David Frankel Sings: The Gaze of a Lover

A while ago I sat in a coffee shop when I saw a boy looking at a girl. I noticed in his eyes an unusual stare and I knew immediately that he was her lover. I was taken over by the concept that the gaze of a lover is recognisable and I wrote this song as a tribute to that concept. I fit my lyrics unto one of Charlie Chaplin’s most charming melodies, a theme from his film The Circus.
