הסיפור מאחורי השיר הזה של "חכו ממתקים". כ"ק אדמו"ר בעל מאור ישראל מסקולען זצ"ל סיפר: פעם אחת בטיש, כיבד מרן האמרי חיים מויזניץ זצ"ל את אבי הנועם אליעזר זצ"ל לשורר ניגון. הנועם אליעזר כדרכו בקודש, לא רצה ליטול לעצמו, והחזיר את הכבוד אל הרבי. פתח האמרי חיים בניגון מתוק: "חכו ממתקים" וכו'.. לאחר מכן פנה אליו ואמר בנועם: נו, תמשיך.. אז הרים הנועם אליעזר את שתי ידיו כלפי מעלה, בדבקות גדולה, והמשיך בקול מתעורר: "זה דודי וזה רעי" וכו' עם התנועות הידועות של סקולען. לאחר מכן הוסיפו בויזניץ את הקטע של "השבעתי אתכם" וכו'. ונמצא שהניגון הקדוש נתחבר ונתרקם על ידי שניהם יחד, מתוך אהבה ואחווה ודבקות עליונה: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ .“The story behind this song, “Chaku Mamtakim The holy Skulener Rebbe Baal Maor Yisrael of Skulen told us once Once, at a tish, the revered Imrei Chaim of Vizhnitz, of blessed memory, honored my father, the Noam Eliezer, of blessed memory, asking him to sing a melody.
