West Meets East

Rabbi Marvin Tokayer recalls the life changing audience in which the Rebbe brought the plight of the Jewish community in Japan to his attention, along with the suggestion that he might hold the solution to their problem. After agreeing to serve as rabbi there for a period of two years, he was thinking of backing out after his father suddenly passed away. The Rebbe’s guidance and advice turned his challenge into the most rewarding experience of his life.
