Black & White - A Poem

A poem in honor of Gimmel Tammuz. Written By: Meir Kalmanson In the day and age of technicolor everything looks like it's in black and white Especially today, when 20 years ago the world lost its source of light Black and white surrounds me, suffocates me. I'm about to go under when I'm lifted on a shoulder and have a birds eye view of the whirl pool of chaos.  Everyone seems lost. The first few moments of trauma are the hardest to believe that this is happening to you that the reality around is actually true how can this happen? what's gonna be? says the man who's shoulder I'm sitting on.  Have in mind I'm only three.  I don't know the right questions let alone the answers. The crowd seems to be in sync like a group of choreographed dancers yet there's no music to be heard. it seems like the shepherd has left his hurd black hats. black coats. white shirts. seeing the pillar in your life cry, it hurts I was too young to understand the change in plan that was taking place by the look of his face it seemed like all was lost but this could not be for I was taught that we are the dor hashvie the end and beginning all wrapped in one our mission isnt over, it's just begun dont shrug your shoulders, those shoulders are boulders holding the line and pushing forward you ask? what's gonna be? what can I actually do? didn't you hear him say that it's all up to you. pull yourself together man. and wipe those tears from your eyes I wanna hear a battle cry not a sigh of lost hope you got the means to cope with the challenge at hand , you have a chest of wealth in your name its up to you. take a stand. chitas, teffilin, a candle friday night, be the light and ignite the embers of the soul of your neighbor, smile, do yourself this favor you see the connection never severed The Rebbe is here now more than ever at first it seemed that life was drained of all its color and beauty but once I understood my duty and knowing im not alone I could hone my talents and focus on my goal allow the words you heard take a toll on your soul and you will see that it's all clear as black and white
