Rambam's Letter To Converts

Rabbi Yaron Reuven discusses the question of whether a convert to Judaism can say the blessing "Shehecheyanu," which acknowledges that HaShem made them alive. He explains that the Rambam (Maimonides) believed a convert shouldn't say it because they weren't born Jewish. However, the Rambam also emphasized the great merit of a convert choosing to serve HaShem. Rabbi Reuven emphasizes that a true convert changes their eternity and deserves immense love and respect. He connects this to a story of a man who tried converting for 14 years but didn't succeed until after he gave a generous donation to a cause. This illustrates the concept that sometimes a person lacks the merit to perform a good deed, but when they gain that merit, they can accomplish things they couldn't before.
