In my community, getting your kid a passport isn’t about vacations. It’s about survival. It’s been passed down from parents and grandparents who knew what it meant to be forced out with nowhere to go. Some even keep a suitcase packed under the bed, just in case. That fear is real, and it shapes how we live whether people outside the community understand it or not.
