Check out the recipe below: Shuk-style Knafeh For the pastry: *5 Tbs. melted butter *8 oz. Kataifi (shredded phyllo dough) *6 oz. mixture of fresh cheeses like mozarella, goat and ricotta *1/4 cup chopped pistachios For the syrup: *1/2 cup sugar *1/2 cup water *1 Tbs. rose water Cooking Instructions: 1. Boil the sugar and water on low heat for five minutes. Remove from heat and add in rose water. 2. Brush a small skillet with a generous amount of melted butter. 3. Make a layer of katafi, about 1 cm thick. 4. Cover with a layer of crumbled cheese mixture. 5. Cook over low heat for two minutes. 6. Pour a few tablespoons of syrup over mixture and place over heat for 30 seconds. 7. Scrape edges slightly, add a little more syrup if necessary, and cover to cook for two minutes. 8. Remove skillet from heat and flip the knafeh onto a plate. 9. Pour another layer of syrup over the dish and cover with chopped pistachios. 10. Serve immediately and enjoy!
