Rebbe Alter's Children's Chanukah Concert!

“It’s Chanukah at last, so kinderlach, let’s ask…” are the famous lyrics of Rebbe Alter, words many families hear playing from CDs in various locations during Chanukah time. On Sunday afternoon, December 12th 2015, the children of Queens were treated to an in-person rendition of the song, when Rebbe Alter performed for the Chazaq organization. The concert took place in the auditorium of Yeshiva Chofetz Chaim (Rabbincal Seminary of America). The interactive show featured children holding posters to illustrate some of the lyrics, as well as them chanting along to stories being told. Rebbe Alter had amazing props to add to his leibedig singing, such as a flask, bushels of wheat, and even fake “mice” that he dangled around. This was the children’s favorite (not necessarily the parents). Rebbe Alter sang all the Chanukah favorites from the CD, while adding some stories for full flavor. The show was both educational and fun – especially the end of the show where Rebbe Alter led a “train” with children following him in the back!
