This song was composed in honor and memory of my dear Rebbi and Rosh HaYeshiva Rav Asher Zelig ben Rav Yirmiyahu Hakohen Rubenstein ZT"L. I tried to think of words that best represent what he stood for and the legacy he left us all. The holy words of Dovid Hamelech, קרבת אלוקים לי טוב "Kirvas Elokim Li Tov" in English means "Closeness to G-d is good for me". Rav Asher ZT"L lived his life dedicated to Hashem, his Torah and Mitzvos. His commitment to his Torah learning and growth lead him to have an incredibly close relationship with Hashem which was so evident to all who were zocheh to know him. He didn't live such a committed life for unknown rewards that he would get in the world to come. He lived the way he did to have an amazing life in this world. He showed us all how living a Torah life can lead a person to true happiness and serenity. His essence was all about happiness and enjoying life in this world.
