Cantor Moti Boyer HASHIR SH'HALEVIYIM Rosenblatt —

Cantor Moti Boyer in a premiere performance of Cantor Yossele Rosenblatt’s composition “Hashir Shehalviim.” This piece, found in Yossele’s handwritten Book of Concerts, also includes the original arrangement written by him. The characteristics of the composition reflect Yossele’s rich style — a fusion of traditional Jewish music with elements of modern classical music. Throughout the piece, each day of the week is represented by a unique musical motif, culminating in a deeply moving and spiritually uplifting expression of the words: “A Psalm, a song for the Sabbath day — a song for the future, for the day that is entirely Shabbat,” interwoven with a charming Hasidic melody. These stylistic features are evident in many of Yossele’s works, and attentive listeners will recognize similar motifs across his other compositions. Special thanks to my dear friend, Cantor Eliezer Brook, for his guidance and mentorship.
