His tefillin-splendor is upon me and my tefillin-splendor is upon Him, and He is near to me when I call to Him. *קשר תפילין - The tefillin-knot. When Moses asked to see [i.e., understand] God, He showed him, in the simile of the Sages, the tefillin-knot at the back of His 'head', as it were. This indicated two things: that not even Moses could have a clear vision of God's ways, and that God wished to be attached - symbolized by a knot - to his humble prophet.
