A Rebbe Dollar With Hersh's birthday
In a heartfelt response to challenging times, Rachel and Jon Goldberg-Polin have launched the "Week of Goodness" initiative, beginning on July 14. This campaign aims to fill the world with acts of kindness and generosity in honor of their son, Hersh Goldberg-Polin, and the 120 other hostages still held in Gaza. As part of this initiative, Hersh’s parents visited Pantry Packers in Jerusalem, volunteering for the day and inspiring others to join their mission of spreading goodness. Pantry Packers, a project of Colel Chabad, is committed to providing food packages to those in need across Israel. Under the leadership of Rabbi Menachem Traxler, volunteers come together to pack essential food items, supporting vulnerable families and individuals. In recent months, Pantry Packers has intensified its operations, delivering food daily to families displaced by the war. During their visit, Hersh’s father shared a poignant story about a Rebbe dollar they recently received from a friend in honor of Hersh. This friend had kept the dollar for years and chose to give it to the Goldberg-Polin family. Jon revealed that written on the dollar was the date "ד' תשרי תשמ"ה". Remarkably, the 4th of Tishrei is Hersh’s birthday, creating a meaningful connection that brought them comfort and encouragement in their efforts
