Songs of Our Heritage: Yedid Nefesh - My Soul’s Beloved

A heart warming tune, composer unknown c. 19th century, set to the words of Rabbi Elazar Azkari’s (1533-1600) poem Yedid Nefesh which is said just before Shabbos. It describes the loving and longing relationship between our Creator and the Jewish people. Gd does so much kindness for us, what’s something small that we can do for Him? Jewish music is the soundtrack to our lives. At every milestone, holiday or mitzva, it enhances and enlivens our experience and service of Hashem.
