Wow

Back in the day, still today, but back in the day, one of the most prominent Yeshivot in America was the Philadelphia Yeshiva led by Rebel Yas and Rash Kameki. And the way it works in one of these prominent Yeshivot is that boys come in to take tests to take up to take a test. So one day a boy comes with his father. He's boy coming from 9th grade into 10th grade. He's learning that they don't always learn in the regular because learn different than the other ones do. and he's learning. Listen to this story. He's learning and it happens to be the first two chapters of have a very similar name. One chapter is the other chapter. They both meet. So the boy comes into the rabbi's office with his father and rebel says, "Wow, you're learning which are you learning?" And the father says, "My son is learning," which was not the chapter he was learning. He was learning and the father got it wrong. Now rebel tests the boy on that chapter on And the boy doesn't know one word. He never learned. The boy doesn't know one word. And now the father comes in and says, "How'd my son do?" Rabbi leans in. He's leans in. He says, "He doesn't know anything. He really didn't know anything." The father's like, "I'm shocked. He's smart. He knows." The father gets into the car driving his son home and he says to his son, "How come you didn't know anything? The rabbi said you don't know anything." He said, "Dad, I'll tell you why." He said, "Because the pedock that you told the rabbi was not the pedock that I'm learning." So he tested me on the pedock that I never saw before. He tested me on a chapter I never saw before. So the father says, "So then why don't you tell him the chapter you're learning?" He says, "I'm not going to correct my father in front of a rabbi. I'm going to correct my father. I'm not going to correct my father." So I took a test on a chapter I never learned and flunked every single question. The father when he got home called yesterday and said, "Rabbi, I just want to tell you the story. I told you my son was learning. He was really learning. It's a completely different responded and he said that's able boy that's able to be willing to sacrifice his whole future. Getting into filling is a big deal. Willing to sacrifice his whole future for the respect of his father does not need a lot another test. He is in. The boy did not answer one question yet. I have no idea his level. Doesn't matter if he's willing to sacrifice his whole future out of respect for his father. He's in the yeshiva because this is how we are expected to be. We are Jews.
