Police Identify Victim Of Fatal NYS Thruway Accident
Police have identified the victim of last night's tragic accident on the NYS Thruway. The accident occured at around 12:50am when a Ford traveling north on the I-87 rear ended a Nissan that was sitting on the right shoulder, partially in the lane of traffic, with the lights off. The impact of the crash caused both cars to spin across the lanes of the highway and hit the median on the left shoulder. The accident prompted a heavy response from local emergency service teams including State Police, Rockland Paramedics, and Nanuet EMS and the Fire Department. The driver of the Nissan, identified as Steven Redner, 47, of Tallman, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Ford, identified as a 25-year-old man from Elmsford, was treated at the scene and transported to Westchester Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
