As we approach the day of Yud Shevat, the eyeglasses of the Rebbe Rayyatz, Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak of Lubavitch, are presented here – in the Exhibition of Our Rebbes, at the Library of Agudas Chassidei Chabad. This style of eyeglasses is also known as a pince-nez or lorgnette, which do not have temples. They have a handle on one side with which they can be held. According to the glasses-case and photographs, it seems that they were manufactured in Riga, and that the Rebbe used these eyeglasses, from when he lived in Riga, until his last days.
