort right there's a lot of people getting getting that I mean besides for the company natural Earth they also you know they have whatever they have to do okay Matala saying hopefully over all this time the flavor has not deteriorated no the the the the sell by date on ken was usually two years so we've lowered it actually 20 or just to avoid any potential problems but right now that's a bug bomb he's saying in terms of taste and generally it's not it's not gonna be a problem taste it's not gonna be a problem up to three years it's it stays very well some companies even to four or five years right at least that's what the companies feel right okay Ellen's asking a question for you why is another problem if already used if the storage is the issue is pretty fresh right right so this is another problem okay let's move on from that to ground almonds so here you have what we call the Hamish a brand perfectly it is a kosher you can't see it but on the left is the pace of symbol on it and that is that's fine and this is actually something we could not recommend without the pace of Hefner because they grind these nuts and types of nut flours in places where they also pack other comets items so this item would need a pace of half sure but if you look over here the next one we have shelled almonds this is something that we can recommend without a special pace of texture and all we have in our book I'm not going to go through all the details of which type of almonds which type of nuts are acceptable but it suffice it that there are many that you could buy without the pace of texture and you'll save some money on it and it would be it would be acceptable it's in the details are in the book it still it's a little yeah you can't have BHT and you can't have this and you can have that in the package and so on you have to clean almonds you know it doesn't and the allergen statement doesn't contain any kidney mention a kidney yes or we there hum it's okay right okay then we go to this sign that is in a seven-mile market which is an important sign we need the store a kosher store needs to have this all customers are urged to check that products are marked for Passover then they have that sign every every so often every few feet in the store because if you if you don't check you just go and pick up whatever the cooking spray that's right right there or whatever product it is it could be that it's just what happens is often somebody's walking down the aisles in the store in an on pace of sections pick up a picks up a you know let's say a cooking spray that's not for pay stuff and then when they get to the pace of section they say oh wait I got the wrong one they put it down and they picked the pace of one and meanwhile the next unsuspecting customer picks it up or just the staff there could be putting the wrong products on the shelves and so therefore you really need to check everything in social pay so there are mistakes that happen unfortunately okay very very common problem I'll caution as someone was involved in food service we have many facilities that are producing pace on food this your retail pace on food it is such a common problem I can't even begin to tell you products get mixed up people the wrong thing back on the Shelf it is such a common problem we can emphasize that enough when you're in the store shopping check products making sure they haven't Pesach on especially since a lot of harsh cajas I'm the symbol is either a P P by the way let me is is always Pesach P is never power of but even some of the some of the Hamish cause a lot of times their symbol for Prakash la Paso has very very similar to this similar to the years symbol they use a year round just a little word says Carla pencil is different so you have to really check it carefully right okay here's confectioner sugar this is an item that does require does yes require a peso texture because sometimes they could use a corn starch as the flow agent to help it so it doesn't get clumpy but regular sugar does not require your pay so actually just regular plain white table sugar will be fine without any piece of texture I think that you know the famous brands the Domino and many of the off brands do have faced have sure but if you but it wouldn't be an issue maybe you could save you know fifty cents on that but fifty cents you know adds up every tunnel you know what to pay the meter every time you park somewhere so you know good money so here on the bottom you see light brown sugar and so our policy is that brown sugar does require a pace of texture because there are some additives in it and so on so we do require a pace of texture and here is an interesting product this is agave which is a sweetener and we get questions about this because it's a sticker with this Kaveri have sure but it says kosher for beta it's just a sticker over a regular label we don't we don't recommend to we don't recommend to do to do labels because people get confused and anybody can stick on the label but I did check this out with with the hep sure and they said this is a legitimate Coachella pace of product but we we tried that people should avoid it right but also you know this label it happens I've done a better job a lot of times they just took a label generic sticker that says crush a pestle on it so you could take that off and put on anything you want the were actually says the name of the company and the product name is is the best way in meaning if you're doing a label this is the way to go now to make sure has very clear identifying stent affine characteristics on the label of what exactly it's supposed to be on right okay then we have here some made raisins this this used to have a different texture but now it has okay P it's perfectly fine for payslips but here you have again the same thing I was showing you before you have off-brand with basic texture and this also you could save a little bit of money by buying the off-brand okay let's take some of the questions over Chandler I want to pretend maple syrup requires a pace of half here and hundred percent pure honey also let's talk about the honey for a second so the honey sometimes even though it says hundred percent pure it could be cut meaning warded down with corn syrup so they don't want to still want to give you a full bottle of honey so they in overseas or whatever they do it they put some corn syrup in there and they said they say that they sell it to you as pure honey even though it's not now for the rest of the year the corn syrup anyway is kosher but for Pesach is something that you don't want to you don't want to use and therefore it needs a base of texture I've mentioned in the past that Costco Costco has a large bottle of honey that's for Pesach its purpose a whole year that's a peso flexural year the regular Kirkland brand it's pretty cheap I think it's not mistaken like ten or eleven dollars for five pounds which is incredibly cheap I have some small companies that go there to buy their honey just because it's so cheap I don't know if they have it this year maybe they sold out members are wrong on honey this year I don't know but I don't say that you don't say that what know anything you know right that's a dangerous so that is something that is you know definitely recommended there's no problem with that honey it's specific any other questions here you want to deal with your over telling particular I'll there let you ride 100% it's some China from Wuhan that is something that even in the honey industry they the people who are on the up-and-up who we have we know I know some of the honey suppliers they they know that it's it's some of them won't buy from such places they don't feel as they're not comfortable with with another that's a hundred percent I don't know the legalities ever I don't know but that's that's the practicalities ok watermelon water puddles yeah that's where behind it means Mahina means goodish is novel idea that I haven't seen anywhere else that water of course is kosher for Pesach you doesn't require a special Heckscher unless it has additives like citrates which could be kidneys and maybe possibly comets but just plain water or seltzer is acceptable but we visit water plants and we give a shirt and we note that in those plants they they take back at the bottle of the five gallons from consumers and they checked them and so I was there once and I said what do you what are you checking them for he said well we we have a sniff test sniffer to see if there's anything else that went into the bottle I said why do you need to do this that's because customers sometimes use it to fill with other things and you know we don't know what it is and we're trying to weed that out and and so they they acknowledge that people do use their five gallon containers for other things and who knows what they a beer beer who knows what they use it for so because it's paisa and because I'm pay stuff we want to be make sure we have no comments at all in our houses or behind them and says the five gallon containers should either be new or they should the these certifications should take responsibility for those for Pesach that's his I bet same thing but regular most people you know at home don't have these in an office they're not going anyway so for this place it doesn't really matter alright then before pay something maybe it shouldn't be any different than anything else that if there is a crisis or rebuttal anyways maybe for those people far out of town they're there you know and find bottled water in the metropolitan areas or something then which again I probably run on called water that's the truth but the Kirkland brand filtered water bottles those were only brand I think last year which came to light that they actually add situates to it right have a problem only brand I think that we found that we want to thank Rabbi Brody I think reberty from Detroit God he's the one that put out that information a couple years ago and he's he's uh he was on top of that okay Petra is saying they use lard in some of the maple simply keep it from boiling over that that's true it's an anti foam it's called it's using such such small amounts that really that itself you know it would be both of many many times over nullified for all year wouldn't be a problem for pay so if we want to make sure you get touch of the Pacer we recommend all your own maple syrup should have our Scott law in general so it may be better without remove accept it without we do accept it without because it's the concern is very small but for basic is different lactaid pills they could have climates in them and therefore they should be approved by the by you know there should be for pay stuff and so you also he's asking about the water that did you say that filtered water bottles is a problem or just the pictures the only problem is is the big blue five gallon containers that are filled with water that's the only issue we were talking about your your filter let's say you have a Brita filter at home what you have a small container you put your you know you fill it up with water and the filters the water for you that's not that's not the problem you should just get a new a new container because it's used with comments all year and a new filter and that's that wouldn't be an issue the water has seeped rates or seltzer sometimes those added its added in mineral water or something sometimes it has added situates to it okay let's move on to the products here you have dried apples dried apples this is this is a as you can see a kosher for Passover dried apples and we do require on dried fruit because your basis because they could add some some comments to the process and therefore it requires social peso honey we spoke about before this is certainly acceptable but we give you other options before ok almond milk almond milk is something people use as a replacement for regular milk this is Carla paisa almond milk and it's certainly acceptable for a pace off this is a new brain that I did never saw before Geffen making a new brand for paisa of Amla milk which is also acceptable there are people who need soy milk or almond milk or they can't drink regular milk so almond milk is certainly preferable to soy because soy is kidneys first for a for an Ashkenazi that use soy milk I'd say it's only in cases of real real need or he's sick or ill almond milk would be much preferred if a person can use the almond milk and I need to have this so there's no you puts out a list of soy milks that are acceptable in the past that list was like this long because you had the main brands and then you had all the off label brands so there's store brands and there was maybe dozens of them this year though you did it differently they just put the main brands like two or three they it became an overwhelming project to track all the different brands and they'd only put a couple of them on their list and they felt that there would be available to 99% of the people and they should use they should use that and so that we have that in our book and you can find that information there let's see if it's all is asking from China with no Passover Heckscher the apples only those three words I'm not sure what he's asking you understand that what I'm not sure the question means the apples needed to have a piece of texture let's go back to the apples a second here you see over here this this is oh he's saying just the words coach of a Passover it doesn't have a certification this is the way they do their labels the circle-k here that's over here on the top right that says power they are also certifying this kosher for Passover they wouldn't allow their symbol to be used like this yeah it's not maybe not really that the kosher for Passover should be next to the symbol but I know that's how they work that's it this is kosher Passover and it's certified by the circle-k it would need to it would need to have a reliable certification standing behind it and therefore know right okay okay next I don't see that products are China I mean practice on you have to worry about if you didn't realize that before you certainly realize that now just asking you Han just so you know Han is a tremendous city in China you know it's you can make jokes about it but at the end of the day it's a tremendous tremendous City and China a lot of the trade goes through that city so you know yes a lot of products probably do come through hand yeah so I want to mention here another thing that we we in the past we have put out the list of the free the vitamins that that have been acceptable for pace off some of them without any kidneys so it all like really totally kosher for Passover and some with kidneys which are acceptable for people who are ill this year I see the rabbi Brody is saying from Detroit he's saying that the Frieda based on on the certification and he spoke to them that they're not they're saying it's not good for Pesach this year which I don't know the reason behind that but that's a big blow to the vitamin taking community that's certified by the new square and apparently they are saying this year that they're not acceptable so we'll have to find vitamins from somewhere else or maybe from the fruits and vegetables it's available or every time that you mentioned that we're going to get that's all we have to eat anyway that's right actually it helped hunter right okay this is a domino we sugar that we mentioned before this has is a basic simple but it we said it doesn't require these are juices that a star K P all year you can see well enough you can see it but it's a stockade with a little pee next to it juices do require a pace of Heckscher because of the pasteurization processing process even there's no comments in it it could be processed on hummus equipment okay Hershey's cocoa is acceptable as a matter of fact we are our language about cocoa is that any cocoa any domestic cocoa there go ahead a domestically produced a hundred percent pure cocoa with no added abused okay you're reading it reading it yeah if the label states process in a plant that processes how much work it needs then it requires reliable kfp certification also international if it's produced from outside the country it should have a peso hush Gohan and also because we've been seeing we found a number of concerning practices that are done in the cocoa industry that may exclude these items from being accepted for paisa again that's outside the United States found we discussed the only domestically produced we're saying right that's fine outside potentially be an issue right right okay we have a question here about black dots on the apricots which is not something that we're talking about but this is freewheeling rabbi Tamara so you wanna we want to get everybody the opportunity to ask the questions that they have so go ahead black dots and apricots are they bugs without seeing them can you tell us no they're not probably dirt once in a while you'll find a bug in there but it's it's more likely than not dirt which is actually quite common in apricots we did extensive research on bugs in apricots we're not finding it to be made I'm not so you're not finding it to be common not impossible to be found but it's not really so common but the commonly found black dots are not bugs broken apricots anyway where would the bugs be anything right yeah just especially Turkish ones you open them up because I like fold it over you open them up and you look inside you'll find dirt do we were quiet no do we require to check apricots not really right oh let's do in there to throw there all bets are off and we're talking to North America well no that's true we have probably we always I can I can see maybe later where people are coming from but you do have their colors usually from from Eretz Israel olive oil pure virgin there are those that hold that it's not a problem for place of the sake opinion is that there is a problem again there's some adulteration in the industry and it could be other seed oils in there so we require a piece of texture but it is readily available Starrcade brands is 100 of them in the book Pompeii and other brands it's not it's not a problem what I said about vitamins even extra virgin yes Ellen even extra virgin we say means a pacer fashion that's the star K it's not a really a difficult item to find in your regular supermarket even what we said about vitamins was that Frieda according to measure we have is not recommending their products for Pesach the texture is not recommending their products I do not yet know the reason why what changed but something is different this year and have to find other vitamins vitamin and we has yeah we have a list in our book of vitamins that are crucial at pisaq I believe it's a kidney is concerned so people are mentioning about asking doctors if you have a health concern that your doctor feels you should be taking vitamins feel you should certainly consult your of more often I don't think this is a kidney is concerned because because the the the Frieda used to buy out a list of what was keep well only had kidneys and what was totally fine so this is something new this is more than kidney my understanding from our walk show his new square wasn't certifying any of them anymore because of a kidney is concerned but okay okay you might still have a list I'm not sure but okay but anyways right if someone has a medical reason why they have to be taking vitamins and they certainly should consult their Robin doctor and follow their guidance right here are some kosher basis spices spices do need cocoa bhaisaheb sure and that's in our store we had that brand here's soy sauce for paisa now how can you have soy sauce for peso so Soyuz kidneys but if you can see over here it says imitation right there's not really soy sauce but this is this is something you know that it's coming out more and more you know imitation breadcrumbs or imitation everything imitation bread you know things that are available so much now that they didn't used to be and this is they said that would be fine for basis this is sweetie brand with the bidet extra for base off there's a sweetened sweet alternative sweetener there's no sweet and low available this year for pizza usually Geffen puts out sweet and low mm-hmm is not available this year and there's also no because your what the difference be whether the difference between sweetie and sweet and low I believe it's a different sweetener I definitely mean it's one is aspartame one is NutraSweet it's made consular penstock there's also usually a sucralose that's been put out previously which is uh you know a take off of Splenda which is also not available this year so pretty much sweetie is it mm-hmm okay let's continue yes is Fox's you bet would used to be under another certification was rabbi Shapiro yeah who it was yeah anyway airship here british beer was acceptable with just the k now and we just got a lot of calls about it because it would just have a k on it and the co should pay so we just get 100 calls about it every every every week but now it has the oh you and it still remains culture to pay so this is a seltzer we're talking about before it has doesn't require any basic lecture and you have sure at all as long as you look at the back of the label and you see ingredients carbonated water that's fine that's what you need to see you don't need to see anything else it doesn't need a half shirt or a peso texture because it's just water okay here is another way you could save some money on these are frozen mango chunks so a non bogey fruit that is not packed it doesn't have anything added it's just mango and we accept that for paisa and you could save a little money by buying that you can look on the back of the bag ingredients mango it's very good so you know that they're just mango in there and there's nothing else and that's acceptable and there are others other types of fruits like that also we have the list in our book blueberries and cherries things like that they don't have anything else added to them it would be okay now if you bought it with a pacer Hatcher so then you're getting an advantage that you know that the mashiac was there and he checked it and it's 150% but we feel this is acceptable if a person wants to be careful about kosher and and that's you could also save some some money let's move down to the next one any comments now you have any questions you want to talk about retail or anything there I just the comments are a lot of you are asking about coffees so instant coffee many brands of regular instant coffee do not need to pay extra or guard our book list a lot of the common brands that are okayed decaf coffee all decaf coffee must have a piece of extra on it so there's a big difference between decaf and regular but there are there some decaf D half decaf with a piece of texture Nescafe and Taster's Choice do special runs of decaf for pizza mmm and Folgers Sanka right as also available it also has a pay scratcher on it okay it was a question about vanilla extract it does require yes a peso texture all extracts require because of the extraction process we want to make sure that's done properly and there is kfb extract vanilla extracts okay right let's move on to the next slide here okay these table covers this is I guess a firm brand it doesn't need to be it's just plastic it's just plastic and if the plastic is kosher for Pesach it doesn't have any problem except if you have a table cloth that has powder in order to keep it from sticking which I've not seen it but I've heard about such things those would you wouldn't want to use on your table because it could be cornstarch but a virus dobrik no that's not a that's a header for every year you can use they quote me a hundred years from now also is a sham okay it also cups foam cups plastic cups not an issue unless they're banned in your city already you mean because of the the environment like in New York and all talk about plastic straw this year because you can't get plastic straws anymore right you know there you go Herman is asking any frozen food list only the fruit and the ingredients is okay to use on Pesach correct except with the caveat that it can't be buggy so if you have strawberries or blackberries raspberries those we have a bug problem so you would need to get them you know with after it's available but other than that we don't have a problem with the the concern is so minimal that we're okay with it I was also asked about frozen fish which is a very common question we get on frozen fish does need to have a pace at Haskell Hornet because on pretty much all the agencies say that simply because a lot of the frozen fish is rinsed I'm in an alcohol solution prior to freezing it to maintain the freshness of it I maintain the coloring etc so therefore we need to have a piece of house or on it the other way say if you're stuck and you can't get a septic fish then you could defrost the fish rinse it off over a comet stick sink and then you could use it but luckily try to find frozen fish with a pace I have sure but fresh fish is not like that fresh fish if you want to get a whole fish if you're in a city where they don't have kosher fish available a kosher fish store available you want to get a whole fish you can buy a whole fish pretty much from anywhere you want and if you know not that we're big fans of going to non kosher fish counter in a non kosher store but if you don't issues issue we're not gonna get we're not we're just talking about basically so this year they're gonna be desperate so we'll just mention it briefly is that you want to go there and and make sure and but you have to really do this that's the caveat you can't there's not just you know this is not just lip service you really have to do that make sure the knife is clean and the cutting board is clean and it's a whole fish and hasn't been touched yet and then they're gonna do it from scratch right in front of you you can technically buy the fish but all those conditions have to be met okay I know all right we'll hate this topic but you know this year that's the biggest cooler we're gonna give you for coronaviruses that we'll talk about on our Pesach webinar we'll talk about getting fresh fish in a non-kosher store okay okay so again going back to the high is asking about the hand sanitizer listing ethyl alcohol can it still be used does it have to be sold we mentioned this before that for this year was saying that any hand sanitizer is okay the ethical is most likely from corn or even trailers being held by Pesach program so a lot of that is gonna be entering stores very shortly also because they're trying to sell it off as well so there really isn't going to be much of a shortage of most items this year in fact they're probably be surpluses I was you know I would get in seven mile market a lot you know try to avoid during store hours after hours talking to the managers seeing the stock they have there's probably gonna be a surplus this year actually not so her says at Starrcade rocks so we can tell her behind them in that we tried to help everybody or since plastic coated paper plates for hot and cold so yes in general we say that those should have a pace at hushka if you look in our guide and though you guide and other guides there are a lot of common brands that are actually costly Pesa without a special paste a texture but it's something you should pay attention to because paper goods do have a starch coating on them which when it meets up with hot food could released into your food it's fully edible but a lot of times would be corn starch so we do recommend that paper goods should have either pay / kaho or be approved for Pesach you know through other means there are last questions that we frozen strong lives with a hex trip not for Pesach yes are fine for Pesach decaf tea that's in our book we there are some decaf teas decaf tea also needs a pace of Hampshire I believe liptint he has a pace a texture on it if you're interested on the copy other brands also they're asking about toothpaste so we do have some of the some of the some of the toothpaste which is a toothpaste that are good or by telling you have the list open there yep it is fine and crest I believe is fine toothpaste M aim close Colgate Pepsodent ultra-bright are all at 100% fine there's Mentos are just from the quick list those there's many other brands listed in the full guide as well as far as as far as someone's asking about Thomas which is a big Pesach item Tom's our kit Gnaeus many brands of tom's our kidneys you know there's a whole section of what it talks about that if it's necessary not necessary Metamucil though is you wants to know if it's kosher the basic so there are there are sometimes lose handbook yeah that were you talking about the Tom's yeah they make a bird that comes brand itself some of them are acceptable for paces but they are kidneys so you need to know that you're allowed to take kidneys right you're saying add we has a brilliant like a Tom's product it's not kidneys I know how available this not always available every year but they do have that and also there's swallowable antacids that you know are very common there are you know nexium and things like that that Norman is asking dental floss should be non flavored or toothpicks non flavor at any of those are okay and you know I we could keep going on I think of a temblor but I think well it's already an hour and the people maybe you know I believe the room they
