Rabbi Yaron Reuven starts his shiur by emphasizing the importance of facing reality. He uses the analogy of a physical ailment that needs attention to highlight that ignoring problems will not solve them. He then addresses the issue of people attending classes on positive mindsets while neglecting to address the real problems. He states that the problem is not the lack of rabbis, but the students’ unwillingness to listen. He draws attention to the concept of “make yourself a rabbi”, explaining that people shouldn't buy a rabbi as if he's an employee, but rather should actively engage with the teachings. Rabbi Reuven argues that when rabbis become financially dependent on wealthy individuals, they may become less critical and more compliant, thus losing their authenticity. He concludes by emphasizing that a true rabbi should not be bought or influenced by money, but rather should remain true to the teachings of the Torah.
