The Rebbe’s Farbrengens lasted for hours, weaving deep Torah insights with current affairs, Chasidic tales with calls for Jewish action. Throughout, the talks were interspersed with soul-stirring melodies and upbeat joyous songs. It is impossible to distill that spirit, energy and wisdom into a fifteen minute film, but here is our best attempt. The Tenth of Shevat marks the passing of the Rebbe’s father-in-law and predecessor, Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Schneerson, and the day the Rebbe formally assumed leadership of Chabad. On this day in 1981, the Rebbe’s commemoration of the event was broadcast live on television.
