The "Ten Kavod" Project With Yaron and Christina
The term "Ten Kavod" is Hebrew for "giving honor". The Ten Kavod project is a community outreach project that entails emergency first responders paying a weekly visit to elderly people who live alone and feel a sense of loneliness. The first responders spend a minimum of one hour with them each week in their homes and perform a routine check of the patient's vital signs. Thus, the patient receives a free medical checkup in-house, as well as much needed companionship. The purpose of the project is to help maintain the mental, emotional and physical health of these people who have given so much to Israel and their people. Now it is time for us to give them honor and comfort. In many cases, the elderly patients who receive the care are themselves Holocaust Survivors. United Hatzalah feels a responsibility to help these people stay healthy and receive the care and companionship that they deserve.
