Tiki Bar Fire on Margetts Ann Lane in Montebello
A fire broke out Thursday night at 1 Margetts Ann Lane in Montebello, destroying an outdoor tiki bar and outdoor structure and bringing down nearby utility wires creating a dangerous hazard when sparks came out rapidly. The incident occurred at approximately 9:30 p.m., prompting a response from firefighters from Monsey, Hillcrest, and Spring Valley. Despite freezing weather conditions, firefighters were not held back and carried out a well-coordinated and professional operation to stop the fire from reaching the house next door, preventing serious damage. One firefighter was injured after being struck by a vehicle while pulling a hose and was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital for evaluation. While a second volunteer was treated for exhaustion. Devoted volunteers from the Monsey Fire Department’s Rest & Comfort (RAC) unit provided refreshments to firefighters, including warm drinks and warmers for hands and feet to support crews working in the cold conditions. Agencies on the scene also included Ramapo Police, Hatzolah, Spring Hill, and Chaverim
