In 1976, a group from the IDF Disabled Veterans Organization visited New York, and a private meeting was arranged for them with the Rebbe. During the audience, the Rebbe explained that their challenges only served to demonstrate their unique and unmatched potentials. Always having been referred to as disabled, the soldiers were uplifted when the Rebbe insisted that they not be called “Disabled Israeli Soldiers” but “Exceptional Israeli Soldiers”.
