Cantor Tzvi Hersh Tsatskis recalls singing in Russian during the Rebbe’s distribution of wine following Simchas Torah, 5749-1988 Watch the full video at https://go.jem.tv/KSB In 1988 (5749), during the distribution of wine following the holiday of Simchas Torah, the Rebbe asked Cantor Tzvi Hersh Tsatskis to lead the Chassidim in a Jewish song from his homeland of Russia. The synagogue was bursting with joy as the Rebbe enthusiastically encouraged the Chassidim to sing and whistle along with him. Upon the conclusion of Jewish holidays, the Rebbe would stand for hours as thousands came to receive a small cup of wine and some words of blessing. The wine upon which the Grace After Meals is recited is referred to as the “Kos Shel Bracha – Cup of Blessing.” As the Rebbe would distribute wine from his cup following the Havdalah ceremony, the crowd would join together in joyous melody as the Rebbe energetically encouraged the singing. Watch Cantor Tzvi Hersh Tsatskis reminisce about the highlights of leading the crowd in song in the Rebbe’s presence.
