A Special Night of Chanukah Mussar

Rabbi Yaron Reuven shares a story about teaching young children at a Yeshiva. The kids are very religious and dedicated to their studies, yet they seem to be confused about fundamental concepts like God's existence and the origins of humanity. The rabbi notes that these kids are surrounded by secular influence and questioning their faith, which is a worrying trend. He goes on to discuss the importance of finding answers to these questions and the consequences of leaving them unanswered. He emphasizes that one cannot truly be Jewish without believing in reward and punishment, which is a fundamental principle of Judaism. The rabbi then highlights the issue of people being distracted by worldly pursuits and losing sight of their spiritual goals. He uses the example of people being more focused on materialistic things like cars and money than on spiritual growth. He argues that this is a sign that the Greeks won the war, as Jews are still struggling with secular influences. Finally, he emphasizes the importance of being a "Kohen Gadol" (high priest) in our own families and communities. We must set a good example for our children and guide them towards spiritual growth.
